what would happen if a person were to "fully" surrender there life to God? knowing before hand that it can cost you your dreams, aspirations, plans, and even the welfare of the ones you love? now think about this in terms of your life.. think about the job you have.. the family you have.. and the security you've built for years.. what if God told you to give that all up in total surrender, and yes even your family (Example: asking you to be a missionary where you will most likely become a martyr) and no its not unlikely because men and woman of the faith are dying more than they've ever have in the 21st century than anyother century combined!
now before you start to reset your mind to what you've always known to be "true" and write off what you don't like to be reading, I want you to see something that is chilling to the bone, a scripture verse I've found to be most sad yet sobering.
" now, will not God bring about justice for His elect who cry to Him day and night, and will He delay long over them? I tell you that He will bring about justice for them quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?†- Luke 18:7-8.
Here we see Jesus talking about prayer and this is him speaking to the people about how prayer accomplishes great things. in other words Jesus was saying something that went like this, "prayer moves mountains and accomplishes things, it has the power to bring you to the most high God, yet even though this is true, and when I return, will there be men and woman who fully understand this? in the last days, even then there wont be many that have understood my words."
I'm sorry but mediocre wasn't what Jesus was getting at here, as if to live our lives being a fan of Jesus and living in sin rather than a follower, a follower who knows the cost. the TRUE COST.. the cost that brings a believer in tears on there knees crying out to God saying, "yes God you can have my family, my money, my life" you recieve from God what you give. you give him nothing from you life, he'll do the same, but if you give him every aspect of your life, he'll give you so much of himself.
total surrender wasnt just one area of life He wanted from you when you "gladly" gave your life to God. total surrender has been a work of understanding daily. Because I tell ya, when you start to read the word of God, it aint just a one time act. It's a change of heart, lifestyle, mind, and spirit daily.
now lets look at one more verse,
"Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’" - Matthew 7:21-23.
I tell you this and with the utmost seriousness, tell me a non believer who is saying "lord lord" and casting out demons?Dont be so nieve, Jesus Christ is talking about your everyday congregation and people who profess to be christians. None of my non beliving friends are saying "LORD LORD" its me whos saying LORD LORD! no body wants to talk about these faith shaking bible verses because we would rather live in ignorance than in truth. Its so EASY to live ignorant than to live in Truth. Living in truth is the most hardest thing a christian can do. Ignorance is so easy because it has become routine to us, in the sense that we are not wrestling with our faith, we are not wrestling with issues and bible verses and even God.
There is something happening with Gods people in todays generation, I can see it and I've felt it in my own heart. there is a coldness and mediocre zeal about a God. Something is sweeping this land in the heart of christians in our western world. doesn't anybody notice this? doesn't anyone care? we've been doing christianity like this for years so it must be true, right?
I'm sick and tired of reading books about people who truly knew God, I'm tired of the fake happiness that is expressed when it comes to God. I'm tired of the christians who profess God with there mouth and don't live like as if Jesus were right behind them. you know if God was all I need why am I so unhappy and so insecure? why am I so affraid? why is my day so caught up with things of this life, -banned site-, cellphone, friends, ect. rather than with God. I dont even feel like reading my bible or praying because I'll be forced to do it on Sunday and thats if I choose to go on Sunday. Have you ever felt like this?
The true marks of a christian are people who wrestle with God, and spend many hours in prayer. people who wrestle with there faith and issues. who have gotten weary of the battle because to Go on would mean more pain and opposition with Satan. The True mark of a christian are people who live in truth through the empowering of the Holy Spirit. A true Christian is someone who doesn't base there faith on feelings, but on there will.
You can tell a great deal about a christian, just by how much time they spend with God alone in prayer and bible reading
