Isaiah 49:15Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne

We hear the heavy burden on your heart and we join with you in prayer for all who are suffering abandonment and for every unborn child who is despised or rejected by mother or father.

We agree that every child, born and unborn, is fearfully and wonderfully made by God and known by Him before birth. The shedding of innocent blood is an abomination to the Lord, and abortion is murder, a grave sin that ends a life created in His image and exterminates a generation that will never be seen. God says in Exodus 20:13 You shall not murder, and in Proverbs 6:16-17 that Yahweh hates hands that shed innocent blood. Yet we also know the mercy of God for those who repent, for when we confess our sins He is faithful to forgive us through the blood of Jesus Christ.

We take comfort that you have lifted this in the name of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name by which we can be saved and no other way to the Father. As it is written in John 14:6 Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, and in Acts 4:12 There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. It is only through faith in Jesus that we have access to God and that even the guilt of abortion can be washed away.

We hold fast to the promises you quoted, that God does not abandon those who are forsaken by family. In Psalm 27:10 When my father and my mother forsake me, then Yahweh will take me up. And in Isaiah 49:15 Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb. Yes, these may forget, yet I will not forget you. We also remember Psalm 139:13 For you formed my inward parts. You knit me together in my mother's womb, and Jeremiah 1:5 Before I formed you in the belly, I knew you. Before you came out of the womb, I sanctified you, and Psalm 68:5 A father of the fatherless, and a defender of the widows, is God in his holy habitation.

We rebuke the spirit of abandonment and the culture of death that treats children as disposable, and we rebuke the disobedience and disorder that brings sabotage and disaster upon families and neighborhoods. Marriage as God ordained it, a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, is the shelter He designed for children and for husband and wife to not forsake one another, and when that covenant is broken, children and spouses are left alone and vulnerable. We pray that God would restore godly marriages and bring repentance where there has been unfaithfulness, fornication, adultery, and the taking of innocent life.

We pray together now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we ask for Your mercy upon every unborn baby who is hated or rejected, upon every mother and father tempted to abort, and upon every family that has participated in this ancient extermination of generations. Lord forgive us as a people for the blood that has been shed. We entrust every aborted and miscarried child into Your care, asking that You receive them into Your presence and grant them rest and peace in heaven, for You alone can take them to Yourself. We pray for all who are suffering loneliness, who have lost family, who are abandoned as wife, as husband, as daughter, as son, as brother or sister or friend, and for the children left alone without house or refuge or shelter. Be their refuge and their dwelling place. As You have promised never to leave nor forsake us in Deuteronomy 31:6, take up those whom others have forsaken and provide for them shelter, provision, and godly community. Bring order out of neighborhood disorder and heal the environment that has been corrupted by sin. Bring conviction and repentance to those who have despised life, and bring healing and forgiveness through the cross of Christ to all who turn to You. Raise up men and women who will defend the fatherless and the unborn and who will honor marriage and family as You designed. Let Your compassion be known in our land. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord we ask, Amen.

We hear how deeply you are carrying others in prayer, especially those who feel abandoned and alone, families without a home or refuge, and unborn children who are not welcomed. It is a heavy burden to hold so much sorrow at once, and we thank you for bringing it before the Lord with such compassion.

Grief over these kinds of losses is not the same for any two people, and it often comes in waves. When you are praying for many at the same time, it can help to stay anchored in what is most personal to you right now. You mentioned shelter and the lack of a safe place for people nearby. If you know neighbors or if you yourself are without stable housing or support, it may help to share that specific need with a trusted pastor or a local church care ministry who can walk alongside you and help connect to practical help in your area. You do not have to carry all of this alone.

We are joining you in prayer for those who feel forsaken, that they would know they are seen and not forgotten, and for the little ones entrusted to God's mercy and care.

Father, we lift to You everyone this prayer remembers, those who are lonely, abandoned, and without refuge, and every unborn child. Show Your mercy and care, provide what is needed for daily life, and give wisdom and steady support to those who come alongside them. Give our friend peace as he continues to intercede. In Jesus' name, amen.

There is a deep and piercing sorrow in the cry you have brought before the Lord, and it is right that it should be laid at His feet. The abandonment of wife and husband, of son and daughter, of brother and sister and friend, the loneliness of children left without shelter or refuge, the despising and destroying of the unborn, these are grievous in the sight of God who made man in His own image and who ordained the family for His glory.

The Lord has not left Himself without witness that He is a refuge for the forsaken. When father and mother forsake, the Lord will receive. Though a mother should forget the child at her breast and have no compassion on the son of her womb, yet will He not forget His own. He is a safe shelter under whose wings the helpless may trust, a city of refuge to which the guilty and the wounded may flee and find shelter forever through the blood of Jesus Christ. In the season of direst grief God is all in all to His people, and He hears their groaning and remembers His covenant.

We entrust to His mercy those little ones who have no voice to plead for themselves, the unborn who are despised and rejected, the aborted and the miscarried. We do not speak lightly of sin, for God is just and will by no means allow His laws to be despised, and the shedding of innocent blood is terrible in His sight. Yet we know also that His mercy is great toward penitent sinners, and that Christ the Lamb is all in all both here and in Heaven. We bless God that our babes shall have the same Heaven as the saints who have gone before, for they shall with equal clearness see the face of Jesus, and in Heaven no need is unsatisfied and no desire ungratified. Heaven is God fully enjoyed, and whoever knows God knows Heaven. The whole family in Heaven and earth is one family in Christ, not divided by death, and the love of God toward His children is not altered by their place.

Let us pray together.

O God of our salvation, who art a consuming fire and also a gracious and merciful Father, look in compassion upon all who suffer abandonment and upon children who wander without house or friend to receive them. Provide shelter for the homeless, refuge for the lonely, and faithful friends and families to support them according to Thy good design of one man and one woman in lifelong covenant, and of children received as a heritage from Thee. Forgive the great sin of destroying life made in Thine image, and grant repentance where there has been hardness of heart. Wash penitent sinners in the blood and righteousness of Christ who alone can save, for there is salvation in no other. Receive, we beseech Thee, the innocent little ones into Thy keeping, and let Thy comfort rest upon those who mourn them. Teach us to walk by Thy Word which is our chart and by Thy Spirit which is our compass, till we reach the harbor in that bright world where we shall see Jesus face to face. Make us to live near to Thee now, that this world may become a nether Heaven by Thy presence, and that we may worship and rejoice even here as those above do with Thee. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who is our only hope. Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your prayer for those who suffer abandonment and for unborn children has been heard, and we join you in bringing these sorrows before the Lord.

We grieve with you for every child lost through abortion or miscarriage, for every person left alone without house or family or friend to offer refuge, for husbands and wives, sons and daughters, brothers and sisters who have been forsaken or betrayed, and for neighborhoods where disorder and hardship have left many without shelter. God sees each of these and He is not indifferent to their pain.

Scripture gives us true comfort in such affliction. Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me, as Psalm 27:10 says. And Isaiah 49:15 reminds us, can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne. Even if that were possible, the Lord says He will not forget. He is the refuge for those who have no other refuge, and He draws near to the brokenhearted so that they may flee to Him and abide with Him.

We pray together now. Father of mercy, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, through whom alone is salvation, have mercy on all who are suffering abandonment and loneliness. Provide shelter and protection for those without a home, comfort for those betrayed by family or friends, and healing for those wounded by loss. Receive into Your care the innocent unborn who have died, whether despised or rejected by their parents. We entrust them to Your compassion and ask that You give them rest and peace in Your presence. Grant repentance, forgiveness and healing to mothers and fathers burdened by guilt, and give to Your people hearts of compassion to welcome, protect and support every life. Let those who are alone find that You are their family and their shelter, and lead us all to walk in Your ways with faith and obedience. We ask this in the mercy of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Your prayer carries a deep and heavy burden for those who suffer abandonment and for the unborn, and it reflects a heart that grieves over broken families and disorder around you. The pain of being forsaken by father or mother, by husband or wife, by son or daughter, by brother or sister or friend, and the pain of children left without a home or shelter, is real, and God sees it fully.

Scripture speaks directly to this sorrow. It says that though father and mother may forsake us, the Lord will receive us. It asks whether a mother can forget the child at her breast and have no compassion, and then assures us that even if that were possible, God will not forget. His compassion does not fail when human love fails. He does not despise those who are despised or hated by others, and He does not abandon those who have been abandoned.

In the law God provided cities of refuge placed in central locations with clear signs pointing the way, so that a person who had caused a death without intent could flee there and be safe. Inside that city there was protection and a fair hearing. As long as the person remained inside its borders, the avenger could not touch him, but if he left, he was no longer safe. That place was not for those who acted with deliberate malice and premeditation. It was for the innocent who needed shelter. That picture points to what God has provided for us in Jesus Christ. We flee to Him for refuge, and when we remain in Him we are safe and protected. Outside of Him there is no true safety, but in Him there is hope and mercy.

The Bible also says that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Because He is that refuge, we do not need to be overcome by fear even when everything around us shakes and is unstable. There is something far more permanent than this troubled world. And this great God who rules over all comes near to us personally. He is called the God of Jacob, a man who was not honorable in himself, which shows that God draws near to ordinary, flawed people and becomes their personal refuge.

God also shows His care through family. He places us in families and calls those who believe His children, where older ones are to be as fathers and mothers and younger ones as brothers and sisters. He calls families to care for their own, and He calls His people to care for those who have no family left to care for them.

So we pray with you now. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we ask for Your mercy on every person who feels abandoned and alone, on every wife and husband, son and daughter, brother and sister and friend who has been betrayed or left without refuge, and on every child without a home. Provide shelter, provide people who will receive and support them, and be Yourself their dwelling place when no other door is open. Bring peace to neighborhoods marked by disorder and confusion.

We entrust to Your care every unborn child who is not wanted or loved by mother or father, every child lost through abortion or miscarriage. You form life and You value it. Have mercy, and receive these little ones into Your presence. Comfort those who mourn them, bring repentance and healing where there has been sin and violence, and guard the generations to come.

We ask that You help all who are suffering to hear the signs that point to refuge and to flee to Christ and remain in Him, where there is forgiveness, safety, and strength for every trouble. May those who feel forsaken know today that You receive them, that You remember them, and that You will not forget them.
