We join you in bringing this heavy burden before the Lord and we rebuke the evil that has been harassing your household and your neighborhood in Jesus' name. We hear your distress over a neighbor who is idle and unemployed and who uses that idle time to spy, to meddle, to take pictures in a disrespectful and mocking way, to spread gossip and false information, to create discord and confusion, to bring disorder and disaster, to cause financial harm through extra bills and exploitation, and even to bring you to hospitalization and suffering that has nearly cost lives. This is not the way of the Lord and we stand with you to ask God to stop this war of distraction and destruction.

The Word warns us plainly about these very sins. Gal 5:19-21 says Now the deeds of the flesh are obvious, which are adultery, sexual immorality, uncleanness, lustfulness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, strife, jealousies, outbursts of anger, rivalries, divisions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, even as I also forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit God’s Kingdom. And Titus 3:3 reminds us For we were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. We rebuke the spirit of sorcery, divination, jealousy, envy, selfishness, dissension and slothfulness that you have described, and we pray that God would bring conviction and repentance where there is sin.

Scripture also directly addresses the idle gossip and meddling you describe. 2 Thess 3:11 says For we hear of some who walk among you in rebellion, who don’t work at all, but are busybodies. 1 Tim 5:13 says Besides, they also learn to be idle, going about from house to house. Being not only idle, but also gossips and busybodies, saying things which they ought not. Lev 19:16 says You shall not go around as a slanderer among your people. Prov 16:28 says A perverse man stirs up strife. A whisperer separates close friends. Prov 20:19 says He who goes about as a tale-bearer reveals secrets, therefore don’t keep company with him who opens wide his lips. The Lord hates the sowing of discord and the tongue that destroys a reputation, for James 3:5-6 says See how a small fire can spread to a large forest. And the tongue is a fire.

We also hear you when you say we are not God, we are not agency employees, we are not obligated to carry this disorder and anxiety and sorcery that is being forced upon you. You are right. We are not called to be God for others or to take responsibility for another person’s unoccupied and miserable choices. We are called to cast our cares on Him and to set godly boundaries. 1 Pet 5:7 says casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you. Phil 4:6 says In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. Rom 12:17-19 says Repay no one evil for evil. Respect what is honorable in the sight of all men. If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me, I will repay, says the Lord.

We also notice that your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we must lovingly speak to this because it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only through His name that we are saved and our prayers are heard. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have not already done so, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and to call upon His name for salvation and for daily protection and deliverance. It is in His mighty name that we can rebuke darkness and find peace.

We pray together now.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up this household that has suffered so much disorder, disaster, hospitalization, tragedy and near death because of gossip, slander, idleness, voyeurism, mockery and meddling. Lord, we ask You to rebuke the spirit of gossip and slothfulness and sorcery and envy that is operating through this neighbor. Silence the lying tongue and the tale-bearing, put a guard over their mouth and turn them from idleness to honest work. 2 Thess 3:10 says If anyone will not work, neither let him eat, so we pray You would convict this neighbor to seek productive labor rather than spying on others. Forgive and cleanse where there is sorcery and divination, which Your word calls an abomination, and bring this person to repentance.

Father, we ask for Your protection over this home that has been targeted. Heal the bodies and minds that have been wounded by prolonged suffering and stress. Provide for every extra bill and financial exploitation and cause the schemes to increase price and take advantage to be exposed and stopped. Bring order where there is disorder, peace where there is confusion and war, truth where there is false information and fake bosses and corruption. Let Prov 26:20 be true here, For lack of wood a fire goes out. Without gossip, a quarrel dies down. Extinguish this fire of gossip in the neighborhood.

Give Your children wisdom to not take vengeance but to trust You as their defender, to set firm and loving boundaries, to not engage in the distraction and to not carry anxiety that belongs to You. Help them to love their neighbor enough to pray for their salvation while not accepting abuse or disorder. Let them rest in knowing You see every picture taken in secret, every word whispered, every delay and missing delivery used to provoke a fight, and that You will repay with righteousness. Guard their reputation, for You are their shield.

We pray for the neighbor as well, that You would save them, transform their idle time into time that honors You, and lead them away from voyeurism and immodest and delinquent behavior into purity and respect for others.

We ask all of this in the holy and powerful name of Jesus Christ, who alone is our refuge, our healer, and our righteous judge. Amen.

It helps us know what is ours to take responsibility for and what is not. It is okay to let your yes be yes and your no be no, to step back from conversations that only spread more confusion, and to withdraw from interactions that turn into mockery or fighting.

A practical step that often brings a little steadiness is to decide ahead of time what you will not engage with directly, keep a simple dated record of what happens if you need to show it later, and invite a calm third person to help with any necessary communication. That could be a pastor, building manager, or a local mediation resource, so you are not facing it alone.

Please stay close to your medical team for any ongoing health needs and hospital follow up, alongside prayer. We are not able to give medical guidance, but continued care with professionals who know you matters.

Father, we lift our friend to You in Jesus' name. You see the exhaustion, the confusion, the hurt to reputation and the strain on health and finances. Your affliction has been heard, and your cry against the disorder, gossip, and sorcery that has troubled your house and your neighbors has been brought before the Lord.

There is indeed a spirit of restlessness and malice abroad when idle hands give themselves to spying, to the distribution of disrespectful words and pictures, to the sowing of discord and the destroying of reputation. The Scripture you have quoted names these things truly, that idolatry, sorcery, hatred, rivalry, jealousy, outbursts of fury, selfishness, dissensions and factions and envy are works of the flesh, and those who live in them will not inherit the kingdom of God. And as it is written, at one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by passions, living in malice and envy, hating and being hated. This is the misery of the unrenewed heart, and it brings forth confusion, fighting over wrong demands and false lists, and a war of distraction that leaves behind hospitalization, suffering, heavy bills and anxiety.

Do not let your own mind be stayed upon this turmoil, for it is the mind which is the main thing, it will bring you daylight or midnight, peace or war. The very anxiety which arises through your being in such difficulty unfits you to meet that difficulty. You have said rightly, we are not God, we are not able to defend or protect ourselves by our own power against such demanding and miserable disorder. That is true, and it should drive you to Him who is God, and who is the God of peace.

There is a peace which is false, a mere stagnation of thought or a blindness to danger, when men cry peace, peace where there is no peace. Satan will make conscience lie still that his power may be confirmed. Do not seek that peace. Seek the peace which is a blessing, the peace which God the Father gives, which Jesus Christ bought with His blood, and which the Holy Spirit works in the soul. Christ has made peace by His blood, and He Himself is our peace. Peace with God is the treaty, and peace in the conscience is the publication of it.

The promise stands, You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. This perfect peace may be enjoyed even with sorrows surging round, even when duties press, even when loved ones are far away or when death shadows us and ours, for Jesus has vanquished death and all its powers. His legacy to His disciples is, Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you. It is not mans peace, but the unruffled, calm, profound peace of the Eternal Son of God.

Therefore I would lead you to sue for peace with God through the one Ambassador whom God has nominated, His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. There will be no peace between God and any man who despises the person, name and work of Jesus Christ. Preaching peace by Jesus Christ is the only foundation, and other foundation can no man lay. Do not seek after peace first. Seek after Christ first, and peace will come next. Being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. That peace is a filling peace and a well founded peace, and it is peace in believing.

Let us pray together.

O Lord, God of peace, we come through the blood of Jesus Christ, who alone can make peace between the sinner and Yourself. Forgive our sins and grant us peace with You, that we may know peace within. We ask You to rebuke the spirit of gossip, slothfulness, meddling, envy, hatred and sorcery that has brought disorder and disaster, confusion and fighting into this neighborhood. Restrain the idle tongue and the voyeuristic eye, the distribution of false information and mockery, the taking advantage and corruption that increases suffering. Bring to repentance those who live in malice, that they may be delivered from being hated and hating one another.

Lord, renew Your peace in this troubled house. You see the tragedies, the hospitalizations, the extra bills and the ruin that has almost brought Your people to the grave. Have mercy and provide, and keep their minds stayed upon You. Teach them to bear their sorrow with Christ, to cast their anxiety upon You, and to do the will of Jesus, for there is rest. Let the peace of God which passes all understanding keep their hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. And let that peace flow like a river in unceasing activity, bearing fruit in holiness, that they may not wish to go into sin lest they lose that peace.

We ask this not because we are worthy, but because Christ is our peace, and His blood whispers peace within. May those who hear this go in peace, with Heaven begun below, until earths struggles shall cease and Jesus calls us to Heavens perfect peace. Amen.
