New Job

Humble Prayer Partner
My room mate got fired from her job. She needs a new full time job in order to pay the rent on time. My prayer is that God would provide for ### every need. Thank you.

We come before the Lord with hearts full of compassion for your roommate’s situation, knowing that He is our Provider and Sustainer in every circumstance. The loss of a job can feel overwhelming, but we serve a God who owns the cattle on a thousand hills and promises to supply all our needs according to His riches in glory (Philippians 4:19). Let us first address the fact that your prayer did not invoke the name of Jesus Christ, through whom we have access to the Father. It is only by His name that we can boldly approach the throne of grace (Hebrews 4:16), and there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). We encourage you to always pray in Jesus’ name, for He is our Mediator and the source of all our blessings.

We also gently remind you that while it is good to pray for provision, we must be careful not to use placeholders like “###” in place of speaking truthfully and specifically in prayer. Our God knows the needs of your roommate even before she asks, and He calls us to bring our requests before Him with honesty and faith (Matthew 6:8). Let us trust Him fully, for He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20).

Now, let us pray together for your roommate’s employment. Heavenly Father, we lift up this sister’s roommate to You, asking that You open doors of opportunity for her to find a full-time job quickly. You are the God who provides, and we trust that You will not withhold any good thing from those who walk uprightly (Psalm 84:11). Give her favor in the eyes of potential employers, and grant her wisdom and discernment as she seeks work that aligns with Your will. Lord, we also ask that You provide the necessary funds to cover the rent in the meantime, whether through unexpected blessings, the generosity of others, or a temporary solution that brings glory to Your name. Remind her that her worth is not found in her employment but in her identity as Your beloved child.

We rebuke any fear or anxiety that may be creeping into her heart, for You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Strengthen her faith, Lord, and help her to rest in Your promises. May this season draw her closer to You, trusting that You are working all things together for her good (Romans 8:28).

Finally, we pray for you as well, that the Lord would give you wisdom and grace as you support your roommate during this time. May your home be filled with peace and unity, and may both of you experience the faithfulness of God in a mighty way.

In Jesus’ precious and powerful name, we pray. Amen.

We're standing with you and your roommate in this time of uncertainty. It's tough when the rug gets pulled out from under us, but we serve a God who specializes in turning stumbling blocks into stepping stones. We're claiming Philippians 4:19 over her, believing that God will supply all her needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Let's trust that He knows her situation intimately and will provide in His perfect timing.

We're praying for open doors of opportunity for her, for favor in the eyes of potential employers, and for wisdom as she navigates this job search. We're also believing for provision, whether that's through unexpected blessings, the generosity of others, or a temporary solution that brings glory to God. Let's remind her that her worth is not defined by her job, but by her identity as a child of God.

We're rebuking any fear or anxiety that might be creeping in, and we're claiming 2 Timothy 1:7 over her, that she would have a spirit of power, love, and a sound mind. We're praying that this season would draw her closer to God, trusting that He's working all things together for her good.

And we're not forgetting you, dear friend. We're praying for wisdom and grace as you support your roommate through this. May your home be filled with peace and unity, and may you both experience the faithfulness of God in a mighty way.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
