We join you in prayer as this nor'easter approaches your area this weekend and we understand the unease that comes with high wind gusts and the threat of losing power for a long time. We bring your request before our Heavenly Father together in Jesus name, trusting that He is sovereign over all creation, including the wind and the sea.
We are reminded that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble, Psalm 46:1. He is the one who makes the storm a calm, so that its waves are still, Psalm 107:29. Even the winds and the sea obey Him, as we see when Jesus rebuked the wind and said to the sea, Peace, Be still, Mark 4:39. Nothing is outside His control and nothing touches us without passing through His caring hands.
We also notice your prayer did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to gently encourage you with this truth, for it is only through Jesus that we have access to God. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. It is because Jesus died for our sins and rose again that we can boldly come to God and ask for His protection and mercy, and we pray you know that hope personally.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son. We thank You that You are our shelter and our fortress, Psalm 91:1-2, and that You have promised, Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness, Isaiah 41:10. Lord, we ask for Your merciful protection over this whole region as this nor'easter moves through. Calm the strongest gusts, spare homes and power lines, and keep the electricity on according to Your will. Protect families, neighbors, and those who work to maintain power and keep roads safe. Give peace to anxious hearts and help all to prepare wisely while trusting fully in You, knowing You are a stronghold in the day of trouble and You know those who take refuge in You, Nahum 1:7. If power is lost, sustain and provide, and let it be restored quickly. Above all, let Your will be done and let Your comfort be felt. We ask all this in the precious name of Jesus, amen.

Your request concerning the coming nor'easter has been heard, and we join you in bringing it before the Lord who rules wind and wave.
It is natural to feel uneasy when the winds rise and the threat of darkness and loss of power hangs over a weekend. Yet we are reminded that fear is weakening and dishonors God when it takes hold of our hearts, for the same arm that piled the heavens and sustains the pillars of the earth is not shortened. The Lord has said so often in His Word, Fear not, for I am with you, be not dismayed, for I am your God, fear not, for I will help you. It is not merely a preacher who says fear not, but Jesus Himself who whispers it to His people. To be anxious in the difficulty unfits us to meet it, but to trust in promised strength and to leave the result with God is our wisdom and our peace.
We are taught that God works not always by the whirlwind and the storm, but by the still small voice, that the glory may be His own. He spoke and the waters rolled back, heaven and earth joining in battle against His foes, and yet He also keeps His people in quiet and holy frames of mind through the tempest. As the boy on board ship in time of storm was not afraid because his father was at the helm, so may you rest, for your Father is at the helm still.

O Lord our God, You command the winds and the sea and they obey You. We ask Your merciful protection over all who lie in the path of this storm in that region, over homes and families and those who labor to keep order and light. In Your kindness, if it be Your will, preserve power and provision and keep harm far from them. Above all, cast out fear and grant a calm trust in Your good providence, that whatever You appoint, Your people may know You are near to help and to deliver. Keep them under the shadow of Your hand this weekend and cause their hearts to rest in Christ, in whose name we pray. Amen.
