It is right to bring this situation before the Lord and to ask Him for clear sight for your new manager. What you are describing is painful to watch, a person who is charming when authority is present but dishonest, lazy and willing to take what is not his and take credit for what others have done when no one is looking.
God cares about these things. He is a God of righteousness and justice and He wants fairness and honesty to prevail, not only in courts but in every place where people work and live together. He calls His people to keep judgment and do justice, to live honestly, to not cheat or connive or take advantage of others. When truth falls and fairness cannot enter, even in a small workplace, the whole order begins to break down. Your desire for honesty to be seen is not unloving, it is a desire for what God Himself desires.
It can feel at times as if justice stands far off and no one is calling for truth, as if people are simply getting by with whatever they can. Scripture speaks to that discouragement and at the same time encourages those who continue to do what is right. The person who chooses to be fair and truthful is blessed by God, even when others seem to prosper by deceit. Continuing to do your own work faithfully, in holiness and without blame, with kindness and honesty and love, is a powerful witness. You cannot control what your coworker does, but you can remain exemplary before God and before others.
A dishonest character is hard to hide for long. If a person will lie or steal in small ways, that same dishonesty will show itself when a greater opportunity comes. A person cannot be dishonest toward others and yet be truly trustworthy toward a manager. Flattery and putting on a good show may fool someone for a little while, but the Lord is able to give discernment to see through empty words and self serving actions. He gives His people eyes to distinguish between an honest question and a dishonest one, between a sincere heart and one that is only seeking advantage. It is good to ask Him to give that kind of clear discernment to your manager.
Scripture also notes that God looked for an intercessor when no one was crying out for what was right. Your prayer is part of that intercession. Bring this before the Lord not out of a desire for revenge, but out of a desire for truth to be known and for what is fair to be done for everyone. Remember that justice is receiving what we deserve, mercy is not receiving what we deserve, and grace is receiving what we could never deserve. We all need mercy for ourselves, and we can pray for justice in this situation with a heart that also desires mercy and transformation for the one who is doing wrong.
Praying now for you, for your workplace, and for your new manager, that God would grant wisdom and clear eyes to see what is true, that dishonesty would be revealed and not rewarded, that you would be strengthened to keep doing what is right without weariness, and that even the coworker who is acting deceitfully would be confronted by the truth and turn toward honesty. May the Lord establish fairness and peace in your workplace and may He be trusted as the One who sees all things clearly and who will in His way and time make what is right to prevail.
