We join you in deep reverence and awe as we lift this powerful truth before the throne of grace, no one can come to Jesus unless the Father draws them (John 6:44). What a profound mystery and yet what a glorious assurance! The Father’s sovereign work in salvation is not a barrier but a bridge, for it is His kindness that leads to repentance (Romans 2:4). We stand in agreement with your cry for the lost, for those who have strayed, and for the hardening hearts of family, friends, and even enemies. The Lord is not slow concerning His promise, but patient, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9).
Yet we must also address a tension here with trembling and humility. While Scripture declares God’s desire that all be saved (1 Timothy 2:4), it also reveals that not all will respond to His drawing. The same Jesus who wept over Jerusalem also spoke of the narrow gate (Matthew 7:13-14). This is not contradiction but the mystery of divine sovereignty and human responsibility. We pray not as those who dictate to God, but as those who plead with Him to move in power, knowing that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17).
We rebuke the spirit of complacency in the church that has grown silent about sin and repentance. The elementary teachings of Christ (Hebrews 6:1-2) are not optional, they are the foundation upon which the house of faith is built. Too many today preach a gospel without repentance, a cross without cost, and a salvation without transformation. But Jesus warned that unless we repent, we will all likewise perish (Luke 13:3). We must contend for the faith once delivered (Jude 3), not with arrogance, but with tears, knowing that the time is short and the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few (Matthew 9:37-38).
Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the only name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). We thank You that You have hidden these truths from the wise and revealed them to little children (Matthew 11:25). We ask You now to draw the lost with cords of lovingkindness (Hosea 11:4). Open blind eyes, unstop deaf ears, and soften hardened hearts. Let the scales fall from their eyes as they did for Paul (Acts 9:18), that they may see Jesus as the Messiah, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world (John 1:29).
For those who have wandered from the truth, we pray for restoration. The one who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins (James 5:20). Father, grant them godly sorrow that leads to repentance (2 Corinthians 7:10). Let them taste and see that You are good (Psalm 34:8), and that the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6:23).
We ask for protection over our own hearts, that we may not be led into temptation but delivered from evil (Matthew 6:13). Guard us from the deception of the evil one, who masquerades as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14). Keep our feet from every evil path (Psalm 119:101) and our hearts fixed on You, the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).
Lord, we long to see Your kingdom come and Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven (Matthew 6:10). Give us boldness to proclaim the full counsel of Your word, even when it is unpopular. Let us not shrink back from declaring the whole purpose of God (Acts 20:27). Raise up laborers for the harvest, men and women who will preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God (1 Corinthians 1:23-24).
We thank You that every promise You have made finds its "Yes" in Christ (2 Corinthians 1:20). We trust in Your faithfulness, knowing that You who began a good work in us will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus (Philippians 1:6). May the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). And may the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all. Amen.
