A Glorious Rest
True rest is found only beyond this world, so let go of earthly pursuits and seek the eternal peace promised.
Behind the Counter
Hard work and integrity in your daily tasks bring honor now and eternal reward later.
A Hard Life
God sees the struggles of every worker and calls us to stand with them in justice and compassion.
We hear your heart and we join with you in bringing this long and heavy burden before our Father. For nearly twenty four years you have carried this struggle, and we know how wearying it is to feel unseen by a system, especially while living with such deep health afflictions from your thyroid, your brain, your back and legs and arms, and now facing homelessness and staying in your sister's home. We thank God with you for providing a good lawyer and for the special rule that restored your work credits and allowed your case to be reopened, and we thank Him for your sister's kindness in giving you a place to stay. We also thank Him that you know He is in control and that you have come to Him in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is in His name alone that we are saved. Acts 4:12, John 14:6.

We understand the frustration of having your case date shown as seven years wrong and being treated as a new case when you had sought help before. We pray for justice and truth to prevail, and we trust that God sees every detail and every delay. Even when bureaucracy feels overwhelming, we remember that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1. He is near to those who are brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:18. He promises to supply every need of ours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19. And when our minds are tired and we cannot even find words, we take comfort that the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Romans 8:26.

We also hear you when you say your time is running out and your brain is tired and forgot what else you wanted to say. Our Father is not bound by time and He has not forgotten you. He says do not be anxious, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God, and the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7. He says do not fear, for I am with you, do not be dismayed, for I am your God, I will strengthen you, yes I will help you, yes I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10. He says come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28. He also promises I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh. Jeremiah 30:17.

We pray together for you now.

Father, we lift up our dear brother before Your throne of grace in the name of Jesus. You know his long journey, the fifteen years in that thyroid crash state feeling like a mindless zombie, the injuries from brain to legs and arms and back, the homelessness and weariness, and the confusion with the SSA and the date that is seven years wrong. We thank You that You are sovereign and that You see every record, every phone call, every reopened case and every restored credit. We ask that You give wisdom and clarity to his lawyer and that You move upon the hearts of those handling his case at SSA to act with honesty, diligence and fairness, and to honor the correct original date according to the special rule that applies to him. We ask that You provide for his daily needs, for stable housing, for health care and for strength to keep going, and that You bless his sister for her hospitality. Touch his body, Lord, bring healing to his thyroid condition, restore his brain and memory, ease the pain in his back, arms and legs, and give him rest when his mind is tired and words fail. Let Your peace guard his heart when he feels his time is running out, and remind him that Your timing is perfect and that You will never leave him nor forsake him. Deuteronomy 31:6. We ask that Your will be done in this case and in his life, and that he will feel Your presence and provision each day. We pray all these things together in the precious name of Jesus, amen.

We encourage you to keep resting in Him, to keep careful records and stay in close contact with your lawyer, and to lean on Him day by day. We are seeking His will together with you and we will continue to hold you in prayer, trusting that He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it and that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28.

We were moved reading your prayer. Twenty four years of trying, fifteen of those feeling like your mind was in low power mode after your thyroid was removed, and now facing a seven year date error with SSA while you are without stable housing and without health to work, that is an overwhelming load to carry. It makes sense your brain feels tired and that details slip away.

We are thankful you have a good lawyer now and that your work credits were restored through that special rule. That is a meaningful step forward after so much waiting. We continue to pray for clarity and steadiness as you and your lawyer work through whether your original filing date will be honored.

A couple of small things that may help in this season: keep a simple folder or binder with copies of every SSA letter, dates you called, and medical records, and bring it to every meeting with your lawyer. Writing down your main questions beforehand can help when you feel foggy or tired. And because you mentioned injuries from head to legs and ongoing difficulty working, please stay connected to a doctor or clinic for care alongside prayer, and let your sister or lawyer know how you are doing day to day so you are not carrying this alone.

Father, we lift our brother to You. You see his long wait, his body's pain, his need for home and health and provision. Give him rest, clear guidance for the next steps with SSA, wisdom for his lawyer, and daily strength. Lead him to helpful support nearby and remind him he is not forgotten. In Jesus' name, amen.

Lord Jesus please richly bless, protect and guide them. Please help them in accordance with your perfect will Father. Thank you and praise you. In your holy name I pray. Amen.

Your cry has come before the Lord, and He is a God who waits to be gracious. Though you have walked through nearly twenty four years of sore trial, and fifteen years as one whose mind was held in low power, as a weary and wounded frame from brain to legs, from arms to back, without health to labor and without a home to call your own save your sister's roof, yet the Lord has not forgotten you. He who sits at the helm of Providence can pilot the vessel when it is almost upon the rocks, and He hears the sigh that you scarce have words to utter.

We are taught in Scripture that the Lord waits to be gracious, and that His waiting has a purpose. His patience is not in vain toward His chosen. When all else has broken down, we are brought back to salvation through Jesus Christ alone, and there we find Him lovingly waiting, ready to pardon, ready to bless. Your long waiting, your forgetting, your weariness of brain, these are known to Him who formed you and who numbers your days.

Therefore take to heart the word, My soul, wait thou only upon God. Rest calm and undisturbed before Him. They that wait upon the Lord shall not want any good thing. To wait only upon God is to hang your faith upon nothing but His promise, and to find that His right hand alone upholds you when every other support gives way. You have sought help through lawful means, through a good lawyer and through the rule that restores what was lost, and it is right to use such means. Yet let your ultimate confidence be not in papers or dates or offices, but in the living God. He is the God of our salvation, and whether on the hills or in the valleys, whether upon firm land or upon the unstable sea where the boat ever rocks, He remains our confidence.

The Psalmist says, Wait on the Lord, be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart, wait, I say, on the Lord. Waiting upon God sustains courage and renews strength, so that you shall mount up with eagles wings though now you feel you cannot stand. There is a mysterious strength that comes by the incoming of His Spirit into the soul of the faint. Go to your God, poor soul, when you are out of order, and He will strengthen your heart. He sees you in all the good and ill that checker life, He heard you when you declared your ways before Him, and that sweet word, Thou heardest me, is true for you also. What condescension that the great God should hear such a broken prayer.

Humble yourself therefore under the mighty hand of God, casting all your care upon Him, for He careth for you. He knows your homelessness, your poverty, your pain, and the confusion over the date that is now called seven years wrong. Ask Him to give wisdom to those who judge your case, to give clarity and justice, and to provide for your daily bread. Ask Him also to keep you, to give you a quiet mind to meditate upon His statutes, even when the powder of this weary world would spoil that meditation.

Let us pray for you. O Lord our God, Thou God of our salvation, look upon this Thy servant who is afflicted and alone, whose body is injured and whose mind is wearied. Thou hast seen the long years of waiting, the years of darkness when the mind was as a low flame, and the years of seeking help that seemed denied. Thou waitest to be gracious, grant grace now. Strengthen the heart that waits upon Thee, renew its courage, and let Thy mysterious power sustain it. Provide shelter and daily bread, guide the hands that handle this claim, and bring forth justice according to Thy will. Above all, keep this soul resting only upon Christ, for there is no other name under heaven whereby we must be saved, and in Him alone is our hope. Let Thy will be done, and let Thy child know that Thou hast heard. In the name of Jesus Christ our only Redeemer we ask it, Amen.
