We have heard your cry for peace in your home and we bring every part of your request before the Lord with compassion and care.

We pray for your husband, that God would deliver him from bondage to alcohol and bring him to true repentance and faith in Jesus Christ alone, for it is Christ who alone saves and makes us sons and daughters of God. We ask the Lord to convict him, to break the power of this addiction, to heal what is broken in him, and to lead him to walk in sobriety, truth and love within your home.

We pray also for you, for your emotional and mental wellbeing under this heavy pressure. May the Lord guard your heart and mind in Christ, give you daily strength, gentleness and meekness, and renew your inner peace. Scripture teaches that marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and that a wife is bound by the law to her husband as long as he lives, and that a woman is not to depart from her husband lightly. It also teaches that the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the Church, and that wives are to be in subjection as unto the Lord, while husbands are to love and to save and to protect as Christ does the Church. We pray that God would form in both of you the love that reflects Christ, not harshness or neglect, and that even if your husband has been debased by this sin, your gentleness, propriety and quiet strength, sustained by God, would be a witness that draws toward healing rather than driving further apart. We do not ask God to bless a separation or any path that breaks His design, but we do ask Him to bring repentance, reconciliation and holy peace where there is now pressure and pain.

We lift your children before the Father and ask Him to cover them with His love, to keep them in His care, to protect them from fear and harm, and to bless them with stability, comfort and faith. May they know they are seen and loved by God and may your home become a place of safety and prayer for them.

Concerning your need for a good family law attorney and a resolution with legal rights, we pray for wisdom, justice and protection. We ask God to guide you to honest, wise and trustworthy counsel, to help you understand your rights and responsibilities clearly, and to provide for your safety and the good of your children while honoring the covenant of marriage as God has established it. Seek godly pastoral counsel close to you along with any legal counsel, so that every step is taken with discernment, truth and care.

We pray for your employment, that the Lord who provides for His people would open a good and suitable opportunity for you, work that pays well, that allows you to care for your school children and to meet their needs with dignity. May He give you favor, skill and endurance as you seek and as you work.

May the Lord grant you peace that passes understanding, courage for each day, and a firm hope in Christ who died and rose to deliver us from sin and to give us new life. We continue to pray that God will bring healing to your home, restoration where possible, protection where needed, and provision for all that concerns you and your children.

Thank you for sharing so honestly about the pressure you are carrying at home. The weight of living with a husband bound by alcohol, while trying to protect your own heart and mind and care for your children and provide for them, is very heavy, and God sees it fully.

I am praying for your husband, that the Lord would bring him to genuine repentance and deliver him from addiction. Alcohol can hold a person in a strong bondage, but Jesus is able to set free those who turn to Him. My prayer is that God would convict him, draw him to salvation through Christ alone, and give him a new desire to walk away from what has enslaved him and to walk in a new life.

I am also praying for your emotional and mental wellbeing and for peace in your home. Scripture calls those who belong to Jesus to walk as children of light and to walk in love, leaving behind the darkness that once held us. I pray the Lord will guard your heart and mind, fill you with His peace that passes understanding, and strengthen you daily to walk in that love and light even under pressure. May He renew your strength and give you wisdom for each decision you face.

For your children, I am praying that they will be covered by the love and protection of God. The Bible teaches that when one parent believes, God places a holy covering over the home and over the children in that home. Your faith matters before the Lord for your family. I pray He will shelter your children, keep them from harm, and let them know His love and care in a very real way. I also pray that nothing in the home would provoke them to distress or anger, but that they would be nurtured with gentleness and steadiness.

Concerning your marriage, God designed marriage as a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, where the husband is called to love his wife as Christ loved the church and the wife is called to respectfully support her husband, each giving to the other what is due in love. A marriage cannot stay healthy when only one is trying to obey God in this way, it takes both. I pray God will work in both of you, helping your husband to show true, self giving love and helping you to have grace and wisdom as you respond. Where an unbelieving husband is willing to remain in the home, Scripture encourages the believing wife not to leave him, for God can use her faith as a sanctifying influence in that home. I pray for grace for you to remain steady in that calling, and for the Lord to give you clear discernment about safety and wise boundaries, especially where addiction brings instability.

I am praying also for your practical needs, for the Lord to lead you to a trustworthy and competent family law attorney and for a just and peaceful resolution regarding your legal rights. Ask God to give you counsel that is honest and fair, and to guide every step so that you and your children are protected and treated justly.

And I am praying for your employment, that God who provides for His people would open the door to good work that pays what you need to care for your school age children. He knows your needs and your desire to provide for your family, and I pray He will make a way for stable, sustaining work.

May the Lord uphold you, give you peace in your home, and draw each member of your household closer to Himself. I pray all of this in the name of Jesus, trusting Him alone for salvation, deliverance, and provision.
