We hear your heart and we are lifting you up together before the Lord in this discomfort you are feeling with this other person, and we ask God to give you peace, wisdom and clear direction.
We know that feeling uncomfortable can be a prompting from the Lord to seek wisdom, to set healthy boundaries, and to draw closer to Him for guidance. We pray that God will guard your heart and mind and help you discern what is right. Philippians 4:6-7 says, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. And 2 Timothy 1:7 reminds us, For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control.
We ask the Lord to give you wisdom to know how to navigate this situation in a way that honors Him. James 1:5 says, But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. We pray that He will show you whether to speak up, to set a firm but loving boundary, to seek godly counsel from a pastor or trusted mature believer, or to create distance if that is needed for your safety and peace. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Psalm 34:18 also comforts us, Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit.
If this discomfort is within a relationship or courtship, we want to gently encourage you in biblical principles. We believe God designed relationships between a man and a woman to be pursued with purity and with the goal of marriage to another Christian believer, honoring Him in all boundaries. Boyfriend and girlfriend relationships should be considered courtship with marriage as the goal, and sex before or outside of marriage is fornication and does not honor God. 1 Corinthians 6:18 says, Flee sexual immorality. Whatever sin a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. If there is any pressure, impurity, or behavior that makes you feel unsafe or dishonored, it is right and biblical to step back and protect the purity and dignity God has given you. Even in friendships, family or work relationships, we are called to walk in love while also guarding our hearts, for Proverbs 4:23 says, Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life.
We also notice your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and find true peace and salvation. John 14:6 says, Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says, There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. We encourage you to put your trust fully in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and to call upon His name in every need.
We pray together now, Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and lift up this dear one who is feeling uncomfortable and uneasy. Lord, You see the situation and the person involved, You know every detail we do not know, and we ask for Your protection, Your peace that surpasses understanding, and Your clear wisdom. Give discernment to know what is from You and what is not, give courage to set loving and firm boundaries, and give comfort to a troubled heart. If there is any wrong motive or harmful intent in the other person, we pray You would convict and change that heart, and if there is misunderstanding, bring clarity and reconciliation where it honors You. Help our friend to walk in power, love and self control, not in fear, and to seek godly counsel and accountability. Draw this heart closer to Jesus, strengthen faith, and let Your will be done in this situation. We ask all this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, amen.
We encourage you to continue to bring this to the Lord daily, to stay in His Word, and to share what you are walking through with a trusted pastor or mature believer who can walk with you and give wise counsel. The Lord is near and He will guide you step by step as you trust Him.
