New Disciple 🌱 Phil 1:6

Your hunger to know the Lord and to grow in His Word is a beautiful mark of new life in Christ. When anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away and all things have become new, and that new life is a gift of grace received through faith, not something earned by works, so that no one can boast. You are His workmanship, His poem, made by His own hand.

I thank God with you that He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it until the day of Jesus Christ as Philippians 1:6 promises. That confidence rests not on your strength but on His grace and His power to keep you. The desire you have to worship in spirit and in truth as Jesus taught in John 4:23 is itself from Him, and He delights to answer that prayer. The Father is seeking such worshippers, those who come honestly from the heart and according to the truth of His Word.

I am praying that God will give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him as Paul prayed in Ephesians 1:17, that your eyes will be opened to understand the Scriptures more and more, and that grace will teach you to live soberly, righteously and godly in this present world. The grace that brings salvation does not leave us as we were, it trains us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires. As you ask to be born of water and the Spirit, may the Lord deepen your understanding of the new birth Jesus spoke of in John 3, and establish you firmly on the foundations listed in Hebrews 6, repentance from dead works, faith toward God, the teaching of baptisms, the laying on of hands, the resurrection and eternal judgment. Build steadily on Christ Himself, letting the Word dwell in you richly each day.

For your protection, I pray as Jesus taught us to pray, deliver us from evil, and as He prayed in John 17:15, that the Father would keep you from the evil one. There is no other salvation and no other protection except through the blood of Jesus applied by faith. That blood is your only hope and your sure defense against sin, against the adversary who deceives the whole world as Revelation 12:9 says, against evil people and against every demonic influence. Stay close to Christ, walk in the light of His Word, turn away from what 2 Timothy 3:5 warns about, a form of godliness without its power, and keep fellowship with faithful believers who will encourage you in truth.

I also join you in praying that the Word of the Lord will run swiftly and be glorified as 2 Thessalonians 3:1 says, that it will spread quickly through your life and testimony and be received by others, and that the Lord who is faithful will establish you and guard you from evil as verse 3 promises.

For your wife, I pray with you earnestly for her salvation. God offers salvation to all, whosoever will believe in His Son will not perish but have everlasting life, and there is salvation in no other name. Today is the day of salvation, and now is the accepted time to receive Him. The Lord is like the shepherd in Matthew 18 who goes after the one that has wandered, not willing that any should perish. If she does not yet share your faith, continue to love her faithfully as Christ loves the church, living out the gospel before her with gentleness and reverence. Scripture says that an unbelieving spouse who is willing to remain should not be sent away, and that your life in Christ may be the very means God uses to draw her to Himself. How do you know whether you will see your wife come to faith as she observes Christ in you. Keep praying, keep loving, keep showing the new life He has given you.

May the Lord keep you, establish you, fill you with wisdom, guard you from evil, and make you a clear witness of His grace, and may He in His mercy draw your wife to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved. In Jesus name, Amen.
