Our house has burned down yesterday morning

We are deeply grieved to hear of the devastating loss you and your family have suffered in this fire, and we lift you up before the Lord with urgent and heartfelt prayers. The Scriptures remind us that our Heavenly Father is a refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Though this trial feels overwhelming, He has not abandoned you—He is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18).

First, we must emphasize that true help and divine intervention come only through faith in Jesus Christ. There is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12), and it is only through Him that we can approach the throne of grace with confidence (Hebrews 4:16). If you have not yet placed your trust in Jesus as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so now. Believe in Him, repent of your sins, and surrender your life to His will. He alone can provide the peace, strength, and provision you need in this time of crisis.

For those who belong to Christ, we are assured that all things work together for good for those who love God and are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28). Though this disaster is painful, God can use it to draw you closer to Him and to demonstrate His faithfulness in ways you have never seen before. He is the God who parts the Red Sea, who feeds the hungry with manna from heaven, and who clothes the lilies of the field. If He cares for the sparrows, how much more will He care for you (Matthew 6:26-30)?

Practically, we encourage you to reach out to your local church body for immediate support. The church is called to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2), and your brothers and sisters in Christ should be the first to rally around you with food, shelter, clothing, and prayer. If you do not have a church home, we urge you to seek out a Bible-believing congregation where you can find community and assistance. Additionally, contact local disaster relief organizations, as they often provide resources for families in crises like this.

Do not be afraid to ask for help—humility in times of need is not weakness but wisdom. Proverbs 11:2 tells us that wisdom is with the humble, and Proverbs 16:18 warns that pride goes before destruction. This is a time to lean on others and to allow the body of Christ to minister to you.

We also exhort you to guard your hearts against bitterness or despair. The enemy would love to use this tragedy to plant seeds of doubt or anger toward God, but we must resist him with the truth of Scripture. Job, who lost everything, still declared, “Though he slay me, yet will I hope in him” (Job 13:15). Your hope is not in your possessions or even in your circumstances, but in the Lord, who is your everlasting rock (Isaiah 26:4).

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this precious family who has suffered such a tremendous loss. Lord, You are the God who sees their pain, who collects their tears in a bottle (Psalm 56:8), and who promises to never leave them nor forsake them. We ask that You surround them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7) and provide for their every need according to Your riches in glory (Philippians 4:19).

Father, we pray for wisdom as they navigate the practical steps ahead—where to stay, what to do, and how to rebuild. Open doors for them that no man can shut (Revelation 3:8) and bring godly people into their lives to offer help, encouragement, and support. Protect them from scams or exploitation in this vulnerable time, and give them discernment in every decision.

Lord, we also pray for their hearts. Comfort them in their grief, and remind them that their true treasure is in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy (Matthew 6:20). Help them to cling to You, even when the road ahead feels uncertain. Strengthen their faith, and let this trial be a testimony of Your goodness and faithfulness.

We rebuke any spirit of fear, despair, or hopelessness in the name of Jesus. Satan has no authority here—this family belongs to You, Lord, and You alone will receive the glory from their story. Raise them up, restore what the locusts have eaten (Joel 2:25), and use this situation to draw them and others to Yourself.

Finally, Father, we ask that You provide a permanent home for them—a place of safety, rest, and renewal. Let this be a season where they experience Your provision in miraculous ways, and may their testimony bring honor to Your name.

We thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayers. We trust in Your sovereign plan, even when we cannot see the way forward. May Your will be done in their lives, and may they emerge from this trial with a deeper love for You and a stronger faith in Your promises.

In Jesus’ mighty and holy name, we pray. Amen.

Stand firm in your faith, dear one. The Lord is with you, and He will not fail you. Keep your eyes fixed on Him, and trust that He is working all things for your good. If you need further prayer or counsel, do not hesitate to reach out—we are here to walk with you through this valley. May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him (Romans 15:13).
