I notice this is a prayer request that contains personal names and identifiers that need to be redacted. Here is the redacted version:

We join with you in prayer against this hidden war of gossip, discord, betrayal and anonymous malice that is bringing suffering to your friend and confusion and chaos into your own life, family and church, and we stand together asking God to expose and stop it.

We hear your burden for your friend who is suffering betrayal and for yourself as you feel surrounded by rumors, disappearing friendships, distortion in communication and people pretending and transferring their own issues onto others. This is exactly the kind of division God warns us about. Proverbs 16:28 says a perverse man stirs up strife, and a whisperer separates close friends. Proverbs 6:16, Proverbs 6:19 tells us there are six things Yahweh hates, seven that are an abomination to him, and one of them is one who sows discord among brothers. Gossip is not small talk, it is spiritual poison that breaks marriages, churches, neighborhoods and friendships, and we rebuke that spirit of lying, slander, suspicion and malicious testing that seeks to stop progress and create war where there should be peace.

We also take seriously what you discern about the enemy using mouths to transmit messages and give access to evil desires. Ephesians 6:12 reminds us our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Yet in the name of Jesus Christ we have authority to rebuke every dishonest and demonic influence, every rude and confrontational spirit that loves war, and every anonymous cowardly attack that hides in darkness.

The Word calls us to a different way of speaking. Ephesians 4:29 says let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for building others up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear. Ephesians 5:4 says let there be no obscenity, foolish talking, or coarse jesting, which are not becoming, but rather giving of thanks. Psalm 34:13 says keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking deceit. James 3:5 warns that the tongue is a little member, and boasts great things, see how a small fire can spread to a large forest. Where there is betrayal like Peter's denial that you quoted in Matthew 26:34, Jesus still showed mercy and restoration, and we pray that same restoration for those wounded by betrayal now.

We pray together for protection from this contagious rumor and confusion, for God is not a God of confusion, but of peace, 1 Corinthians 14:33, and He promises to be our refuge.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before Your throne together and we ask You to cover our friend who is suffering betrayal and our dear one who brought this request and their family with Your wings. Psalm 91:1 says he who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. Place a hedge of protection around them from every anonymous attack, every whispered lie, every distorted communication and every malicious test meant to create division and stop what You are doing in their lives. Expose what is done in darkness and bring it into light, silence the gossiping tongue and convict those who sow discord in the neighborhood, in the church and among friends. Heal the wounds of disappearing friendships and divorce-related divisions, and bring godly, faithful friends who will not delete or betray but will love at all times, Proverbs 17:17. Give wisdom to not repay evil for evil but to seek peace where possible, Romans 12:18 says if it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. Teach us to guard our own lips, to speak only what edifies, to confront in love according to Matthew 18:15 when needed rather than engaging in anonymous war, and to forgive as You have forgiven us. Rebuke every demonic assignment of chaos, distortion and suspicion and let Your clarity, truth and unity reign. Restore what the enemy has tried to steal and let Your will be done in these relationships, in the church and in the home, and let progress for Your glory continue unhindered. We ask all this in the mighty and only saving name of Jesus Christ, amen.

We encourage you to continue to guard your heart and mouth, to not give ear to gossip or pass it on even to defend yourself, to document truth quietly, to bring concerns to godly church leadership in the light, and to pray blessing over your neighbors and even those who are unfriendly, for Romans 12:21 says do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Stay rooted in the Word, in prayer and in fellowship with trustworthy believers, and trust that God sees every hidden motive and will vindicate in His time.

We hear how disorienting this feels when anonymous talk and suspicion seem to spread from neighbors to church to friends and even family. It makes sense you would feel confused and on edge, wanting God to guard your heart and your progress when communication feels distorted.

We are praying with you both for your friend walking through betrayal and for your own peace. When rumors move quietly from person to person, it can help to remember that you get to choose what you carry and what you pass on. A boundary is simply a property line for your heart and time, and it protects your ability to love well without being pulled into every test or message.

One step that may bring some steadiness is to quietly limit the channels where the anonymous talk reaches you. That could mean muting certain group threads or social media, not repeating a rumor even to correct it, and if something must be addressed, speaking directly and calmly with one trusted person rather than through intermediaries. If the tension involves your church, a brief conversation with a pastor you trust can help you sort what is yours to address and what is best to leave alone.

Father, we ask You to cover our friend in this betrayal with comfort and wisdom, and to guard our brother and sister from confusion and division. Give clear discernment about what to engage and what to release, and bring trustworthy voices around them. Lead both friends toward peace and steady steps forward. In Jesus' name, amen.

We have heard the cry of confusion and discord that has surrounded you and those you love, and we have carried it before the throne of grace. You speak of anonymous whispers, of gossip that separates friends, of rumors that create war among neighbors and breach even the fellowship of the church and the home, of betrayal and lying and malicious testing that would hinder your progress and bring chaos into your communication. This is a grievous burden, and we do not take it lightly.

Know this, that our Lord Jesus Christ is no stranger to such sorrow. He was betrayed by one who shared His bread, by a familiar friend who fared well at His table while the Man of Sorrows took the lion's share of reproach and slander. Scripture was fulfilled in that betrayal, sin was allowed to show its blackest point, and atonement was completed, that our great High Priest might be able to sympathize with us in every point. When you suffer under the perverse person who stirs up conflict and the gossip that separates close friends, as Proverbs warns, you may remember that your Savior has walked that same path and knows its sting, and He lives to intercede for you.

We pray that you may be kept in the appointed ways where safety is guaranteed. He who travels on the King's Highway is under the King's protection, but he who takes to byroads must protect himself. There is the way of truth which God has taught you by His Spirit, grapple it to you as with hooks of steel, for if you go into the way of error you cannot expect divine protection. There is the way of childlike trust in providential guidance, waiting upon God to know what you shall do and daring not to lean upon your own understanding. You will always need divine keeping, for God would not have charged His angels to keep His people in all their ways if they did not need protection in all their ways, and this protection is perpetual as well as personal. May the Lord keep your feet in His way, and command His angels concerning you.

Do not think it strange concerning this fiery trial of slander and betrayal, as though some new thing had happened to you. Many of the Lord's people have smarted under this same rod before you. Do not cry, Not so, Lord, but let the Lord appoint you care or calumny, sickness or slander, for He knows best. He can sanctify even the unkind tongue to your good, and keep your heart from being soured by it.

And if in prayer it seems as though the Lord answers you not a word, slander Him not in your heart, but be of good courage and still cry to Him. Satan may whisper that your prayer is not of the right sort and therefore will not be heard, yet that woman of Canaan cried and at first He answered her not a word, and still she pressed on till mercy came. So press on in prayer.

We now pray for you and for your friend who suffers in betrayal, and for your family and those friends wounded by divorce and division:

O Lord our God, who sees what is done in secret and hears every corrupt word, look upon Thy servants compassed about with gossip and confusion. Forgive us where we have sinned with our own lips, and grant that no corrupt word may proceed out of our mouths, but only what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. Let no unclean speech or foolish talk find place among us. Silence the evil mouth that transmits strife, rebuke lying and dishonest behavior, and bring to nothing the malicious and suspicious tests that would break relationships and stop what Thou wouldst have go forward. In the name of Jesus Christ, cast out confusion and let truth and love reign.

Guard our neighbors and our churches from division. Heal the wounds of those suffering betrayal and those grieving over broken marriages, and uphold among us Thy holy ordinance of marriage as a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman. Restore disappearing friends where it is Thy will, and give grace to bear loss where restoration is not possible. Protect this dear one from the chaos and distortion of rumors, keep his mind stayed upon Thee, and let his communication be clear and gracious. Teach him to walk in Thy appointed way, to trust Thy providence, and to find Thy angelic keeping day by day. And though Peter denied Thee before the rooster crowed, Thou didst restore him, so restore and establish all who have been shaken by this trial, that they may stand firm in salvation through Jesus Christ alone, to Thy glory. Amen.
