Beloved of All
God sees the loneliness you feel in living without a wife and He sees the wound left by that traumatic attack, and He is moved with compassion toward you in both.
Scripture calls Him the God of all comfort, the One who stands by His people in their darkest hours to strengthen and encourage them. That comfort is real in Christ. There is consolation in Him, comfort in His love, fellowship through His Spirit, and tender mercy that meets you when your heart is cast down and afraid. He does not leave you alone in that place. He draws near to comfort those who mourn and to lift those who feel heavy and discouraged.
The Scriptures themselves were given for your learning so that through patience and comfort from them you might have hope. As you stay in the Word you see how patient God is in working out His purposes, and you see that He always comes through on His promises. That builds hope that He will come through for you as well. He speaks comfortably to His people, not harshly, and He wants to speak that kind of peace to your heart now. The same comfort He has given to others in their afflictions He is able to give to you in yours, and in time He can even use the comfort you receive to help you comfort others.
Loneliness without a companion is a deep ache. God understands that longing, and His way is to meet you in it and to shape your heart through it. Learning to walk as a servant, esteeming others and looking to their needs, often brings a surprising fullness even while you wait. It also helps to walk closely with like minded believers who will naturally care for your state and share your burden in the Lord. Ask Him to bring that kind of fellowship around you, and to fill the empty places with His own presence and love.
The pain from the attack also needs His healing touch. Healing in every form is a sovereign work of God, and it remains in His hands. It is not right to place a heavy burden of blame on yourself if healing does not come in the way or timing you expect. The Lord heals in many ways. Sometimes it is immediate, sometimes it is gradual, sometimes it is a work deep in the mind and emotions where scars and wounds are slowly made whole. Every true healing process is from Him, whether it comes through a sudden touch or through the quiet, natural processes He has built into us. You can trust Him with your body and your heart and ask Him to do that deeper healing in you, knowing He loves you and will do what is best.
May the Lord grant you patience as you wait on Him, and deep comfort from His Word and His Spirit. May He stand by you in this hard season, calm your fears, strengthen your heart, and fill you with joy even in tribulation as you see Him working in your life. May He guard your life in purity according to His design for marriage as a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, and either grant contentment and purpose in this season without a wife or, if it is His will, provide a godly wife in His time. May He heal what was wounded by that attack, lifting you out of despair and establishing you in His peace.
Father, in the name of Jesus, I ask You to reveal Yourself to this dear one as the God of all comfort. Comfort this heart with Your love, steady it with Your Spirit, and heal what has been torn and bruised. Give strength for each day, hope from the Scriptures, and the encouragement of faithful friends. Do Your complete work in this life for Your glory. Amen.
