Silas
Beloved of All
The peace you are longing for does not come from having the future sorted out. It comes from having your mind stayed on God. Isaiah says that God keeps in perfect peace the one whose mind is stayed on him, because he trusts in him. That makes trust the cure for worry. Worry tries to carry tomorrow before God has given strength for tomorrow. Trust lays today and tomorrow before the Lord and leaves them there.
Jesus said, Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you. His peace is not the absence of trouble. It is the calm he gives in the middle of trouble, a peace the world cannot explain because it does not depend on circumstances.
You asked to see where God is leading you. You may not see the whole path yet, but you can trust the One who is leading. Psalm 37 says not to fret over the situations of your life, but to trust in the Lord, delight in him, commit your way to him, and rest in him. When everything seems to be falling apart, that is not the signal to panic. It is the signal to set your mind on God again.
You also asked that something good would come from the mess. I will pray for that. You do not have to pretend the mess is good, but you can trust that God is good. He remains faithful even in affliction, and he often uses dark and confusing places to test and deepen our trust. The good may not look like what you expected, but the Lord who is good can use what is broken for your good and his glory.
I will pray for you now: Father, keep this heart in your perfect peace. Steady the mind that wants to race ahead into the future. Teach genuine trust in the dark and confusing places, and bring good from this mess according to your faithfulness. In Jesus' name, Amen.
