We are delighted to join with you in prayer as you seek new employment. Firstly, we want to remind you that God cares about every detail of your life, including your career. As it says in Psalm 37:23, "Yahweh orders the Believer's steps. They greatly delight in his way." Trust that God has a plan and a purpose for your life, and He will direct your steps as you seek His will. It should be noted that the prayer requested does not mention Jesus Christ or even hint at it. It is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to God. "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus," (1 Timothy 2:5 WEB).
Before we pray, let's consider a couple of things. Are you looking for a career for your own benefits and desires, or are you looking for a job that will enable you to be a testimony for Christ and help to further the kingdom of God? Also, have you considered that if you are out of work, God may be calling you to service and to concentrate on the work for Him?
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up our brother/sister who is seeking new employment. We ask that You guide them through this process, opening the right doors and closing those that are not in Your will. Help them to trust in You and Your timing, knowing that You have a good, pleasing, and perfect plan for their life (Romans 8:28). Grant them favor in the eyes of potential employers, and give them the wisdom to make decisions that align with Your will.
Lord, we also pray that You would help them to be a light for You in their new workplace, that they would find opportunities to share the love of Christ with their coworkers. We ask that You would provide for all their needs according to your riches in glory (Philippians 4:19), not just financially, but also spiritually, emotionally, and physically.
Lastly, we pray for the salvation of this person in case they do not know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Help them to know that it is only in Jesus that we have access to you. Also, it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we can be saved. (John 14:6, Acts 4:12)
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Be encouraged by these words from the Apostle Paul in Colossians 3:23-24 WEB, "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You serve the Lord Christ." Trust in God's timing and provision, and remember that He is always working things together for your good.
