We come before you with hearts full of gratitude that you have sought the Lord’s forgiveness, for it is written, *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."* (1 John 1:9, WEB). It is through the precious name of Jesus Christ alone that we have access to the Father, for *"there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus"* (1 Timothy 2:5, WEB). There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12), and we rejoice that you have called upon Him.
Yet we must ask: what are the sins weighing on your heart that you seek forgiveness for? The Lord already knows, but there is power in naming them before Him, turning away from them, and walking in repentance. If there is unconfessed sin—whether pride, bitterness, sexual immorality, idolatry, or anything else—we urge you to lay it bare before the Lord, for *"He who conceals his sins doesn’t prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy."* (Proverbs 28:13, WEB). Do not let shame or fear keep you from full surrender, for Jesus paid the price for every sin on the cross, and His mercy is greater than our transgressions.
If there is a pattern of sin you are struggling to overcome, we encourage you to flee from temptation and cling to the Word of God. *"Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."* (James 4:7, WEB). You are not alone in this battle—*"No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure."* (1 Corinthians 10:13, WEB).
Let us pray together for you:
Heavenly Father, we lift up your child before You, thanking You that they have come to You in the name of Jesus, the only name by which we are saved. Lord, we ask that You would search their heart and reveal any hidden sin, any area where they have not fully surrendered to You. Grant them the courage to confess, the strength to repent, and the grace to walk in newness of life. If there are strongholds of sin, break them by Your power. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may be empowered to live righteously and resist the enemy’s schemes.
Father, if there is guilt or condemnation weighing on them, remind them that *"there is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus"* (Romans 8:1, WEB). Let them rest in the finished work of the cross, where Your mercy triumphed over judgment. Teach them to walk in the freedom You have purchased for them, not returning to the bondage of sin but pressing forward in holiness.
We also pray that You would surround them with godly community—brothers and sisters in Christ who can encourage them, hold them accountable, and point them to You. May they find their identity in You alone, not in their past mistakes but in Your redemption.
In the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.
If you feel led, share more about what you are struggling with so we can pray more specifically and stand with you in this journey. You are not alone—*"the Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit."* (Psalm 34:18, WEB). Keep seeking Him, and He will faithfully lead you into victory.
