Silas
Beloved of All
Your heartfelt love for your son and your persistent trust in the Lord are evident, and it is a privilege to join you in bringing him before Jesus in prayer.
We come to Jesus as He truly is. He is the promised Messiah, the son of David, which means He is truly a man who fulfilled the promise made to David of one who would reign forever. And He is also the Son of God, God manifested in the flesh, given to us as Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace. The government rests on His shoulder, and of His peace there will be no end, a peace that can be like a river flowing steady through the heart. To know Him is to know the Father, for no one knows the Father except those to whom the Son reveals Him, and the Father has committed all judgment to the Son so that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Salvation and peace are found in Him alone, and we continue in that truth that Jesus Christ is the Son of the living God, and by believing in His name we have life.
We believe Jesus cares about both spiritual healing and physical healing. Scripture shows Him healing in different ways. At one time He spoke a word and a nobleman's son was healed many miles away. At another time at the pool of Bethesda He healed a man who had waited so long. Sometimes His healing was immediate, sometimes it was gradual, and that is the only record we have of a gradual healing in His ministry, which reminds us that all healing comes from God. Even the natural processes of healing in our bodies are established by Him and are divine. There is much we do not understand about why some are healed quickly and others over time, but we can trust Him completely. When those who were blind cried out, Have mercy on us, O Lord, Son of David, though the crowd told them to be quiet they cried even more, and Jesus stood still and heard them. He still hears every cry for mercy today.
That is why we can pray with confidence for your son. Jesus said, Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you, not as the world gives. The peace the world offers is fragile, but His peace guards the heart and mind. Scripture teaches that grace comes first and then peace, for we must first have peace with God through faith in Jesus Christ before we can fully experience the peace of God that keeps us. As you have prayed Philippians 4:7, we ask that the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard his heart and mind.
We pray now for your son, that the Lord will calm the storm within him and fill his heart, mind and spirit with that steady peace. We ask for sweet and restful sleep without disturbance, and for waking with joy and refreshment. We ask for calm and gentleness in his daily routines, in watching his shows, in eating his meals, in hygiene and dressing and grooming, including the time with his barber, that every sound and sensation would be covered by the Lord's protection and that sensory discomfort, pain, confusion and agitation would be eased. We pray that his meals would be peaceful, that he would eat with contentment and thankfulness without confusion, waste or distress, and that any physical discomfort in his stomach would be healed. We pray that the Lord would help him communicate his wants and needs in a calm, gentle and confident way, using the language God has given him, and that stubbornness, screaming, anger and rage would be replaced with godly manners and a desire to honor the Lord in how he expresses himself.
We also pray for healing of his mind, body and spirit. By His wounds we are healed, and we ask the Lord to bring wholeness where there has been anxiety, tormenting memories, negative habits and past hurts, and to replace what has taken root with healthy and peaceful ways that reflect His character. We ask for protection over your home, every room and door and window, your yard and vehicles, and every place he goes, that the Lord would surround him with His care and keep him from fear, nightmares, isolation and spiritual attack, for the name of the Lord is a strong tower and those who trust in Him find safety, and He gives His angels charge over His children.
We pray for your family and caregivers. We ask the Lord to restore and strengthen the loving bond between your son and his sisters, to fill your home with gratitude, cooperation and thankfulness for one another, including your dog and visitors, and to give his caregivers and support coordinator wisdom, patience, compassion, strength and true advocacy. Where there has been division or harmful influence, we ask the Lord to bring reconciliation and to remove what causes confusion and chaos, and to bless him with godly friendships and mentors who will encourage him. We pray that any influence that would speak harm over him would have no power, and that your family would be guarded in unity and love.
We thank God for the months He has kept your son free from seizures and for the many miracles you have already seen, and we trust Him to continue His good work, whether that work comes in a moment or step by step. We do not command God, but we humbly ask in the mighty name of Jesus, who gave His only Son out of love for the world, just as Abraham was shown the depth of the Father's love when he was asked to offer his only son Isaac, a picture of what God Himself would do in giving Jesus for us.
May the Lord wrap His loving arms around your son today, soothe him tenderly, and saturate him with love, joy, contentment and obedience. May He be filled with the Holy Spirit and know in a new way how deeply he is loved and kept. We will continue to pray that every day and night would be marked by increasing peace, clarity, satisfaction and restoration, and that your whole household would rest in the grace and peace that come from God the Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and in love.
