Why Do They In Funerals Always Say The Deceased Went To Heaven!

Why in ALL funerals is it said that the deceased went to heaven? Why is that? That is NOT what Jesus said. Jesus said "Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and MANY there be which go in thereat: because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way which leadeth unto life, and FEW there be that find it," (Matthew 7;13,14). ONLY FEW will enter the kingdom according to Jesus. So all the deception of being told in a funeral that the deceased went to heaven is a lie. Sadly to say we see this in the end time Church that has fallen away from the truth, and unto fables. But then judgment shall begin in the house of God before it goes to the world. In the name of Jesus! Amen!

We hear your deep concern and share your passion for biblical truth. It is indeed troubling when well-meaning people at funerals assume that every deceased person has automatically entered heaven, especially when Scripture clearly teaches that the path to eternal life is narrow and few find it (Matthew 7:13-14). Jesus Himself warned that many will claim to know Him but will be turned away because they did not truly follow His ways (Matthew 7:21-23). This is a sobering reality that must not be softened or ignored.

The assumption that all who die go to heaven reflects a dangerous cultural shift away from the fear of the Lord and the necessity of repentance and faith in Christ alone. The apostle Paul wrote, "For all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23), and "the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 6:23). Salvation is not earned by good works or inherited by family ties—it is received only through faith in Jesus Christ, who said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). Without this personal relationship with Him, there is no assurance of heaven.

We must also address the state of the Church today, as you rightly pointed out. Many have exchanged the truth of God’s Word for comforting fables, avoiding the hard truths about sin, judgment, and the exclusivity of Christ. The apostle Paul warned Timothy, "For the time will come when they will not listen to the sound doctrine, but, having itching ears, will heap up for themselves teachers after their own lusts" (2 Timothy 4:3). This is a sign of the end times, and we must stand firm on the Word of God, even when it is unpopular.

Let us pray together for discernment, boldness, and revival in the Church:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, grieved by the deception that has crept into Your house. We ask for Your mercy and truth to prevail. Lord, open the eyes of Your people to the narrow path that leads to life. Give us the courage to speak Your truth in love, even when it is uncomfortable. Raise up faithful pastors, teachers, and believers who will not compromise Your Word for the sake of comfort or popularity. We pray for those who have been misled by false assurances of salvation—draw them to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. Let judgment begin in Your house, that Your people may be refined and Your name glorified. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus, the only name by which we can be saved. Amen.

We encourage you to stand firm in the truth, even when others may resist it. Share the gospel with gentleness and respect, remembering that it is the kindness of God that leads to repentance (Romans 2:4). Pray for those who are deceived, that their hearts may be softened to receive the truth. And above all, examine your own heart, ensuring that your faith is rooted in Christ alone, for "if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved" (Romans 10:9). Only then can we have true assurance of heaven.

We understand your concern, dear friend. It's indeed troubling when well-meaning people at funerals assume that every deceased person has gone to heaven, especially when Jesus clearly taught that the path to eternal life is narrow and few find it. It's a reminder that we should not presume the salvation of others, but rather, trust in the Lord's mercy and the power of the gospel to save.

We've seen a shift in our culture and even in the Church, where the fear of the Lord and the necessity of repentance and faith in Christ alone are often downplayed. But we must remember, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23), and "the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 6:23). Salvation is not earned by good works or inherited by family ties; it's received through faith in Jesus Christ alone (John 14:6).

Let's pray together for the Church, that we may be a beacon of truth and love in this world:

"Father, we come to You with humble hearts, grieved by the deception that has crept into Your Church. We ask for Your mercy and truth to prevail. Lord, open our eyes to the narrow path that leads to life. Give us the courage to speak Your truth in love, even when it's uncomfortable. Raise up faithful pastors, teachers, and believers who will not compromise Your Word for the sake of comfort or popularity. We pray for those who have been misled by false assurances of salvation - draw them to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. Let judgment begin in Your house, that Your people may be refined and Your name glorified. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus, the only name by which we can be saved. Amen."

Let's stand firm in the truth, dear friend, even when others resist it. Share the gospel with gentleness and respect, remembering that it's the kindness of God that leads to repentance (Romans 2:4). Pray for those who are deceived, that their hearts may be softened to receive the truth. And above all, examine your own heart, ensuring that your faith is rooted in Christ alone (Romans 10:9). Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.

Healed Spirit Soul And Body

We have been lifting this heavy burden before the Lord these past days, asking Him to give you clarity, peace, and a renewed sense of His truth in the midst of such troubling observations. It grieves our hearts to see the confusion and deception that can surround even the most sacred moments of life and death, and we have prayed that the Holy Spirit would guide you into all truth, just as Jesus promised.

We have asked the Father to strengthen your faith as you stand on the unshakable foundation of Scripture, even when it feels like so many around you are clinging to traditions or well-meaning but misguided comforts. The narrow way is not always an easy path to walk, especially when it sets us apart from what is commonly accepted, but we have prayed that you would find courage in the knowledge that Christ Himself walked that road before you.

We have also interceded for the Church—that she would be awakened to the urgency of proclaiming the full counsel of God, not just the parts that bring temporary comfort. May the Lord raise up faithful shepherds who will boldly declare the truth about salvation, judgment, and the hope of eternal life, so that none may be led astray by false assurances.

If the Lord has already provided you with answers, encouragement, or a deeper sense of His presence since you posted this request, we would be so blessed to hear how He has moved. Your testimony could be a light to others who are wrestling with the same questions. And if the weight of this concern still lingers, we want you to know that we are still here, still standing with you in prayer, and still trusting that God will reveal His purposes in His perfect timing.

May the Lord bless you with His peace that surpasses all understanding as you continue to seek Him through His Word and in prayer. We ask all these things in the powerful and precious name of Jesus. Amen.
