Hebrews 11:1 "Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see"
I think we are all aware of this verse, as we wait for our marriages to be restored we put everything we can possibly think of in our minds to give us hope. And yes the enemy tries to lay the spiritual smack down on our thoughts in hopes we will go down for the count and give up. Yes this is a battle of wits between your knowledge of the word and Satan's knowledge of you. Yes he does know many things about you, how else would he know what to say to make you feel discouraged. However he also knows he is beaten if you keep true to Gods promise, the only way he can win is if you actually give up. Well he will try to get you to give up by making you look at what is happening in front of you instead of what is going on the other side of the mountain.
There are so many stories in Gods word that proves that even when things look dark, if you trust in HIM and worship HIM with all your heart HE will protect you and return to you what was taken and then some. Look at the story of Job. He lost everything but never lost his love for GOD and GOD was faithful to him and returned everything that was taken and seven times more. I don't know about you but that sounds pretty good to me, except I don't really want 7 wives I had hard enough time with one, so I hope that isn't taken literally. The story of Job is a good book to read and study about trusting in God, however this post isn't about that story. (Yeah I know its just another trick to get you to read and meditate on Gods word, but that's not a bad thing). So when you get time go read the book of Job, but wait tell after you read this post because that would be just rude to leave in mid post and hurt my feelings.
Psalms 18:31 "I called to the LORD, who is worthy of praise, and I have been saved from my enemies."
Romans 10:13 "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the LORD shall be saved"
Those verses are pretty specific in what happens if you call upon the lord, HE will save us. YAY that is exactly what I would like to happen right now as I sit here trying not to think about my wife and what she is doing, but how hard is it to trust HIM when things look dark in every aspect? It is very hard. We as humans are creatures of sight, we tend to follow the I will believe when I see it mentality of life, however that is very unbiblical of us. We have to trust HIM in this battle which we tend to think is our battle, but this isn't our battle is it? No it is Gods.
I am going to take you to the Old Testament for this post a very good and uplifting chapter that actually fits the title of this post (YAY I am getting to the point). 2 Chronicles 20 to be exact, Jehoshaphat and the massive armies against Judah. 2 Chronicles 20:1 "After this, the Moabites and Ammonites with some of the Meunites came to make war on Jehoshaphat" Now Jehoshaphat was a good ruler and trusted God and lead his people according to Gods word. He was faithful to God and even went out and turned cities who fell away from God back to follow HIM. So needless to say he had the Lords favor. When he heard that 3 vast armies where coming to make war against his land he immediately turned to God for help and advise. 2 Chronicles 20: 5-12 "Then Jehoshaphat stood up in the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem at the temple of the Lord in the front of the new courtyard and said: “Lord, the God of our ancestors, are you not the God who is in heaven? You rule over all the kingdoms of the nations. Power and might are in your hand, and no one can withstand you. Our God, did you not drive out the inhabitants of this land before your people Israel and give it forever to the descendants of Abraham your friend? They have lived in it and have built in it a sanctuary for your Name, saying, 'If calamity comes upon us, whether the sword of judgment, or plague or famine, we will stand in your presence before this temple that bears your Name and will cry out to you in our distress, and you will hear us and save us.’ “But now here are men from Ammon, Moab and Mount Seir, whose territory you would not allow Israel to invade when they came from Egypt; so they turned away from them and did not destroy them. See how they are repaying us by coming to drive us out of the possession you gave us as an inheritance. Our God, will you not judge them? For we have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.â€
Pretty specific prayer if you ask me. As all the people of Judah awaited an answer the LORD spoke threw Jahaziel. 2 Chronicles 20: 15-17 "He said: “Listen, King Jehoshaphat and all who live in Judah and Jerusalem! This is what the Lord says to you: ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s. Tomorrow march down against them. They will be climbing up by the Pass of Ziz, and you will find them at the end of the gorge in the Desert of Jeruel. You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you, Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the Lord will be with you.’†So Jehoshaphat started praising the LORD singing songs with all the people, and the next day he readied the army. As they marched he appointed men to sing praises to God in front of his army. They all knew they where out numbered and if God wasn't with them they would not win, however they trusted in God singing "Give thanks to the Lord, for His love endures forever".
As they sang praises and marched to where God told them to go, God set up ambushes 2 Chronicles 20: 22-23 "As they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushes against the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir who were invading Judah, and they were defeated. The Ammonites and Moabites rose up against the men from Mount Seir to destroy and annihilate them. After they finished slaughtering the men from Seir, they helped to destroy one another.
When Jehoshaphat arrived with his army all they saw was a vast amount of dead bodies slain by one another. They rejoiced as God did as he promised, when they got closer to the dead they saw treasures upon treasures so many in fact that it took his army 3 days to collect it all. With this the fear of God went across the nations and their enemies lived in fear knowing that the God of Israel was real.
Now we are no different that Jehoshaphat with our trial. God has told us to trust Him and stand fast, worship Him and put Him first in every part of our life. He is on the other side of the mountain speaking to our wives giving her peace and hope of returning. She wont admit it but I know that is what is going on and eventually she has to hear Gods word and surrender to Him, and when she does we will gather the treasures of Love for not just three days but for the rest of our lives. Trust God pray continually and do what He is asking of you. He has a plan on the other side of the mountain that we cant see, but He is there setting road blocks for this is His battle
Thank you and God bless
