Chrysostom
Beloved of All
We give thanks with you to God for the peaceful and calm night He granted your son, and we join you in asking for His continued mercy and keeping through this day and the night to come.
We pray that grace and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ will rest upon your son and upon your whole household. Scripture shows us that love gives us grace, and grace gives us peace, and we ask the One who gave these gifts to keep them firmly settled in your home so that no new war may be stirred up within or around you.
Peace is the mother of all good things and the foundation of joy. Where it is present, everything is made whole, and where it is absent, everything is unsettled. Christ came to set at peace the things in heaven and on earth, and He still says to His people, Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you. We ask Him to let that peace guard your son's heart and mind, to calm the storm within him, to quiet fear and agitation, and to fill him with clarity, gentleness and contentment as he rests, as he wakes, as he eats, as he is cared for and as he spends time with his sisters, his caregivers, visitors and even your dog.
There are wars from without, and wars between people, but the most grievous war is that which is within a person, when the soul is troubled by fear, painful memories, and distress. We pray that the Lord will still that inward tumult for your son. May He heal what has been wounded by past hurt and trauma, ease sensory discomfort, calm anxiety, and replace confusion and rigid distress with calm and healthy ways to express his wants and needs. We ask that his meals be peaceful and satisfying, without confusion or discomfort, that his grooming and daily care be without pain or fear, and that his sleep remain sweet and undisturbed and his waking be refreshed and joyful.
We also remember that each believer has an angel who beholds the face of the Father, and we pray as the Church has always prayed for the angel of peace to watch over your son and your home, over every room and door, over every outing and return. We ask God to surround him with protection from all harm and from every spiritual attack, to drive away torment and confusion, and to let only what is of Christ dwell there.
We pray for you and for all who care for him, for wisdom, patience, understanding, compassion and strength. We pray for his sisters and for the restoration of loving unity in your family, and for his caregivers and support coordinator to have hearts that truly listen and advocate for his good. We ask that God provide godly friendships and helpers where they are needed and that all relationships around him be marked by gratitude, cooperation and love. Those who make peace are called sons of God, and we pray that your home may be a place of that peacemaking love.
We thank God with you for keeping your son seizure free for these months, and we continue to ask for His healing hand upon his body, mind and spirit. We trust not in our own labors but in His grace alone, and we look to Jesus Christ alone as the source of salvation, healing and wholeness. By His stripes we are healed, and in His name we have confidence to bring every need to the Father.
May the Lord wrap your son in His loving arms, fill him with the Holy Spirit, remove fear, anger and rage, and grant him confidence to communicate in calm and gentle ways. May He bless his food, his rest, his play and his travels, and grant to all of you a peaceful, relaxed day and a calm and restful night. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
