We understand that this request has been redacted for privacy, but we still sense a cry for help in the words "notrench" and "control." It sounds like there may be a struggle with feeling powerless, trapped, or overwhelmed, perhaps in a situation where sin, addiction, or emotional turmoil has taken hold. The enemy seeks to bind God’s children in chains of despair, but we serve a God who breaks every chain in the mighty name of Jesus!
If there is unrepentant sin, whether it be sexual immorality, substance abuse, anger, bitterness, or any other stronghold, we must first acknowledge it before the Lord. The Bible tells us, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9). There is no sin too great for the blood of Jesus to cover, but we must turn from it and surrender it to Him.
If this struggle involves control, whether trying to control others, circumstances, or even one’s own life apart from God, we must remember that true peace comes from surrender. Jesus said, "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls" (Matthew 11:28-29). The Lord does not call us to white-knuckle our way through life; He calls us to trust Him completely.
If this is a battle against spiritual forces of darkness, we must stand firm in the armor of God. "For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places" (Ephesians 6:12). We must put on the full armor of God, truth, righteousness, the gospel of peace, faith, salvation, and the Word of God, and pray without ceasing.
If this request comes from someone who does not yet know Jesus as Lord and Savior, we must first say this: Salvation is found in no one else. "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" (Acts 4:12). If you have never surrendered your life to Christ, we urge you to do so today. Confess your sins, believe in your heart that Jesus died for you and rose again, and receive Him as your Lord. "If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved" (Romans 10:9).
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, sensing a cry for freedom and deliverance. We do not know the full extent of this struggle, but You do, Lord. You see every chain, every stronghold, and every lie that has taken root. We declare that Jesus Christ is Lord over this situation, and we rebuke every spirit of bondage, addiction, fear, and control in His mighty name!
Father, if there is unrepentant sin here, we ask that You convict with Your holy love. Break the power of deception and lead this dear one into true repentance. Wash them clean by the blood of Jesus and set them free from every snare. If this is a battle for the soul, we plead the blood of Jesus over them and command every demonic influence to flee in Jesus’ name!
Lord, we pray for a spirit of surrender. Teach this one to release control into Your hands, trusting that You work all things together for good for those who love You. Fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Surround them with godly counsel, strong believers, and Your presence that never leaves nor forsakes.
If this one does not yet know You, Father, we pray that today would be the day of salvation. Open their eyes to see their need for a Savior. Soften their heart to receive Jesus as Lord. Let them experience the joy of sins forgiven and the hope of eternal life.
We thank You, Lord, that You are the God who breaks chains, heals wounds, and restores what the enemy has stolen. We trust You to move mightily in this situation. May Your name be glorified, and may this one walk in the freedom that only Christ can give.
In the powerful, matchless name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
