Heredity
Christ’s Estimate of His People
The Wall Daubed With Untempered Mortar
We join with you in lifting up your neighbor before the Lord, for we hear the burden you carry for him and we share your desire to see God bring peace where there is violence and anger.

The Word shows us that violent anger does not reflect the heart of God and must be put away. We are told to let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander, be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you Ephesians 4:31-32. We are also taught that everyone should be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger, for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God James 1:19-20. A man who is ruled by anger is not walking in the Spirit, for the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control Galatians 5:22-23. God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Timothy 1:7, and we pray that your neighbor will come to know this transforming power.

You asked that God would break curses over him. We understand this concern, and scripture assures us that Christ has already made the way for freedom from every curse and bondage, for Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us Galatians 3:13. There is no curse that is stronger than the blood of Jesus, and no chain that His power cannot break when a heart turns to Him in repentance and faith. True deliverance does not come through ritual or incantation but through surrender to Christ and walking in obedience to His Word.

We notice your prayer was offered to God without mentioning Jesus, and we gently share this truth with you because it is so vital. It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father, for Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If your neighbor does not yet know Jesus as Lord and Savior, his greatest need is to believe on Him, confess his sin, and receive forgiveness and a new heart. The same is true for each of us, and we encourage you to continue to pray that he would encounter Jesus and be born again.

We pray together now for him in the name of Jesus. Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and lift up this man to You. You see his anger and violence and the pain that drives it. We ask You to convict his heart, to bring him to repentance, and to deliver him from every influence of sin and darkness that holds him captive. Break every chain in his life by the power of the cross and fill him with Your Holy Spirit, that he may bear the fruit of peace and self-control. Give him a new heart and renew his mind, and lead him to seek help and counsel from godly men and from Your Word. Protect those around him, give wisdom and safety to his neighbors, and use us to show Your love while also upholding what is right and true. We ask that he would come to know Jesus as his Savior and Lord, and that Your peace which passes all understanding would guard his heart. We ask all this in Jesus name, amen.

We encourage you to continue to pray faithfully for him, to show the love of Christ in word and deed, and to maintain wise boundaries for safety. If his violence threatens harm to others, we encourage you to seek help from trusted pastors and from appropriate authorities as needed, for God calls us to love our neighbor and also to protect the vulnerable. Trust that God is able to change even the hardest heart, and keep interceding that this man will turn from anger to the gentleness and mercy found only in Christ.

We appreciate you bringing your neighbour before the Lord instead of just keeping your distance. It is heavy to live near someone who is often angry and violent, and it can leave you feeling helpless and on edge. Your compassion for him matters and we are grateful you asked us to pray.

We are joining you in lifting up ###. We do not know all that is behind his anger, but God does. We are asking Him to meet him where he is, to soften what is hard, to calm what is turbulent, and to bring freedom and healing in the places he feels stuck. We are also praying for safety and peace for you and others who live nearby.

As you keep praying, it helps to keep good boundaries too. You can care and intercede for him without trying to fix this on your own or putting yourself in harm's way. If you ever feel unsafe, step back and talk with a pastor or another trusted person nearby who can help you think through wise next steps. Even a brief, steady prayer for him each day is a faithful way to stand with him while trusting God to do what only He can do.

Father, we bring ### before You. You see his anger and the hurt underneath. We ask for Your mercy to reach him, to bring peace where there is violence and freedom where there is bondage. Protect those around him and give wisdom to all who interact with him. Draw him toward Your grace and toward the help he needs. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your prayer for your neighbour has been heard and we join with you in carrying this burden to the throne of grace. It is a grievous thing to see a man given over to violence and anger, for such as lay violent hands upon their own characters and are at enmity with their own souls are going down to the pit unless sovereign mercy intervene.

We take comfort that deliverance from sin is solely by the power of God. It is not of him that wills, nor of him that runs, but of God that shows mercy. Deliverance from the power of sin is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of sin, and where we look for justification there must we also look for sanctification. Our hope for this man is not in his own resolve but in Him who has found a ransom.

You ask that God would break the curses. Hear what the Scripture declares, Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us. In our place He bore our sins and the curse which came of it. There is no need to fear any other curse when we flee to Him, for He was slain and has redeemed us to God by His blood. The clock of mercy can strike in heaven the hour and moment of deliverance, for thus has the eternal purpose of Jehovah decreed it.

We will pray that the Lord who delivers from the power of darkness will work such a conquest in this troubled heart as He wrought of old, and bring peace where there has been strife. May the Lord show him his need of a Saviour, that he is a condemned sinner who needs Christ alone, and may He grant him a new heart that no longer finds pleasure in sin, but proves by a changed life that he has been truly called and regenerated. We pray that anger may be moderated and subdued by divine grace, and that He who chastens in covenant love would not give him over, but bring him forth as with silver and gold, enriched by mercy.

Let us pray together. O Lord our God, who alone can deliver from the pit, look upon this man in his violence and anger and have pity upon him. Thou hast invented and found a ransom in the blood of Thy Son. Apply that ransom to him, redeem him from the curse, and deliver him from the power of darkness. Break the dominion of sin within him, give him a meek and quiet spirit, and let him live to declare the works of the Lord. We ask this not because he is worthy, but because Christ is worthy, and His sacrifice is sufficient. Amen.

Continue to intercede for him and, as you have opportunity, point him to the Lamb that was slain, for there alone is deliverance effectual. If we had no troubles we would have less to declare, but when God grants deliverance we shall have a song to sing to His praise.
