Open doors in this heat

You ask for open doors, for cooling in this heat, and for protection from evil ones. These are small things to the Lord, yet you treat them as though His arm were shortened. Do you not know that the same power which loosed Paul's chains and shook the prison foundations can also make this scorching air a gentle breeze, and can fling wide every door of opportunity for your learning? The real obstacle is not the heat or a closed campus. It is the lukewarmness of your own heart. You cry out for bodily comfort and convenient courses, while the furnace of your soul remains unquenched. Which is worse: to sweat for an hour, or to burn forever? Which is the greater gain: a certificate from an online class, or the mind of Christ?

You ask Jesus to take control. He already holds all things in His hand, even the evil ones you fear. He permits them to prowl for a season, as He permits thieves and murderers to walk the earth, because now is not the day of judgment but the time for you to choose the narrow way. The devil's kingdom is of this age only, a dark mist that will vanish at the dawn. So why do you tremble at phantoms? The servant of Christ in bonds has more true liberty than the tyrant on his throne. If your faith were but the size of a mustard seed, you would understand that the very things you see as hindrances are the soil in which virtue grows. Heat teaches patience. Closed doors teach dependence on God. The presence of evil men gives you a chance to bless, not curse.

You ask Him to keep the evil ones away. But hear this: it is a greater work to keep your own tongue from reviling them. What does it profit you to be rid of wicked neighbors if your heart remains a nest of anger, pride, and sloth? You pray about the weather and your schedule, while the passions inside you go unchecked. The pure in heart will see God, not those who merely have air conditioning and open enrollment. Cleanse the inner cistern, and the outward circumstances will take their proper place. Until then, your prayers remain the muttering of a soul too comfortable in its own sickness.

Seek first the kingdom, and these smaller things will be added or become unnecessary. The Lord who opened the eyes of the blind can certainly open a door for your studies, but He may keep it shut to teach you that His grace is sufficient without them. The furnace of affliction, whether of heat or of human opposition, burns away the dross of the leisurely, self-absorbed spirit. Do not ask to flee the battle. Ask instead for the strength to stand in it, with loins girt and lamp burning. Then you will find that the very chains of circumstance become the means by which you set others free.

The cry of your heart for open doors is evidence that God is already at work, stirring desires that align with His purposes. True prayer does not begin with our list of needs, it begins with a relationship. If you have come to Him through Jesus Christ, you are His child, and the Father’s ear is always open to your voice. That relationship changes everything. You are not shouting into an empty sky; you are speaking to a God who sees you, knows the heat you are walking through, and is fully in control.

Your request shows a right order: you have acknowledged Jesus as Lord, and your plea for opportunities, for cooling relief, and for protection flows from that. Remember what our Lord taught us, prayer is first about the Father’s kingdom and His will, and then about our daily needs. So as you seek these courses, whether online or nearby, let your deepest desire be to serve His purposes through them. Ask Him to direct your steps, and trust that He opens doors no one can shut when the time is right. The heat may feel oppressive, but He is your shade and your refreshment. He knows exactly how to supply both physical relief and the wisdom you need to move forward.

You also asked to be kept from evil ones. That is a sober and biblical request. Evil is real, and it often wears a pleasant face. The prudent man sees evil ahead and hides himself in the safety God provides, not in fear, but in the shelter of Christ. God hates evil, and He calls us to hate it too, never to tolerate it or let our guard down. But deliverance is not merely about keeping bad people away; it is also about guarding your own heart. Out of the heart come all the defiling things, evil thoughts, deceit, bitterness. Keep your tongue from speaking what is false or spiteful, and pursue peace even when others do not. That is the kind of life the Spirit empowers, a life that walks away from evil instead of playing with it.

When people rise up against you, or when circumstances seem designed to wear you down, do not fret over those who do wrong. The Lord’s eyes are on the righteous, and His ears are open to your cry. He is actively looking for people to bless, for hearts that trust Him. If you have taken refuge in Him, He will send help from heaven and silence the schemes of those who seek your harm. The same mouth that cried, “Keep these evil ones away” can also sing His praise, because He is faithful to perform all things for you. So stay open before Him, confess any secret sin, and let His Spirit bring your whole life under His control. He is your hiding place, and under His wings you will find quiet from the fear of evil. May you walk forward in that confidence, knowing that every door He opens is good, and every evil thing must bow before His name.

We are so grateful you shared your heart with us and allowed us to stand with you in prayer for open doors during this season of heat. It has been our joy to lift up your desire for God’s blessing, cooling provision, and opportunities to grow through online or nearby campus courses. We continue to ask our Heavenly Father to guide each step, trusting that Jesus is indeed in control of every detail in your life.

If the Lord has already answered your prayer—whether through unexpected favor, relief from the heat, or clear direction about your studies—we would love to celebrate with you! Please share a praise report so we can rejoice together in His faithfulness. If the answer hasn’t come yet, or if new needs have arisen, we invite you to post your request again so we may persist in prayer alongside you. Either way, we remain confident that God hears and moves according to His perfect will.

May His peace guard your heart, His wisdom light your path, and His protection shield you from every evil plan. We ask all these things in the powerful name of Jesus. Amen.
