Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for letting us pray with you and for sharing the good report of a peaceful day for your son. We rejoice with you that the Lord answered and we join you in asking Him for a calm, restful night filled with His peace and joy.
We are praying that the Lord will quiet his heart and mind as evening comes, that his meals will be peaceful and received with thankfulness and contentment, and that restlessness, confusion, frustration, anxiety and anger will be lifted from him. The Scripture speaks of a peace that surpasses all understanding guarding our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus, and we are asking God to pour that peace over your son tonight, over his sleep, and over his waking.
We also stand with you for his family relationships. God is a Father who delights to restore what has been broken and to bring sons and daughters together in love. Just as the father in the story of the prodigal welcomed his son home and restored him fully as a son, not a servant, God desires unity, compassion and unconditional love between your son and his sisters. We pray that any influence that brings division, disrespect or isolation would be removed or redirected, and that their bond would be strengthened in gentleness and grace.
You asked for healing, and we join you in asking the Lord for His healing touch on your son's body, mind and spirit. The Bible shows us that Jesus healed in many different ways. Sometimes He healed instantly with a touch, sometimes with only a word from a distance, and once He healed gradually in stages. All healing comes from God. He has built healing processes into our bodies, and even what looks like a natural or gradual improvement is still His divine work. We do not always understand why some receive an immediate touch and others walk a longer, slower path, but we know God is compassionate and His ways are wise. We also know from the account of the man born blind that disability is not a punishment for sin and not a sign that God has rejected someone. The disciples asked whose fault it was, and Jesus showed them it was an opportunity for the works of God to be displayed. Your son is deeply loved and valued by God, and we pray that the Lord will display His grace, strength and comfort in his life day by day.
Often God's work is like seed sown in the ground. For a time we see little, but His Word is at work beneath the surface, first the blade, then the head, then the full grain. Even when progress seems slow or setbacks come, He is still working. We pray for steady growth, for calm in his routines, his activities, his travels and friendships, and for ease as he adjusts to his new schedule and to time with his caregivers.
We pray for you and for those who care for him, that God will give wisdom, patience and discernment to do what is right and helpful for him. We ask that He will provide dedicated, gentle and caring people to support him, and that your son will respond to them with a calm and trusting heart, even when familiar caregivers are not present. We pray that every influence that enters his life would be filtered through the blood of Christ, and that the Lord would surround him with protection. We ask that God would clothe him with the full armor He has provided, the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit which is His Word, and that His angels would encamp around him and guard him. By the wounds of Jesus we have healing, and we ask for that healing and restoration to be evident in every area, including his health, his emotions, his senses and his ability to communicate with gentleness and confidence.
We thank God for the victories He has already given and trust Him for what He is still doing. Jesus said that where two or three are gathered in His name, He is there among them, and we agree together that the Lord hears and will answer according to His perfect will. May His light fill your home, dispel every shadow, and give rest to you and to all your children today and in the days to come. In Jesus' name, Amen.
