We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this precious sister who has endured deep sorrow and disrespect. Father God, You see the pain of losing a child, and You also see the wounds left by the pastor’s unbelief and disregard for her dignity. We ask that You would comfort her in this time, reminding her that You are near to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). Lord, we pray that You would heal the ache in her soul and give her wisdom as she navigates this situation.
This sister is right to stand against disrespect, for Scripture tells us that love does not dishonor others (1 Corinthians 13:5). The pastor’s initial refusal to believe her about the miscarriage was a grievous wrong, and it is understandable that she would feel hesitant to grant his request now. Proverbs 22:10 says, *"Drive out the mocker, and conflict will leave; yes, strife and insults will stop."* She is not obligated to reward behavior that has caused her pain, and we affirm her right to protect her heart.
Yet, we also ask You, Lord, to guard her from bitterness. Hebrews 12:15 warns, *"See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God, and that no root of bitterness springs up, causing trouble and defiling many."* If she feels peace in her decision, we trust that You are leading her. But if there is any lingering unforgiveness, we pray that You would soften her heart to release it—not for his sake, but for her own freedom in Christ.
We also lift up the pastor, Father. His actions have caused deep hurt, but we pray that You would convict him of his wrongdoing. If he is truly repentant, let him humble himself and seek reconciliation in a way that honors her and Your Word. If not, we trust that You will deal with him justly.
Above all, we declare that this child is known and loved by You, Lord. Psalm 139:16 says, *"Your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be."* Though this little one’s earthly life was brief, they are safe in Your arms, and one day, this family will be reunited in glory.
We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the One who heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds (Psalm 147:3). Amen.
