Humble Servant
My family and I had a meeting with someone about the nonprofit we created in honor of my sister who went through many things in her life and then passed away last July. We had the meeting with this person just to tell them about what our nonprofit is about - we didn't want anything from them or the nonprofit that they work for. They promised to spread the word about our nonprofit especially on social media but now we haven't heard back from them. If we never hear back from them, I don't care. But my parents and I (especially my mom) were very, very vulnerable with this person about what the nonprofit means to us and I will feel very hurt if they just ghosted us. I will also worry for the impact this might have on my mom. I wonder about how genuine and kind this person actually is.

We understand the deep emotional investment you and your family have poured into this nonprofit in honor of your sister, and we grieve with you over her loss. It is a beautiful thing to seek to turn pain into purpose, and we commend your family’s desire to honor her memory in a way that serves others. The vulnerability you shared with this person was an act of trust, and it is completely natural to feel hurt when that trust appears to be unmet. Your concern for your mother’s heart in this is especially tender, and we lift her before the Lord, asking Him to guard her emotions and bring her peace that surpasses understanding.

The Scriptures remind us in Proverbs 3:5-6, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* It can be difficult when our expectations of others are not met, but we must remember that our ultimate trust is not in people—even those who seem well-intentioned—but in the Lord. He sees the sincerity of your family’s heart and the love behind this work. He is not unaware of the vulnerability you showed, nor will He allow it to be in vain.

We also recall the words of Jesus in Matthew 5:43-45, *"You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you, that you may be children of your Father who is in heaven."* While this person may not have acted with the kindness you hoped for, we must guard our hearts against bitterness or cynicism. Instead, we can pray for them, that God would work in their life, whether they follow through or not. Their actions—or lack thereof—do not define the worth of your sister’s legacy or the impact your nonprofit will have.

At the same time, we must also remember that people are fallible. James 4:14 tells us, *"Whereas you don’t know what your life will be like tomorrow. For what is your life? For you are a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away."* This person may have had every intention of helping but became distracted by life’s demands. Or perhaps their words were emptier than they seemed. Either way, their response does not change God’s call on your family’s mission. Your focus must remain on stewarding this nonprofit with integrity, love, and excellence, trusting that God will open the right doors in His timing.

Let us pray together for you, your family, and this situation:

Heavenly Father, we lift this family before You, asking that You would wrap them in Your comfort and peace. Lord, You know the depth of their love for their sister and the pain of her absence. You see the vulnerability they showed in sharing their hearts, and we ask that You would protect them from discouragement or hurt. Father, if this person has forgotten or neglected their promise, we pray that You would stir their heart to act with integrity. But even if they do not, we ask that You would bring the right connections, the right supporters, and the right opportunities to amplify the work of this nonprofit for Your glory.

Lord, we especially lift this mother’s heart to You. Guard her emotions, Lord, and remind her that her worth and her daughter’s legacy are not dependent on the actions of others. Fill her with Your peace and reassurance. Give this family wisdom as they move forward, discerning how to share their story with others while also protecting their hearts. May they find their strength and validation in You alone.

We rebuke any spirit of disappointment, bitterness, or distrust that may try to take root in their hearts. Instead, fill them with Your love, Your hope, and Your vision for how this nonprofit can honor You and serve others. Remind them that You are their Provider, their Advocate, and their Comforter.

Finally, Lord, we pray that this nonprofit would be a beacon of Your love and grace, pointing others to the hope found only in Jesus Christ. May every step they take be ordered by You, and may Your name be glorified through their obedience.

In the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to keep moving forward in faith. If this person does not follow through, it does not mean your efforts are in vain. God has a plan, and He will bring the right people alongside you at the right time. Stay open to His leading, and continue to seek His wisdom in how to share your story and your mission. And remember, the impact of your sister’s life—and the love behind this nonprofit—is not measured by social media shares or human approval, but by the faithfulness with which you honor God in all you do. Keep your eyes on Him, and trust that He will guide your steps.

We're right there with you, feeling the mix of disappointment and concern. It's tough when we open our hearts to others and it feels like they haven't followed through. But remember, God sees your sincerity and the love behind your family's work. He's not unaware of the vulnerability you've shown, and He won't let it be in vain.

Let's keep praying for your mom, that she'd find comfort and peace in God's embrace. And let's also pray for that person, that if they've forgotten their promise, God would stir their heart to act with integrity. But even if they don't, God will bring the right connections, supporters, and opportunities to amplify your nonprofit's work for His glory.

Keep moving forward, trusting that God has a plan. The impact of your sister's life and the love behind this nonprofit isn't measured by social media shares or human approval, but by your faithfulness to honor God in all you do. Keep your eyes on Him, and trust that He will guide your steps.

I prayed that God in Jesus' name will answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. Thank You Jesus!!!
