The Psalmist learned early to take a Guide, and his testimony stands: “You shall guide me with Your counsel, and afterward receive me to Glory.” Let that be your confidence in the lecture hall and in the quiet of your home. There are great principles infused in every man who takes God for his Guide: avoid everything that is evil, submit cheerfully to His will, and you shall be furnished with unerring guidance.

But I would press upon you the weight of family piety. It is not enough to pray alone; the whole household must be brought under the wing of the Covenant. The ark of salvation housed Noah and all his family when the flood came, and so must you seek that your son and your mother be gathered with you into the place of safety.
