Silas
Beloved of All
Your heart for pastors and for your family to know the Lord is good and right, and it is a burden God shares. It is right to ask that those who preach and teach would first seek God themselves in prayer, in daily devotion to His Word, in careful preparation and in faithful intercession for the people entrusted to them, and that their lives and their teaching would be sound and holy and led by the Holy Spirit.
We join you in praying that God would draw your family members to Himself, for no one comes to Christ unless the Father draws him. We pray that when the Word is preached they would receive it not as mere words but with humility and faith, with the revelation that flesh and blood does not give but the Father in heaven gives concerning His Son. Pray for a true hunger for the Word as newborns hunger for milk, for the Spirit of wisdom and revelation to open their minds to understand the Scriptures, to convict of sin and to teach all things according to truth, and for faith that comes by hearing the message of Christ crucified for our sins.
We also pray for a healthy life of the church as God intended it from the beginning. In the book of Acts we see the pattern God desires, a people devoted to the apostles teaching and to fellowship and to prayer and to the breaking of bread, established in the faith and increasing daily not by human methods or pressure for numbers but by the power of a purified and loving body where Christ is the head. A church that remains in love and keeps itself from compromise and hypocrisy knows the presence of the Spirit, and worships the Father in spirit and in truth under the anointing of the Holy One.
We pray that God, who is near to all who call on Him and who is our ever present help, would grant to your household repentance and faith, the knowledge of forgiveness and new life in Christ, and that as each one believes they would rejoice in that salvation. We ask for protection from the evil one, and that none would remain in lack of knowledge but would have vision and understanding by the Holy Spirit. We pray that they would love the gathering of believers and continue steadfastly in it, remembering the Lord together as often as they share the bread and the cup, not neglecting that fellowship.
God desires that none should perish but that all should come to repentance and to the knowledge of the truth, and He sent His Son to seek and to save the lost. When we ask according to His will He hears us, and we can have confidence that He acts. So we ask Him to work in the hearts of your loved ones, to grant them to hear and understand His voice, to believe and to be saved, and to walk in newness of life, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
