People slandering me and libeling me

Satanic people pretend to nice to my face and they slander and libel me behind my back. They put on an act in front of me whilst they speak all kinds of slander and libel about me behind my back. Please pray Jesus to expose these people for they really are not what they want me to believe they are.

We stand with you in this painful trial and we bring your burden before the Lord together, for we know how deeply wounding it is when people show kindness to your face while speaking falsehood behind your back. The Lord sees what is done in secret and nothing hidden will remain concealed forever.

The word of God tells us that there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known, therefore whatever has been said in the darkness will be heard in the light, Luke 12:2-3. We are also reminded that the one who conceals hatred has lying lips, and that hatred disguised with smooth speech will be revealed in the assembly, Proverbs 26:24-26. Even our Lord Jesus was slandered and reviled, yet when he was cursed he did not curse back, when he suffered he did not threaten but committed himself to him who judges righteously, 1 Peter 2:23. We take comfort that God will bring to light the hidden things of darkness and make your righteousness shine as the light, Psalm 37:5-6.

We pray together for you now. Father in heaven, we come before you in the name of Jesus Christ, your Son, for it is only through Him that we have access to your throne of grace. Lord, you know the slander and libel spoken against our dear one, you hear every false word and you see every two-faced act. We ask you to be a shield and defender, to guard this heart from bitterness and to protect this reputation from the tongue of the deceitful. If it is your will, expose the lies and let the truth be made known, for you desire truth in the inward parts and you will not let false witness stand forever, Ephesians 5:11, 1 Corinthians 4:5. Bring conviction to those who speak evil, that they may repent and turn from their sin, and soften their hearts toward you. Give our friend strength to walk in integrity, to keep the tongue from evil and lips from speaking deceit, Psalm 34:13, and to not repay evil for evil.

We encourage you to not take vengeance into your own hands, for the Lord says vengeance belongs to me, I will repay, Romans 12:19. Our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against the spiritual forces of wickedness, Ephesians 6:12, so we must not return slander for slander. Instead Jesus calls us to love your enemies, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who mistreat you, Luke 6:27-28, Matthew 5:44. This does not mean the slander is acceptable, for you shall not give false testimony, Exodus 20:16, and the Lord hates a lying tongue, but it means we trust God to be the righteous judge. Blessed are you when people reproach you and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for my sake, rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, Matthew 5:11-12. Continue to commit your way to the Lord, walk honestly before all, and let your consistent godly character be your witness while God vindicates you in His perfect time.

We hear how painful this is to be smiled at to your face while hearing that hurtful things are being said behind your back. That kind of two faced treatment can leave you feeling on edge, questioning who to trust, and carrying a weight that is hard to set down. We are really sorry you are going through this.

It makes sense you would want the truth to come into the light. We join you in asking the Lord to bring clarity and to guard your name and your peace while you wait. We have found it helps not to chase down every rumor, which only drains you further.

A couple of steady next steps that may help: choose one trusted, level headed person, perhaps a pastor or mature believer who knows you well, to share the facts with and get counsel from, rather than carrying this alone or confronting many people at once. If the words are affecting your work or community, it can also help to quietly note what was said, when, and how you learned of it, so you have a clear record if you ever need wisdom on what to do next.

We also want to gently note that releasing resentment before God does not mean you have to pretend it did not hurt or immediately trust those who have hurt you again. You can seek peace in your own heart while keeping wise boundaries.

Father, You see what is said in secret and what is carried in this heart. We ask You to protect, to give discernment for each conversation, to bring truth into the light in Your way and time, and to guard Your child with Your peace. Give wisdom for next steps and rest tonight. In Jesus' name, amen.

This happened to me a lot in school, I understand you fully. You're not alone because God is with you! Forgive those people and tell them about Jesus if you can. I pray their hearts are changed so they stop bullying you, amen

There is a peculiar sharpness in the wound you describe, to be met with smiles to the face and to be pierced behind the back. It is not a strange thing, though it feels strange to you, for many of the Lord's people have smarted under this very rod of slander before you, and our Master felt it most of all.

Our Lord Jesus knows what it is to be betrayed by a friend. He was not wounded by an open enemy alone, but by one who shared His bread and walked with Him, who came with a kiss. The Psalms were fulfilled in Him, and He who was the Man of Sorrows took the lion's share of reproach and slander for our sakes. In this He is able to sympathize with you in every point, and to succour you when you are thus grieved. Sin has brought this bitter fruit into the world, with all its oppression and persecution and slander, but Christ has borne its curse and will in the end set all things right.

We will pray for you, that the Lord who sees in secret will be your defender. Vengeance belongs to Him, and His justice has already been vindicated at the cross more fully than even eternity in hell could display it. He does not overlook a single whisper spoken in darkness. In His own time and wisdom He will bring what is hidden into the light, for there is nothing covered that shall not be revealed.

We will ask the Lord to guard your name and your heart, to keep you from bitterness and from returning evil for evil, to give you grace to commit your cause to Him who judges righteously, and to walk before Him with a clear conscience. We will pray also that if it be His will, He would expose falsehood and make the truth plain, that the mouth of deceit may be stopped and that you may be delivered from the snare. And we will pray for those who have wronged you, that God would bring them to see their sin and to seek mercy in Christ, for we too need His forgiveness.

Do not let the Lord appoint you this trial of calumny without also seeking His grace to bear it. Let Him appoint to you care or calumny, sickness or slander, as He knows best, and rest in this, that though men may slander and libel, they cannot alter the record of heaven concerning those who are in Christ. Keep a quiet conscience, continue in prayer, and leave your reputation in the hands of Him who loves you and who will vindicate His own.
