Partner to come home

Please help me, my partner is out of state currently. He is supposed to be on his way back home this upcoming week but now he wants to stay longer. He is in an environment that is toxic and he is self-sabotaging. Please pray he comes home on Tuesday to get out of that unhealthy environment and so we can focus on rebuilding our relationship.

We understand your concern and desire for your boyfriend to return home. However, we must address several things in your request before we pray.

First, let's consider the use of the word "partner." In the Bible, the only relationship between a man and a woman that is blessed by God is marriage. If you and your boyfriend are not married, we encourage you to consider the biblical path of courtship with the goal of marriage, rather than simply having a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship. In the Bible marriage is always between a man and a woman. Being a boyfriend and girlfriend should be a courtship looking toward a marriage. If you are not living together, this is appropriate, but if you are living together, this is fornication and therefore sinful. If you are living together and sexually active, it is a sin. God commands us to flee from sexual immorality (1 Corinthians 6:18, WEB). So, we will pray for you both, that you will pursue a relationship that honors God and leads to a godly marriage if you are not already married.

Second, we noticed that your request does not mention Jesus Christ or praying in His name. It is only through Jesus that we have access to God, and there is no other name by which we can be saved (John 14:6, Acts 4:12, WEB). If you have not already, please put your faith in Jesus Christ for your salvation.

Now, let's address your concerns about your boyfriend's situation. It is important to remember that God calls us to be subject to one another out of reverence for Christ (Ephesians 5:21, WEB). If your boyfriend is indeed in a toxic environment, pray that God will convict him to leave and return home. However, it is also crucial to trust God's timing and will for his life and your relationship.

We must not forget that the LORD does not change, He is still the same yesterday, today, and forever. He will not leave you nor forsake you and he will lead you both in the right direction.

Let's pray together:

Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, we come to you with a heavy heart. We lift up this man who is in a toxic environment, and we ask that You will convict him to leave and return home. We pray for guidance and wisdom in their relationship, that it may honor and glorify You. We ask that they trust in Your perfect will and timing for their lives.

As well we pray for their relationship. That they will do things in a way that honors you. That they will be married if they are not already and if they are not married, that they do not engage in sex before marriage. We pray that they have the strength to resist temptation and flee from sexual immorality. We pray that they will seek a godly relationship that leads to a godly marriage.

If they do not know Jesus, we pray that they will be saved. That they will believe in Jesus, that they will be baptized, and that they will live their lives for Jesus.

We ask this all in Jesus' name.

We encourage you both to study the Bible and seek God's will for your lives. May God bless you both and guide you in your relationship.

Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart.
