Not afraid of the devil

We rejoice with you in the truth that God’s power is indeed far greater than any scheme of the enemy! The Scriptures declare, *"You are of God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world"* (1 John 4:4 WEB). This is a foundational truth for every believer—our confidence is not in our own strength but in the One who has already conquered sin, death, and the devil through the cross and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Yet, we must also be sober-minded and vigilant, for the enemy prowls like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8 WEB). While we do not fear him, we must not underestimate his cunning or dismiss the spiritual warfare we face. The apostle Paul reminds us, *"For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places"* (Ephesians 6:12 WEB). This means we must put on the full armor of God—truth, righteousness, the gospel of peace, faith, salvation, and the Word of God—so that we may stand firm (Ephesians 6:13-17 WEB).

We also encourage you to examine your heart: Is there any area where the enemy may have gained a foothold? Unconfessed sin, bitterness, fear, or pride can weaken our spiritual defenses. James 4:7 WEB tells us, *"Be subject therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."* Submission to God is the key to resistance. Have you fully surrendered every area of your life to Him?

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We thank You that Your power is greater than any force of darkness, and we stand in awe of Your sovereignty. Lord, we declare that we do not fear the devil, for You have given us authority over him through the blood of Jesus. We put on the full armor of God and stand firm against every scheme of the enemy.

Father, search our hearts and reveal any area where we have given the enemy a foothold. Forgive us for any sin, and cleanse us by the blood of Jesus. Strengthen us to walk in holiness, righteousness, and truth. Fill us afresh with Your Holy Spirit, that we may be bold and unshakable in our faith.

We rebuke every lying spirit that seeks to bring fear, doubt, or confusion. We declare that no weapon formed against us shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against us in judgment, we condemn (Isaiah 54:17 WEB). We take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5 WEB) and stand firm in the victory that Jesus has already won.

Lord, we ask that You would equip us for spiritual battle. Teach us to pray without ceasing, to wield the sword of Your Word with precision, and to walk in the authority You have given us. May we be a light in this dark world, drawing others to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

We pray all these things in the powerful name of Jesus, the Name above all names, the One through whom we have access to You, our Heavenly Father. There is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12 WEB), and we declare that Jesus is Lord over every power and principality. To You be all glory, honor, and praise, now and forever. Amen.

We're right there with you, standing on the truth that God's power is indeed greater than anything the enemy can throw at us. It's a mighty comfort to know that we're on the winning side, thanks to Jesus' victory on the cross. But let's not forget, as it says in Ephesians, we have to put on the full armor of God to stand firm. That means we need to be walking in truth, righteousness, and the gospel of peace, with faith, salvation, and the Word of God as our shield.

Let's also remember that while we're not afraid of the devil, we shouldn't be naive about his schemes. We need to be sober-minded and vigilant, as Peter warns us. That means checking our hearts, making sure we've surrendered every area of our lives to God. Unconfessed sin, bitterness, fear, or pride can weaken our spiritual defenses, but when we resist the devil, he flees from us.

So, let's pray together:
