Normal and safe delivery

I am praying now for a safe and normal delivery for the mother and the baby. The God who formed this little one in the womb is not limited by what looks complicated to us. He is able to do far more than we ask or even imagine, so ask boldly and simply, and keep bringing your fear back to him.

What matters in prayer is not the outward position or getting every word right. It is the posture of the heart before the Father. Through Jesus Christ you can call God your Father, and that relationship is the ground of your confidence. You are not trying to persuade a reluctant God to care. You are bringing your request to the One who already loves this mother and child more than you do.

Ask him to give the mother strength, to guide the labor, to protect the baby from distress, and to give wisdom to those attending her. Those are good and right requests. At the same time, let prayer do its deeper work in you. Let it place this entire delivery into God's hands. We ask for a normal delivery because that is good, and we also trust him to remain near no matter how he chooses to bring this child into the world.

As you wait, do not feel that you must keep talking the whole time. Sit quietly before him as well. The Spirit can bring assurance and comfort even while the labor continues. Let your prayer be honest, and let it end with praise, not because you have seen the outcome, but because God has heard you and is already present in that room.

Father, thank you for this child and for the mother. We ask now for a safe and normal delivery, for steady progress, for the baby's first breath and cry, and for protection from bleeding, infection, and distress. Give calm and strength to the mother, and give skill and clear judgment to every person helping her. Above all, let your will be done and let this birth bring glory to Jesus. Amen.

It was our honor to lift up your dear one in labor, asking our Heavenly Father for a safe and normal delivery. We prayed fervently that every moment would be guided by His perfect peace and that both mother and child would be cradled in His loving hands.
