Beloved of All
Your words show how heavy this burden has become and how tired you are. To be caught in a cycle of borrowing to bet and losing again, with debts that feel like millions and nothing left to show for it, can bring a person to a place where even living feels too hard and the thought comes, Lord please take me. God hears that cry and He does not turn away from it. Your life is precious to Him and this despair is not the end of your story.
Many people come to this same place of complete helplessness when they try to fix themselves. At first the cry is, how can I deliver myself, how can I get control, how can I win it back. That effort only sinks a person deeper. The change comes when the question becomes, who will deliver me. That is the turning point the Scripture talks about in Romans chapter 7 and chapter 8. Chapter 7 shows the depth of despair when we see what is right and try in our own strength to do it and fail. Chapter 8 shows the way out, not by our own power but by the work of God through Jesus Christ and by His Spirit within us. God sometimes allows us to come to the very bottom of our own efforts so that we stop trusting ourselves and stop trying to earn the victory, and then when deliverance comes we know it is His work and He receives the glory. He is the one who causes us to triumph through Christ.
Part of what makes gambling so trapping is that it promises escape. When reality feels hopeless, people look for a way out, and compulsive gambling is one of those escapes, along with many others. It offers excitement for a moment, but it is empty and it never solves the pain. It only adds debt and shame and deeper hopelessness. The escape itself becomes the prison.
You also described debt you cannot pay. In the Bible, when a person could not pay a debt he became like a slave to it, and only a kinsman, a family redeemer, could step in and pay what he could not pay to set him free. That is the picture of what Jesus does for us. The Bible says everyone who sins is a slave to sin, and we owe a debt we could never repay. Jesus came as our Redeemer and paid that debt Himself to set us free. He can also begin to set you free from the slavery of this habit. He does not free you so you can return to it, He frees you to walk in a new way, with a new master and a new power.
Despair also grows when we see only half the truth, only what is in front of us, without taking God into account. Fear and despair magnify the problem and make it look final. We cry out that all is lost, when God is still at work and has not finished His chapter. If you could see what God can do with a surrendered life, you would find reason to hope instead of reason to give up. Like David when he was overwhelmed and felt trapped, the cure for that deep discouragement was to turn his heart and mind toward God and put his trust in Him and in His word, and then confidence began to replace anxiety.
God does not want you to stay in this cycle. Bring this fully into the light before Him. Confess to Him honestly that you are powerless over this and that you need Him to be your deliverer. Ask Jesus to forgive you and to be Lord of your life, trusting alone in what He did for you on the cross. Then take practical steps in that same honesty. Stop all betting and cut off access to it, tell a trusted mature believer or pastor what has happened, and ask for help with accountability and for wise counsel about the debts. Do not borrow more to bet. If thoughts of wanting God to take your life continue, please reach out right away to a trusted person near you and to a counselor or pastor, and if you feel you might act on those thoughts seek help immediately.
I am praying for you, that God will lift this heavy weight, that He will be your Redeemer in every sense, that He will break the hold of gambling, give you strength by His Spirit day by day, and provide wisdom for each debt and each decision. You do not have to carry this alone any longer, and you do not have to deliver yourself. Call upon the one who can deliver you, and keep turning your heart to Him.

Forgive sin, break the chains of this compulsion, and fill this heart with hope through Your Spirit. Give courage to seek help, to walk honestly, and to trust You one step at a time. Amen.
