Our food is being poisoned.

50-60 years ago, food was much more natural, that's why people back then were much healthier. Now everything is poisoned!! Everything is covered in chemicals!!!!! That's why anxiety, and depression are a lot more common than they used to be. Our food is supposed to be fuel for our body, but now it's slowly killing us off!!! IT INFURIATES ME TO NO END!!!!!! Food in general doesn't taste as good as it used to anymore!! I don't even know what, if anything, is safe to eat anymore!!!! I'm fed up with not being able to get healthy food!!! I don't even know if I should even trust the organic and non-GMO labels!!! I'm fed up with being poisoned and watching innocent people suffering!!! I can't even fathom why more people are not outraged about it!!! Please! PLEASE!!! Pray that something will get done about this once and for all!!!!! IN JESUS' NAME!!!!!!!

We hear your deep frustration and grief over what you are seeing happen to our food and to people's health, and we join with you in bringing this burden before the Lord. We understand that feeling of helplessness and righteous concern when something God created to nourish us seems to be corrupted, and when you see innocent people suffering from anxiety, depression and illness. Your heart to see this made right is understandable, and we want to pray with you and share some biblical encouragement.

God created food as good and for our benefit. Genesis 1:29 says God said, Behold, I have given you every herb yielding seed, which is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree, which bears fruit yielding seed. It will be your food. And 1 Timothy 4:4-5 reminds us, For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be rejected, if it is received with thanksgiving. For it is sanctified through the word of God and prayer. Our bodies are not our own to be neglected, for we are taught in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s. So your desire for pure, healthy food that truly fuels the body is a godly desire to steward well what God has given.

We also hear how much anger and anxiety this has stirred in you, and we want to gently encourage you as scripture does to guard your heart even as you contend for what is right. Ephesians 4:26 says Be angry, and don’t sin. Don’t let the sun go down on your wrath, and James 1:19-20 tells us to be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger, for the anger of man doesn’t produce the righteousness of God. Your outrage comes from a place of caring, but we pray the Lord will keep it from turning into a bitterness or constant anxiety that robs you of His peace. Philippians 4:6-7 gives us this promise, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Matthew 6:25-34 also reminds us that our heavenly Father knows what we need and calls us to seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness, trusting Him to provide.

We do not dismiss your concerns about chemicals and the changing quality of food, and we agree that wisdom and accountability are needed among those who grow, produce and regulate our food. We pray for conviction and integrity for farmers, corporations and leaders, and that God would raise up those who will act honestly and justly. Proverbs 3:5-6 calls us to Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Even when we cannot fully trust labels or systems, we can trust the Lord to guide us to make wise choices, to give thanks and pray over our food as it is sanctified by prayer, and to provide for our needs day by day.

In practical ways we encourage you to continue to seek wisdom, to pray over every meal with thanksgiving, to choose as wisely as you are able within your means, perhaps seeking local growers or simple whole foods when possible, and to not let fear about food dominate your thoughts. If anxiety and distress feel overwhelming, we encourage you to seek godly counsel and community as well.

We now pray together with you in Jesus' name, and we thank you for praying in His name for it is through Him we have access to the Father.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this heavy burden about our food supply. Lord, You created all things good and You designed food to nourish us, and we ask You to have mercy on us. We pray for Your hand of protection over our bodies and the bodies of our loved ones. We pray for healing for those suffering from anxiety, depression and illness, and that You would restore health and strength according to Your will. Lord, we pray that You would move upon the hearts of those in authority, those who farm, produce and regulate food, that they would act with honesty, integrity and fear of You, and that what is harmful would be exposed and corrected. Give us wisdom as Your people to steward our bodies well and to make discerning choices, and give us peace that surpasses all understanding when we feel overwhelmed and outraged. Help us to be angry without sinning and to rest in Your sovereignty, knowing that You see all things and that You are our ultimate provider and protector. Sanctify our food by Your Word and prayer, and let us receive it with thanksgiving. We ask that Your will be done and that You would bring restoration and justice in this area for Your glory. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

Thank you for bringing this burden to us so plainly. We can hear how exhausting and infuriating it feels to wonder what is safe to eat and to feel like no one else sees what you see.

When every meal feels like a question mark, it is understandable to feel overwhelmed and even angry. That anger shows you care deeply about health, for yourself and for others, and God can use that care, but carrying it alone day after day wears down body and spirit.

We want to stand with you in prayer, and also encourage you with a couple of steady next steps. It can help to talk through these food worries with a trusted medical professional or counselor who can listen to your specific concerns and help you sort through options in a calm, personal way, alongside prayer. It may also help to notice what feeds the worry most, like constant headlines or social media, and give yourself permission to step back from those voices for a time and focus on simple, manageable choices you can make today.

Father, we bring this friend to You. You see the frustration and the desire for good, nourishing food and for people to be well. Grant peace where there is turmoil, wisdom for daily decisions, and hope that rests in You rather than in fear. Guide those with responsibility for our food supply toward care and integrity, and guard this heart and health in Your love. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your burden has been heard, and the heaviness and indignation you feel over the food set before us and the suffering you see around you is understood. It is a grievous thing to feel that what should be fuel for the body has become a source of fear, and to not know what is safe to eat, and to watch others suffer while few seem to share your concern. The Lord knows this trouble and He marks the sighs of His people.

Be encouraged to look first to Him who is the God of peace. He created all things very good in the beginning, and when sin brought brokenness and war into His creation, He did not leave us without hope. He is the restorer of peace through the blood of the everlasting covenant, having brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that we might have peace with God through Him. Being justified by faith we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, and that peace passes all understanding and keeps the heart and mind. There is a peace which the world cannot give, founded upon eternal truth and sealed by atoning blood, and there is a false peace which requires us to forget God in order to feel calm. O taste and see that the peace of God is good, for it alone is solid and abiding.

Your letter speaks of anxiety and depression growing, and of fury that will not rest. The Scripture speaks tenderly to this. You are not to be consumed with anxious care about what you shall eat or what you shall drink, but to do the right thing in the fear of God and then to leave the result with Him. What we can do and what we cannot do we may both leave with Him who performs all things for us. To know the will of Jesus and to do it is to abide in the peace of God. If you are burdened by sin and sorrow, look to the Son of God pouring out His life, and trust Him, for He who begins a good work will complete it. Take God at His word and believe Him, for He cannot cast away the soul that trusts in Christ.

Therefore let us pray together, and let us also walk in wisdom. Give thanks for your daily bread, asking the Lord to sanctify it, and use such prudence and stewardship as God gives you to choose what is wholesome, without letting suspicion become the ruler of your heart. Pray for those who labor in fields and kitchens and laboratories and halls of governance, that God would grant them honesty and wisdom. And above all, cry unto God most high, unto God that performs all things for you, that He would grant you His own peace within, that little kingdom within where Christ reigns.

May the God of peace, who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, make you holy and keep you in perfect peace as your mind is stayed on Him. May He lift from you the weight of fury and fear, and give you rest in His providence, knowing that He shall at last perfect and consummate peace between Himself and all His children. We ask Him to provide for your bodily needs, to guide you to what is needful, to guard the innocent who suffer, and to move the hearts of those who have power to act with justice and mercy, all according to His good will.

We commend you to His mercy and truth, praying in the name of Jesus Christ our peace, who loved peace, preached peace, lived in peace, died in peace, and now dwells in peace before the throne. Amen.
