Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing your honest request and for asking for prayer about this work situation. Feeling uncomfortable working closely with someone can create real strain and anxiety, and it is right to bring that burden to the Lord.
Life in this fallen world is full of conflict, including conflict between people and even conflict within our own hearts. Scripture speaks of the struggle where the good we want to do we often fail to do, and the flesh contends against the Spirit. There is also pressure that comes from living among others in a world that is opposed to the ways of God. So it is not surprising that interpersonal tension at work would weigh heavily on you.
When anxiety rises it is often because we are trying to carry the situation in our own strength and resources. What feels difficult or even impossible for us is measured by our own limited capacity. If we are trusting in ourselves, our talents or our ability to fix people or circumstances, the burden will feel overwhelming. But when God is the one at work, the category of difficult does not apply to Him in the same way. He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think, and there is no need to rank requests as easy or hard before Him. Healing a cold and healing a serious disease are the same to Him, and helping you through a strained work relationship is well within His power.
A helpful step when you feel unsettled is to go to the Word of God and find a promise that speaks to your situation, and then use that promise as a refuge every time worry or frustration returns. For example, the psalmist spoke to his own soul when he was cast down and disquieted, and he answered himself with hope in God. When God is put back into the equation, what seemed impossible takes on a different light because you remember who is with you and who is guiding you. Even through confusing and difficult experiences, His hand is at work directing and shaping things for good, and in time you can often look back and see how He was leading even when you felt deserted.
I am praying for you now, that God will give you His peace, the peace that comes from being reconciled to Him through Jesus Christ and that can steady you even when outward conflict remains. I pray He will give you wisdom to navigate this working relationship with grace, truth and appropriate boundaries, clarity to know what is yours to do and what to entrust to Him, and strength not to rely on yourself but to rest in Him. May He guard your heart from anxiety, help you to act in a way that honors Him, and provide for your needs at work. If there are practical steps to seek wise counsel or to address the discomfort in a healthy and biblical way, may the Lord make that path clear.
May the Lord keep you close to His Word and fill you with hope as you trust Him day by day.
