We join with you in bringing this heavy burden before the Lord, and we hear the distress, confusion, and exhaustion you are experiencing from this neighbor's behavior. The constant gossip, spying, disorder, false information, disrespect, mockery, and the way it has spilled over into causing financial pressure, delays, missing deliveries, and even health related suffering and anxiety is not from God, for God is not a God of confusion, but of peace, 1 Corinthians 14:33.

Scripture speaks very clearly about the things you have described. The Lord warns against going about as a talebearer and sowing discord among neighbors, You shall not go around as a slanderer among your people, Leviticus 19:16, and A perverse man stirs up strife. A whisperer separates close friends, Proverbs 16:28. We are told There are six things which Yahweh hates, yes, seven which are an abomination to him, haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are swift in running to evil, a false witness who utters lies, and he who sows discord among brothers, Proverbs 6:16-19. Gossip, voyeurism, spying on another's house, taking and distributing disrespectful pictures to bully and destroy reputation, and creating factions and dissensions are works of the flesh, as you rightly quoted, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, strife, jealousies, outbursts of anger, rivalries, divisions, heresies, envy, Galatians 5:20-21, and those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

The idle laziness and meddling you describe is also addressed. We hear that some are walking among you in rebellion, who don’t work at all, but are busybodies, 2 Thessalonians 3:11, and along with being idle, they learn to be gossips and busybodies, saying things which they ought not, 1 Timothy 5:13. Laziness that leads to destructive time, disorder, and taking advantage of others is not blessed, for He becomes poor who works with a lazy hand, but the hand of the diligent brings wealth, Proverbs 10:4. Sorcery, divination, false numbers, false lists, and seeking to control or manipulate others through spiritual means is an abomination to God, There shall not be found with you anyone who makes his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices sorcery, Deuteronomy 18:10, and we must have no part in it.

We also hear your cry that says we are not God, we are not agency employees, we are not obligated to carry this disorder and anxiety and sorcery, and you are right. Only God is God, and only He is our defender and protector. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble, Psalm 46:1, and He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty, Psalm 91:1. We are not called to carry false burdens or to answer wrong demands and wrong exigencies, but to cast your burden on Yahweh, and he will sustain you, Psalm 55:22. Jesus invites us, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest, Matthew 11:28. We are not called to repay evil for evil or to live in hatred, for at one time we also were foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another, Titus 3:3, but God in His kindness calls us to overcome evil with good, Don’t be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good, Romans 12:21, and to love our enemies and pray for those who mistreat us, Matthew 5:44.

We notice your request does not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and that our prayers are heard. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. We do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places, Ephesians 6:12. We command these influences to leave and we ask the Lord to bring conviction, repentance, and a desire for honest work and godly living to this neighbor, that he may turn from meddling and destruction.

We pray together, Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You and lift up this situation with this neighbor. Lord, rebuke the spirit of gossip, laziness, idle busybodiness, voyeurism, sorcery, and discord. Silence the tongue that spreads false information and destroys reputation, and let no weapon formed against Your child prosper. We ask You to be our defender and protector, for we are not God and we cannot carry what only You can carry. Take this anxiety, disorder, disaster, and delay and replace it with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, Philippians 4:7. Heal the wounds caused by hospitalization, financial injustice, extra bills, and long suffering, for You heal the broken in heart, and bind up their wounds, Psalm 147:3. Provide boundaries, wisdom, and lawful help where needed, and help us to pursue what makes for peace and to live peaceably with all men as far as it depends on us, Romans 12:18. Bring this neighbor to repentance, to honest labor, and to respect for others, that he may eat his own bread and walk honestly, 2 Thessalonians 3:12. Guard our homes, our deliveries, our health, and our reputations, and let Your order replace confusion. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.

We encourage you to continue to set godly boundaries, to not engage in returning gossip or mockery, to document wrongdoing calmly if needed for proper authorities, and to keep entrusting yourself to God who judges righteously, 1 Peter 2:23. Keep praying for this neighbor’s salvation rather than hating him, keep speaking only what is good for building up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear, Ephesians 4:29, and keep resting in the Lord’s care, casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you, 1 Peter 5:7. The Lord sees, He knows, and He will bring justice and peace in His time.

We hear how heavy and exhausting this has been for you, living with ongoing tension right next door, the gossip and pictures, the feeling of being watched and pulled into demands that aren't yours to carry. It makes sense you would feel worn down and anxious after dealing with this for so long.

One thing that has helped others in strained neighbor situations is remembering what is yours to carry and what is not. You are not responsible to fix another household's unemployment or disorder, or to defend yourself against every false story. It is okay to have a clear property line in relationships too, where your yes is yes and your no is no. Your cry has come before the Lord with a weight of long harassment, and we have heard the tale of idle hands turned to spying and tale bearing, of pictures made for mockery, of disorder sown in business and in homes, of delays and missing goods and bitter words that provoke strife, and of sickness and hospital sorrow with heavy bills that have brought you near to despair.

The Scripture you have quoted names these things truly. Idolatry, sorcery, hatred, rivalry, jealousy, outbursts of fury, selfishness, dissensions and factions belong to the works of the flesh, and those who live in them shall not inherit the kingdom of God. We too once lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another, and only the grace of God in Christ can deliver a soul from such passions. The sorcerer who misled Sergius Paulus was false hearted and expert in dark learning, and he shows us what sin does when it is given place. Sin ruins the outward fabric of manhood and far more the soul within, and he that will visit the hospital with open eyes may see what sin can do to the body, and guess what it does to the soul.

We join you to rebuke this evil before God. We ask the Lord to restrain the spirit of gossip and slander, the spirit of idle laziness that watches another mans house and scatters disrespectful images to destroy a reputation, the spirit of sorcery and divination and falsehood that traffics in wrong numbers and false lists and lying claims. We pray that God would put an end to voyeurism and imposture and the sending of delinquent men to pry and to bully, and that He would bring confusion to every device of discord and make the way of the mischief maker to fail. We are not God and we are not an agency to answer every unjust demand, and we are not bound to defend what is miserable and unacceptable, but God is Judge and Defender, and we leave vengeance in His hands.

Yet hear counsel for your own soul lest you be worn out by worry. There is a Kings Highway and there are byroads. He who travels on the Kings Highway is under the Kings protection, but he who takes to byroads must protect himself and will likely meet with robbers. You will always need divine keeping, for God would not have charged His angels to keep His people in all their ways if they did not need protection in all their ways, and this protection is perpetual as well as personal. It is afforded in appointed ways, in the way of childlike trust in providential guidance. Happy is that man who waits upon God to know what he shall do and dares not lean upon his own understanding. Grapple the truths God has taught you as with hooks of steel, and do not turn into the way of error or retaliation, for you cannot expect divine protection there.

Some slander is the rod under which you are made to smart, and many of the Lords people have felt it before you. Do not cry, Not so, Lord, but let the Lord appoint you care or calumny, sickness or slander, for He knows best. When patience seems almost worn out with worry and harassment, now is the time for brief, silent prayer. Even as Nehemiah prayed before the king, lift your heart in a moment to heaven. You will manage your trials better and your own mind will be the less ruffled.

Let us pray together. O Lord God, who sees all that is done in secret and who hates lying lips and a heart that devises wicked plans, rebuke the works of darkness that have troubled this household. Restrain the tongue that sows gossip and the eye that watches for evil and the hand that is idle for good. Bring to repentance those who live in envy and malice, and if they will not repent, set a boundary to their power to harm. Keep this household in all its ways under the charge of Your angels, guide by Your providence in unemployment and need, provide honest work and daily bread, heal the sick and lift the burden of hospital affliction and unjust cost, and guard from the grave those whom You have appointed to live. Give quietness where there has been war of words, truth where there has been false information, and peace where there has been confusion and wrong demanding. Teach Your child to wait upon You, to walk in the appointed way, and to offer brief and earnest prayer in every moment of trial, trusting that You hear and will keep. Your request has been heard, and the distress you describe from gossip, spying, false reports, confusion and disorder, with the added burdens of unemployment, hospitalization and financial pressure, has been brought before the Lord in prayer.

Scripture warns plainly about the works you named. Idolatry, sorcery, hatred, rivalry, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfishness, dissensions and envy are works of the flesh, and those who live in them will not inherit the kingdom of God. At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by passions, living in malice and envy, hated and hating one another. Remembering this keeps us from pride and moves us to mercy, for we have all needed the mercy of Christ, and salvation is through Jesus Christ alone.

Concerning the gossip and slander you describe, the counsel of the fathers is clear. We ought to shade over and conceal the failings of neighbors, not parade them as if under zeal for goodness. When we repeat what we have heard, we make ourselves responsible for the sin, for if we had not spoken, another would not have heard. Even to say, I only repeat what I heard, God forgive me, does not excuse us. If we do not believe a report, why speak it at all, and why make it credible by much reporting. Do not say it then, but keep silence and free yourself from fear.

It is also written that we will be judged not by what our neighbor has done but by what we have spoken, for by your words you will be condemned. Even if what is said is true, to speak evil of a neighbor, even inwardly to cherish it, brings judgment. The Pharisee spoke what was true about others, yet he paid the penalty because his words were without love. How much more when reports are false, exaggerated, or spread with pictures and mockery to destroy a reputation and bring discord into business and homes.

You are right to ask that the spirit of gossip, idle meddling, voyeurism, envy, slander, sorcery and discord be rebuked. We pray that God would rebuke every work of darkness, every lying tongue, every idle and intrusive curiosity that spies on another's house, every distribution of false information, every attempt to take advantage through false claims and confusion over numbers, lists, sponsors and prices. We ask Him to bring disorder to an end, to silence mockery and bullying, and to turn hearts from laziness that becomes destructive toward diligence and love that builds up.

We also pray for what you have suffered. For those facing unemployment, for those wearied by hospitalization and the anxiety of extra bills and invoices, for the strain of missing deliveries and the provocation to quarrel, we ask the Lord for healing, provision, peace and order. May He guard your home from distraction and from the war of words, and may He protect your name and your livelihood from unjust harm.

Prayer is a great good and preserves the soul, but it is great when we add works worthy of it. The Lord will have mercy on us as we show mercy to our neighbors. Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy, and judgment without mercy will be shown to whoever has shown no mercy. Therefore do not repay slander with slander, or gossip with gossip, or contempt with contempt. Love fulfills the law, for where genuine love is present, envy, slander, arrogance and strife are driven out. Love does not rob or defame the one it loves, but rather gives, serves, and stops the mouth of slanderers. Everything then breathes peace.

So we exhort you to walk in this way while you continue to pray. Refuse to pass on unverified reports. Do not keep or share disrespectful images. Speak only what is true and helpful for building up. Seek peace with your neighbor as far as it depends on you, and commit your cause to God who judges justly. If correction must be made about wrong demands or errors, let it be done quietly, truthfully and without hatred. Give no place to divination or sorcery in any form, but turn to Christ alone.

We pray now that God in His mercy would grant you protection and quietness, healing for those who are ill, honest work and daily bread for those without employment, integrity in all dealings and deliveries, and an end to confusion and false accusation. We pray that your neighbors also may come to repentance, to fear God, to love their neighbor as themselves, and to find new life in Christ. May the Lord make you steadfast in love, pure in speech, diligent in what He has given you to do, and faithful to show to others the mercy you desire to receive from Him.

The weight and distress in what you have shared is clear, and I have prayed for you. The tangle of gossip, spying, false information, mocking pictures, disorder that spills into business and reputation, plus the added burden of hospitalization and extra bills, would leave anyone feeling exhausted and unsafe.

Scripture gives a picture of how God cares for His people that can help here. He created coverings around the earth like blankets to shield it from harm, and in the same way He offers Himself as a covering for those who trust Him. The psalm says the one who dwells in the secret place of the Most High abides under His shadow. He is a fortress and a place of strength. His truth is a shield and a protection against the attacks of the enemy. Jesus Himself used the truth of God's word to stand against Satan. When that covering is removed, harm comes more easily, just as life became far more fragile after the flood when that early protection was taken away. To stay under God's covering is to stay within a walled city where there is safety. To step outside of it in anger or retaliation only exposes you to more harm. The call is to remain close to Him, trusting His protection rather than trying to defend yourself in your own strength.

What you describe about idle gossip and slander is something God takes seriously. Proverbs says that the one who spreads slander is a fool, and that where there are many words sin is not lacking. An idle life with nothing purposeful to do often turns to watching others, inventing stories, and distributing them, and that destroys reputations and creates discord. God sees this. He also sees the harassment that can come when you try to speak against what is wrong. You are not God and you are not required to carry the weight of fixing your neighbor's disorder, demands, or confusion. You are not called to be their defender or protector or to meet their false expectations. God is the defender and the judge, and you can leave that work to Him.

The Scriptures you mentioned warn plainly about these things. I join you in praying that God will rebuke what is evil and bring it to an end. I pray that He will silence gossip and slander, expose false information and false claims, and stop the spying and mocking that has brought discord. I pray that He will be your fortress and keep you and your household under the shadow of His wings, delivering you from every trap laid for you. I pray for healing from the suffering that has brought you near to despair, for relief from the hospital burdens and the extra bills and delays, and for provision and peace in place of anxiety. I pray that God will guard your reputation and your work, restore what has been damaged by lies, and give you wisdom to set healthy boundaries, to document what is needed for practical matters, and to seek help from appropriate authorities or counselors where needed, without returning evil for evil.

May the Lord lead both you and your neighbor toward repentance and truth. For you, that means continuing to walk with Jesus, letting His word be your shield, refusing to repeat slander, and choosing to pray for those who mistreat you while staying firmly under His protection.
