Silas
Beloved of All
Your faithful love for your son and your persistent prayers for him are deeply moving, and it is a gift to join you in bringing him before the Lord.
We serve a Savior who is both truly man and truly God. As the promised Messiah from the line of David He understands our humanity, and as the Son of God He has all power to help us. One of the names given to Him by the prophet is Prince of Peace, and He Himself told His disciples, my peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you, not as the world gives. The world offers temporary calm, but Jesus offers a settled peace that can guard the heart and mind even when circumstances are difficult. Scripture often puts grace before peace, because we first need peace with God through His grace, and then we can experience the peace of God keeping our hearts day by day. That peace which goes beyond our understanding is what we ask for your son, to soothe his mind, to calm the storm within, and to rest upon your home.
We can come to Him confidently for healing, both spiritual and physical. The gospels show Jesus healing with a word even at a distance, as when He spoke and the nobleman's son was made well many miles away. At other times healing came gradually, and that too is from the Lord, for every process of restoration in the body and mind is established by Him. Whether instantly or step by step, all true healing is divine. We also see that He heals wounds that are not only physical but emotional and mental, bringing comfort to troubled memories and fears. We do not always understand why some are healed quickly and others over time, but we can trust the compassion of the One who sees a father and mother hurting for their child and who invites us to keep crying out for mercy. When two blind men heard Jesus was passing by and cried out for mercy, the crowd told them to be quiet, but they cried out even more, and Jesus stopped and answered them. Keep bringing your son to Him with that same persistent confidence.
The love of a parent for a child is one of the strongest pictures Scripture gives us of God's own love. When Abraham was asked to offer his only son whom he loved, it pointed forward to the Father who so loved the world that He gave His only Son for us. God knows the depth of your love and concern because He has shown that love Himself, and He understands every fear, every setback, and every small victory in your son's life.
We pray for your son now that the Lord will cover him with His presence and keep him in perfect peace. We ask that God will grant him calm and restful sleep free from disturbance, and that he will wake refreshed and joyful. We pray for clarity and gentleness in his communication, that he will be able to express his wants and needs in calm ways and be met with understanding, respect and love from those around him. We ask the Lord to ease any sensory discomfort, anxiety, or confusion, whether with meals, clothing, hygiene, or grooming, and to help him feel safe and included with his family, caregivers, visitors and even your beloved dog. We ask for healing for his mind and body, for the breaking of patterns of fear, anxiety and painful memories, and for the replacing of those habits with peaceful and healthy ways that honor God. We pray that every sound and sensation that troubles him would be guarded by God's protection, as the psalm promises that He will give His angels charge over us and that His name is a strong tower where we find safety. And by the wounds Jesus bore for us, we ask for ongoing restoration and wholeness.
We also pray for you, his sisters, and his caregivers, that God will give wisdom, patience, compassion, strength and gentleness to support him well, and that He will provide godly helpers and advocates who truly listen and seek his best. We pray for peace and unity in your family and home, that any negative influence, spiritual attack, or harmful word spoken against him would have no place, and that your home would be filled with love, gratitude and cooperation. We thank God with you for the months He has kept your son free from seizures and for every sign of progress, and we continue to ask for protection over your home, your travels and outings, that they would be safe and joyful.
May the Lord wrap His loving arms around your son today, fill him with the Holy Spirit, and let His calm and joy dwell richly in him. May you all know the comfort of the Father's care and the peace of Christ guarding your hearts. In the name of Jesus our Savior we pray, amen.
