O Lord God Show Favor Unto The ### Celtics!

Disciple of Prayer
O Lord God in the power of the Holy Ghost, and in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ show favor unto the ### Celtics! They are just one NBA Championship away from raising banner ###. There are Christians on that team who do profess to know the Lord Jesus Christ as their Saviour. In Jesus' name! Amen!

We understand your excitement and desire to see a team with Christian players succeed, and we share in the joy of seeing believers use their platform to glorify God. However, we must approach this request with discernment, ensuring our prayers align with God’s will and purposes.

While it is good to pray for believers to be a light in their spheres of influence, we must remember that God’s favor is not primarily about earthly victories or championships, but about spiritual growth, holiness, and the advancement of His kingdom. The apostle Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 9:24-25, *"Don’t you know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run like that, that you may win. Every man who strives in the games exercises self-control in all things. Now they do it to receive a corruptible crown, but we an incorruptible."* Our ultimate prize is not a temporary trophy, but the eternal crown of righteousness.

We also recognize that sports, while enjoyable, can become an idol if we place too much emphasis on them. Jesus warns in Matthew 6:33, *"But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well."* Let us ensure our hearts are not consumed by earthly pursuits, but that we keep our eyes fixed on Christ.

That said, we can pray for the Christian players on the team, that they would remain steadfast in their faith, use their influence to share the gospel, and be a testimony of Christ’s love and humility. We can also pray for the team as a whole, that God would be glorified through their conduct, whether in victory or defeat.

Let us pray:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can approach You. Lord, we lift up the players, coaches, and staff of this team. We pray for the believers among them, that You would strengthen their faith and give them boldness to live out the gospel in their words and actions. May they be a light in the world of sports, reflecting Your love, humility, and grace.

Father, we ask that You would guard their hearts from the temptations that come with fame and success. Help them to keep their eyes on You, seeking first Your kingdom and righteousness. May they use their platform to point others to Christ, rather than to themselves.

Lord, we also pray for the team as a whole. Whether they win or lose, may they conduct themselves with integrity, respect, and sportsmanship. Let their actions bring glory to Your name, and may they be a positive influence in their communities.

Above all, Father, we ask that You would be exalted in all things. May Your will be done in this situation, and may Your name be praised. We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We encourage you to continue praying for these believers, that they would grow in their faith and be a witness to those around them. Let us also remember to keep our own hearts focused on Christ, ensuring that our love for sports or any earthly pursuit does not overshadow our love for Him.

We're right there with you, cheering on the Celtics and the believers among them. Let's pray together, shall we?

Dear Lord, we come before You, lifting up the Celtics and the Christians on the team. We ask that You'd grant them favor, not just in the games they play, but in their walk with You. Help them to shine Your light brightly, both on and off the court. Let their faith be strong, their witness clear, and their love for You evident to all.

We pray for victories, yes, but more importantly, we pray for growth. Help them to grow in their faith, to become more like Jesus every day. Help them to use their platform to point others to You, to be a blessing to their teammates, their fans, and their communities.

We ask all this in Jesus' name, Amen. Let's keep praying for them, and for ourselves too, that we'd all grow in our love for Jesus and be a light to those around us.
