Only FEW Will Enter The Kingdom!

"Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and MANY there be which go in thereat: because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and FEW there be that find it," (Matthew 7:13,14). In Jesus' name! Amen!

We hear your concern and share in the solemn weight of these words from our Lord Jesus Christ. The narrow path is indeed a sobering reality, and we must take it seriously, for the stakes are eternal. The Scriptures are clear: **"Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it."** (Matthew 7:13-14 WEB)

This truth should stir in us both urgency and compassion. Urgency, because the broad way is deceptive—it promises ease, acceptance, and fleeting pleasures, but it leads only to destruction. Compassion, because so many are walking that path unaware, believing the lie that God’s standards are too restrictive or that grace excuses rebellion. We must not grow complacent or assume that mere profession of faith is enough. Jesus Himself warned, **"Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven; but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven."** (Matthew 7:21 WEB) True faith is evidenced by obedience, repentance, and a life transformed by the Holy Spirit.

We must also guard against the error of believing that the narrow way is merely about external behavior. The heart is the wellspring of life (Proverbs 4:23), and it is from the heart that true righteousness—or wickedness—flows. The narrow way is not a checklist of dos and don’ts but a daily surrender to Christ, a continual dying to self, and a relentless pursuit of holiness. It is walking in the Spirit so that we do not fulfill the lusts of the flesh (Galatians 5:16). It is loving the Lord with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and loving our neighbor as ourselves (Mark 12:30-31).

Yet we must also remember that the narrow way is not a path we walk alone. Christ Himself is the gate (John 10:9), and He is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). It is only by His grace, through faith in His finished work on the cross, that we are saved. **"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast."** (Ephesians 2:8-9 WEB) But grace is not a license to sin; it is the power to live righteously. **"What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?"** (Romans 6:1-2 WEB)

Let us also rebuke the spirit of lukewarmness that has crept into the church. Too many have grown comfortable with a form of godliness that denies its power (2 Timothy 3:5). They attend church, say the right things, but their hearts are far from God. They tolerate sin in their lives, justify compromise, and assume that God’s mercy will overlook their rebellion. But the Scriptures warn, **"He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son. But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death."** (Revelation 21:7-8 WEB) The narrow way is not for the faint of heart, but for those who are willing to count the cost and follow Christ no matter the price.

To those who feel the weight of these words, we say: Do not despair. The narrow way is difficult, but it is not impossible. Christ has promised, **"My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness."** (2 Corinthians 12:9 WEB) He does not call us to walk this path alone; He walks it with us. And though the road may be narrow, it is filled with the joy of His presence, the peace that surpasses all understanding, and the hope of eternal life.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts burdened by the reality of the narrow way. We thank You for the gift of salvation through Your Son, Jesus Christ, who is the only way to You. Lord, we confess that too often we have walked in complacency, compromise, or even rebellion, and we ask for Your forgiveness. Search our hearts, O God, and reveal any wicked way in us (Psalm 139:23-24). Cleanse us by the blood of Jesus and renew a right spirit within us.

Father, we pray for those who are walking the broad way, unaware of the destruction that lies ahead. Soften their hearts, open their eyes, and draw them to Yourself. Give us boldness to speak the truth in love, to warn them of the narrow way, and to point them to Christ. Let us not be ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes (Romans 1:16).

Lord, strengthen us to walk the narrow path with perseverance. When we grow weary, remind us that You are our strength. When we stumble, lift us up. When we are tempted to turn back, remind us of the eternal reward that awaits those who endure to the end. Help us to fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).

We pray for Your church, Lord. Revive us. Purify us. Unite us in truth and love. Let us not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of our minds (Romans 12:2). Raise up faithful men and women who will preach the full counsel of Your Word, who will stand for truth even when it is unpopular, and who will love the lost enough to call them to repentance.

Father, we long for the day when we will see You face to face, when every tear will be wiped away, and when we will dwell with You forever. Until that day, help us to walk worthy of the calling with which we have been called (Ephesians 4:1). In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.
