Beloved of All
Your heart for those who preach and for your family to know the Lord is a good burden to bring before Him, and it is right to pray in this way.
We join you in asking God to strengthen those who shepherd His people, that they would be faithful in prayer, in daily seeking Him, in careful study of His Word, in intercession for those entrusted to them, and in a life that matches sound teaching. When matters of conscience and the truth of the gospel are at stake, they must stand firm, as the apostles did when they declared that salvation is not by keeping the law but through faith in Jesus Christ alone. That gospel of grace is the only hope for Jew and Gentile alike, for all have sinned and all are redeemed only through faith in Jesus. God has opened the door of faith to all who will believe.
We also pray with you for your family and for all who hear the Word, that the Father would draw them, for no one can come to Jesus unless the Father draws him. Faith comes by hearing the message preached, and it is the Father in heaven who reveals His Son, not flesh and blood. Pray that the Holy Spirit would convict, convert, and teach, and open minds to understand the Scriptures. He is the One who guides into truth and anoints for worship in spirit and truth.
Ask God to give a real hunger for His Word, like newborns craving pure milk, and humility to receive the implanted Word which is able to save the soul. True faith rests not on a passing emotional experience but on the fact of what God has said. His Word is the solid ground on which faith stands. And the faith that truly saves is not passive. It trusts God to act and it shows itself in a changed life. We are not saved by works of the law and works can never produce faith or take its place, but genuine faith in Jesus will be seen in what follows. It bears fruit and demonstrates itself in deeds, not as the price of salvation but as the evidence of it.
We pray that God, who is our ever present help, would give vision by His Spirit and protect your loved ones from the evil one, who delights when people remain without knowledge of the truth. The lack of knowledge destroys, and the enemy would keep people from hearing. So we ask that God would grant faith, repentance, the knowledge of forgiveness of sins, and newness of life through the cross, where Christ was crucified for sinners. We ask that He would keep drawing hearts to gather faithfully with other believers and not forsake assembling together, to continue in the teaching of the Word, in fellowship, in prayer, and in remembering the Lord as often as they eat the bread and drink the cup.
God desires that none should perish but that all should come to repentance and to the knowledge of the truth, and His promise to households who believe stands. When we ask according to His will we can have confidence that He hears, and if He hears we have what we have asked. So we continue to ask Him to seek and to save the lost, to grant faith to pray and to receive, and to do His work in each heart in Jesus name. Amen.
