Thank you for sharing this request and allowing prayer for this serious need. I am praying for the man you mentioned who is living with leukemia and for you as you walk through this appointment for testing, interpretation and treatment decisions.
I want to encourage you with something about how God heals. We often pray differently for a headache than we do for leukemia, as if one is small and the other is too big for God. But nothing is harder or easier for the Lord. He is not limited by categories of illness. What is impossible for us is not more difficult for Him. At the same time, Scripture shows that good people still suffer sickness and that illness is not always a direct result of personal sin or a lack of faith. Jesus made clear that sickness can be an occasion for the works of God to be displayed, and He remains the light and hope while we have opportunity to trust Him.
The Bible also shows that Jesus healed in many different ways. Sometimes with a word, sometimes with touch, sometimes after a process, and sometimes gradually. Only one gradual healing is recorded in detail, which reminds us that He is not confined to a single pattern. Much about healing remains mysterious to us. We do not fully understand why some are healed quickly, some gradually, and some not in the way we hope. It is wrong to tell someone they were not healed because they have hidden sin or did not have enough faith. Even the apostle Paul prayed three times for his own affliction and the Lord chose not to remove it, showing that God does not will physical healing in every case in the way we ask.
All true healing is from God. That includes an instant touch and also the slow, ordered processes He has built into our bodies and the wisdom He gives to doctors. Medical treatment itself can be a means God uses, and it is no less divine because it works through natural processes that He created. Matthew connects the healing ministry of Jesus to the prophecy in Isaiah that He bore our infirmities and sicknesses, and when Jesus broke bread He gave His body for us. That points to both spiritual and physical redemption, yet we hold it with humility, trusting His sovereign will and goodness even when we do not see the answer we desire.
So I am praying for this man by name before the Lord, asking for mercy, for peace that guards the heart, and for healing according to the Father's wise and loving will. I am asking God to give clarity to the oncologist and hematologist, to guide their interpretation of the results and their plans for treatment, and to give both of you comfort and strength in the days ahead. I am also praying that each of you will draw near to Jesus Christ, for salvation is through Him alone, and that you will seek to walk in His ways in every area of life, including His good design for relationships where marriage is the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman and where sexual intimacy and living together belong within that covenant. May the Lord lead you both into deeper faith, repentance where needed, and full trust in His grace.
Father, in the name of Jesus, I lift up this man who is battling leukemia. You know his body, his history, and every test result. Lay Your healing hand upon him, whether through a direct touch or through the gradual work of treatment and recovery that You have ordained. Give wisdom and discernment to his doctors as they read the results and consider next steps. Grant peace to him and to the one who cares for him, and draw each of them closer to Your Son, that they may know Your forgiveness, Your presence, and Your will. We trust You with the outcome and ask for Your mercy and grace. Amen.
