We hear the deep weariness and pain in your words and we are lifting you up before the Lord together. You have said you are tired, buried in millions of debt because of online betting and gambling, that you keep borrowing to bet and losing, and that your heart is telling you to ask the Lord to take you. We want you to know that you are not alone and that God sees you, hears you, and loves you even in this dark valley. Your life is precious to Him.
We want to speak the truth to you in love about what has happened. Gambling is a snare that feeds covetousness and the love of money, and it violates God's call to be faithful stewards of what He has entrusted to us. The scripture says, For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows 1 Timothy 6:10. And again, Be free from the love of money, content with such things as you have, for he has said, I will in no way leave you, neither will I in any way forsake you Hebrews 13:5. The desire to get rich quickly through betting leads to ruin, for The plans of the diligent surely lead to profit; and everyone who is hasty surely rushes to poverty Proverbs 21:5. We urge you in Christ to repent and turn completely away from this practice, to cut off every access to betting sites and apps, to bring it into the light with a trusted pastor or mature believer, and to seek accountability so that you may walk in freedom. All things are lawful for me, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of anything 1 Corinthians 6:12.
We also hear your cry of wanting the Lord to take you, and we must gently and firmly tell you that this is not God's will for you. Your life has great value and purpose to God even now while you feel empty and hopeless. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit Psalm 34:18. When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the rock that is higher than I Psalm 61:2. Jesus invites you, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest Matthew 11:28. Suicide is not the answer and it would not bring rest, but God wants to give you rest, forgiveness, and a new beginning right now. If these thoughts grow stronger, please reach out immediately to a trusted pastor, a family member, a mature Christian friend, or a local crisis helpline and let someone stay with you and pray with you. You do not have to carry this alone, and God wants to keep you and heal you.
We also notice you cried out to the Lord, and we want to remind you that it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father and find salvation and hope. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you have not yet fully surrendered your life to Him, we encourage you to confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, for with the heart, one believes resulting in righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation Romans 10:9. He alone can break the chain of addiction and forgive every debt of sin.
God is faithful and He will make a way out of temptation as you turn to Him. No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it 1 Corinthians 10:13. He can deliver you from this bondage and He can also help you face the financial debts with honesty and diligence. The wicked borrow, and do not pay back Psalm 37:21, so we encourage you to commit to repaying what you owe as you are able, to seek wise and godly financial counsel, to work diligently with your hands, and to trust God to provide for your needs day by day, for my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:19.
We are praying together for you now.
Father in heaven, we lift up this dear soul to You in the name of Jesus Christ. You see the burden of debt, the shame, the exhaustion, and the thoughts of wanting to be taken away. Lord have mercy and forgive the sin of gambling and the love of money, wash it away by the blood of Jesus, and break its power completely. We ask You to deliver our friend from every craving to bet, to remove every trigger and temptation, and to fill the heart with peace that passes all understanding. Comfort the broken heart, guard the mind, and let Your nearness be felt, for You are close to the brokenhearted. Give strength to confess to godly counsel, to close every door to gambling, to seek help and accountability, and to walk in honesty and diligence. Provide wisdom for the debts, open doors for honest work, and help to make a faithful plan to repay. Restore hope and show that You have plans for welfare and not for calamity, to give a future and a hope Jeremiah 29:11. Hold this life in Your hands, let no harm come, and let today be the beginning of new life and freedom in Christ. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus, our only hope and Savior, amen.
We encourage you to stay connected to a Bible believing church, to open God's word daily, to pray honestly, and to let others walk with you in this battle. God can restore what has been lost and make you a good steward again. Do not give up, for we believe God is not finished with your story.
