We hear your burden and we stand with you in this distress over your neighbor and the chaos that has surrounded your home, your health, and your peace. What you describe is a heavy oppression of gossip, meddling, idleness, mockery, and disorder that has brought financial strain, sickness, anxiety, and even talk of the cemetery, and we take it seriously before the Lord.

We rebuke together the spirit of gossip and slander and the spirit of idleness and meddling that you have described. The Word tells us that a whisperer separates close friends Proverbs 16:28 and that where there is no wood, the fire goes out, so where there is no gossip, strife ceases Proverbs 26:20. We rebuke the bullying, the disrespectful pictures, the distribution of false information, the sowing of discord and confusion, and the sorcery and divination you mentioned, for sorcery and hatred and strife and jealousy and outbursts of anger and rivalries and divisions are works of the flesh Galatians 5:20 and those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. We also rebuke voyeurism and the perverse spying into another house, for God calls us to purity and to respect the boundaries of others.

We also hear your cry that you are not God and you are not called to carry or fix this disorder for your neighbor, and that is true. We are not God, and we are not obligated to be consumed by another person's demanding and idle disorder. We are called to cast all our anxiety on Him, because He cares for us 1 Peter 5:7. We are called to love our neighbor but also to live quiet lives and to mind our own business and work with our own hands 1 Thessalonians 4:11. Scripture warns that some go about from house to house as gossips and busybodies, saying things which they ought not 1 Timothy 5:13 and that those who work not at all are busybodies 2 Thessalonians 3:11. Idleness indeed gives place to the enemy and opens the door to meddling and destruction, and we pray that this neighbor would be convicted and turn from laziness to honest work, that if anyone will not work, neither let him eat 2 Thessalonians 3:10.

We notice your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we must speak to this with love because it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 and there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you have not yet done so, we encourage you to confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, for with the heart one believes resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation Romans 10:9. It is through Jesus alone that our prayers are heard and our sins are forgiven and we are delivered from demonic oppression.

So we pray together now in the mighty name of Jesus.

Father in heaven, we come before Your throne in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. We lift up this household that has been worn down by gossip, false reports, mockery, financial extra bills and invoices, sickness and hospitalization, and the threat of ruin. Lord, You see the spying, the meddling, the distribution of disrespectful images, the lies and confusion over wrong lists and wrong information, and the war of distraction that has been stirred up. We ask You to rebuke every spirit of gossip, slander, lying, slothfulness, envy, malice, sorcery and voyeurism. We declare that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places Ephesians 6:12, and we ask You to put to silence every demonic assignment against this home.

Lord, place a hedge of protection around this house and this family. Heal the sickness and the hospital suffering, for You are near to those who have a broken heart, and save those who have a crushed spirit Psalm 34:18. Provide for every financial need and stop the hand of corruption and increase of price that takes advantage of others. Bring order where there has been disorder, peace where there has been war and confusion, for God is not a God of confusion, but of peace 1 Corinthians 14:33. Convict the gossiping neighbor of sin, bring repentance, and if it is Your will, bring honest employment and a transformed heart that seeks to work quietly and do good, rather than to destroy another's reputation. Help our dear one to not repay evil for evil but to overcome evil with good Romans 12:21, to set wise and godly boundaries, to not be entangled in strife, and to let no corrupt speech proceed out of our mouths, but only what is good for building up as the need may be Ephesians 4:29.

We also pray for deliverance from anxiety and the feeling that death is near. Lord, lift the heaviness and the thought of the cemetery as an escape from suffering, and remind this one that You are our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble Psalm 46:1. Give wisdom whether to involve proper authorities if there is harassment, voyeurism, or bullying, for You have established authorities for our protection, and give courage to document and to distance from gossip without hatred.

We thank You that at one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hating one another Titus 3:3, but You in mercy saved us through Jesus. Let that mercy now be poured out on both the afflicted and the offender, that all might come to repentance. We trust You to defend the reputation of Your child, to restore what has been stolen, and to let truth prevail. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and our peace, amen.

Thank you for letting us know what you have been carrying. Living next to constant gossip, spying and meddling can leave you feeling on edge in your own home, and we hear how much strain this has put on you, with the worry about reputation, confusion and even the extra costs and health stress you mentioned.

We noticed the clarity in what you wrote that you are not God and not meant to carry or fix your neighbors' choices and disorder. That is a healthy and true distinction to hold onto. A helpful way we think about this is as a property line for the heart. It helps us name what is ours to own and protect, our own peace, home, time and choices, and what is not ours to absorb or control, even when others are acting destructively.

When gossip and boundary crossing are ongoing, it can help to keep responses simple and consistent. You might choose one or two quiet boundaries this week, like not engaging with hearsay, keeping interactions brief and neutral, and leaning on a trusted pastor, landlord or mature friend to help you think through what is wise if things escalate. You do not have to explain or defend everything. If the stress is affecting your health, please consider reaching out to a medical professional alongside pastoral support.

Father, we bring our friend before You in Jesus name. We ask for Your protection over their home and reputation, for calm and wisdom in each interaction, and for rest from anxiety and confusion. Guard their heart and give them supportive people nearby. Lead them step by step in Your peace. Amen.

Your cry has been heard before the Lord, and the weight of these trials, the gossip and meddling, the sickness and fear of ruin, the confusion and disorder stirred up by idle hands, has been laid before His throne with prayer.

Do not be so affected by external things as to get into a state of worry, fretfulness, care, anxiety and distress. So speaks our Saviour, and His injunction means, do not be anxious about your temporal affairs. Be prudent, be diligent, and cast your care upon Him who cares for you. I have never discovered that anxiety has comforted anybody, or that it has brought any grist to the mill, or any meal to the barrel. If a thing does not pay, what is the good of it. Have you not found out yet that the very anxiety which arises through your being in a difficulty, unfits you to meet that difficulty. Your anxiety about these neighbours, their spying and tale bearing, their pictures and mockery, their meddling in what is not theirs, will not straighten the confusion, nor pay the bill, nor heal the sick, nor keep you from the grave. But prayer will, and trust will, and a childlike waiting upon Providential guidance will.

You speak truly when you name these works as the Scripture names them. Idolatry, sorcery, hatred, rivalry, jealousy, outbursts of fury, acts of selfishness, dissensions, factions, occasions of envy, as it is written in Galatians 5:20 and 21, those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. And as it is written in Titus 3:3, at one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. There is the root of this gossiping disaster, a heart enslaved, idle and unoccupied, given to voyeurism and meddling, to false witness and distribution of disrespectful things, to sorcery and divination, to taking advantage of another. This the Lord rebukes. We do not wrestle against flesh and blood only, but against the spiritual wickedness that moves men to such disorder. And we pray that the Lord would rebuke that spirit of slander and idleness, of discord and deceit, and bring it to nothing.

You say, we are not God, we are not to defend or to carry what belongs to another. That is wisely spoken. Let everyone look to himself and let no man despise his neighbour. I am certain thou needest no exhortation to love thyself, thine own case will be seen to. But thou art exhorted to love thy neighbour, not to meddle with his house, nor to destroy his reputation, nor to provoke a war of distraction. The idle tongue that has nothing to do but to spy and to sow discord must be put away from among you, and the hands that are idle must be taught to labour honestly.

There is a way of safety, and it is this. He who travels on the King's Highway is under the King's protection, but he who takes to byroads must protect himself. There is also the way of childlike trust in Providential guidance. Happy is that man who always waits upon God to know what he shall do, who asks the Lord to always guide him and who dares not lean upon his own understanding. You will always need Divine and angelic keeping, for God would not have charged His angels to keep His people in all their ways if they did not need protection in all their ways. This protection is perpetual as well as personal. Keep then in the appointed ways of truth and holiness and honesty, and grapple the truths of God to you as with hooks of steel, for if you go in the way of error, you cannot expect Divine protection.

And when slander is the rod under which you are to smart, remember that many have felt it before you, and you need not complain as if a strange thing had happened to you. Do not cry, Not so, Lord, but let the Lord appoint you care or calumny, sickness or slander, for He knows best. He can make even Satan himself provide the bodyguard for His faithful servant's journey, and He can turn the hospital bed and the unpaid bill and the threat of ruin into a pulpit from which His mercy shall be proclaimed.

Let us pray together.

O Lord our God, rebuke the spirit of gossip and slander, of idleness and meddling, of sorcery and deceit, which brings confusion and discord and would destroy reputation and peace. Put to silence the tongue that devises mischief and the eye that pries into another man's house. Convict those who live in malice and envy, that they may repent and turn from their evil way and find forgiveness through Jesus Christ alone, for there is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved. Give to those who suffer from this war of words a quiet spirit and a prudent mind, that they may not be consumed with anxiety but may cast all their care upon Thee. Provide for those without work, that they may labour with their own hands and have to give to him that needeth. Heal the sick and raise up those in hospitalization, comfort those who fear the grave, and deliver from ruin and from the extra burden of unjust cost. Let no weapon formed against Thy people prosper, and let every tongue that rises in judgment be condemned. Keep Thy people in all their ways, under the shadow of Thy wing and under the charge of Thine angels, and lead them in the King's Highway until Thou bringest them home. This we ask in the name of Jesus Christ our only hope and righteousness. Amen.

Take heed to walk uprightly, to speak truthfully, to labour faithfully, and to leave vengeance in the hands of God, who will weigh all men and their works in His just balances.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your distress over this conflict with your neighbor has been heard, and I understand how heavy this burden feels when gossip, meddling, idleness and disorder seem to bring ruin into your home, your health, your finances and your peace.

Scripture warns plainly about what you describe. The works you named from Galatians 5:20 and 21, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, rivalry, jealousy, outbursts of fury, selfishness, dissensions, factions, envy and the like, are not empty words. Those who live in them will not inherit the kingdom of God. Titus 3:3 also reminds us that at one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by passions and pleasures, living in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. This is the spirit that drives gossip and strife. We bite and devour one another by wronging, accusing and slandering, and we become vexed by the standing of our neighbors.

You are right to want this rebuked. A good name is better than great riches, and to injure the reputation of a neighbor is a serious unrighteousness. When a person wishes to undermine another, he often says, such a one said this, God forgive me, do not hold me to account for what I have heard. But why speak it at all if you do not believe it, why make a false story credible by repeating it. We are called to shade over and conceal the failings of neighbors, not to parade them or to pass on what is not true. Even if what is said were true, we will be judged by our own words, for by your words you will be condemned. To speak evil, even inwardly, brings judgment. And as it is written, he who digs a pit for his neighbor falls into it himself. When we plot against others we injure ourselves before God, and when we do good to them we benefit our own souls.

You also describe idleness that turns to spying, meddling in another house, distributing information with disrespectful pictures, mockery, voyeurism, false meetings and divination. This comes from having nothing wholesome to do, and time given to destruction. The Lord calls us to flee from idolatry and sorcery and from all works of darkness, not to use them against others and not to return evil for evil. You are not God, nor are you an agency to carry the disorder and anxiety of another household, and you are not required to defend or protect what is demanding and miserable. Your calling is different. You are called to love the Lord your God and to love your neighbor as yourself, for on these hang all the law and the prophets. That love does not mean you affirm what is wrong or take responsibility for another person's ruin, but it does mean you do not repay harm with harm. If your enemy harms you, do not requite him with the same, but do him good as you are able, and so you will benefit your own soul and leave vengeance to God.

Prayer is a great good and a safeguard for the soul, but it is powerful when we also do what is worthy of it. The merciful will obtain mercy, but judgment without mercy will be shown to those who have shown no mercy.

Let us pray together.

Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, your Son, through whom alone is salvation, I ask for mercy for this household that is wearied by gossip, confusion, fighting, sickness and financial burden. Rebuke the spirit of slander, envy, strife, idleness, meddling and sorcery. Silence the tongue that devours reputation and sows discord, and bring that neighbor to repentance and to honest work. Heal the sickness and the distress that has led toward hospitalization, provide for the unemployment and the unpaid bills, and protect this home from ruin and disgrace. Grant wisdom to set proper boundaries, to keep silence rather than repeat what is false, to not dig a pit for another, and to walk in peace. Teach us to show mercy that we may obtain mercy, to love our neighbors without sharing in their sin, and to trust you and not be consumed by anxiety. Guard this family from distraction, disorder and delay, and let your peace rule where there has been war of words. In Jesus name, Amen.

Remain steadfast in quiet faithfulness, keep your door and your tongue guarded, do your own work diligently, and do not carry what God has not given you to carry. If the meddling or harassment continues or threatens safety, seek wise and lawful help, and continue to entrust both yourself and your neighbor to the Lord who sees and judges justly.

The distress you have described is heard, and the weight of living under constant spying, meddling, gossip and mockery is real. When a neighbor uses idle time to distribute disrespectful images, to spread false information, to create discord and to damage a reputation, it brings confusion, anxiety, financial strain and even sickness into a home. It is right to bring this before the Lord and to ask Him to rebuke what is evil and to establish what is good.

Scripture names these things plainly. In Galatians 5 the works of the flesh include idolatry, sorcery, hatred, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissensions and factions, and those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. In Titus 3 we are reminded that we ourselves once lived in malice and envy, hating and being hated, enslaved by passions. In Jeremiah we are warned to take heed concerning a neighbor, for every neighbor will walk with slander, deceiving with the tongue, speaking peace with the mouth while the heart lies in wait, and the Lord asks, shall I not visit for these things. Gossip, laziness that turns to destructive meddling, voyeurism, the use of divination or sorcery, and the desire to take advantage through corruption and falsehood are not small faults. They are enmity against God and against people.

True peace cannot be spoken over a life that is at war with God. To say peace, peace when there is no peace heals a hurt only slightly. There is no peace for the wicked, who are like a troubled sea. Peace must begin with peace with God, and that peace is only through Jesus Christ. He Himself is our peace. In His flesh He abolished the enmity and broke down the wall that separated us, making of two one new man, so making peace. By the cross He reconciled us to God in one body, having slain the enmity there, and He came and preached peace to those who were far off and to those who were near. Through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father, having made peace through His blood. When you turn to Christ and receive forgiveness, the war with God ends.

Then there is the peace of God that keeps the heart and mind. You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You. This is the peace that passes human understanding, the peace Jesus left with His own. In a world filled with chaos, turmoil and strife, that peace comes as the mind is turned toward Him in trust. Even in times of hardship, when you are learning to trust God for the evening meal and it feels you are almost broke, He proves Himself faithful to care for you. He does not promise that every bill or delay or missing delivery will vanish at once, but He does promise to keep and to provide as you stay your mind on Him.

The wisdom that is from above is peaceable, and the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God. If you sow peace, you will reap the fruit of righteousness. That does not mean you accept abuse or pretend that wrong is right. It means you do not return slander for slander or mockery for mockery. You commit your reputation, your household, your health and your finances to the Lord, who judges righteously, condemning the wicked and justifying the righteous, bringing each person's way upon his own head. Do not say to your neighbor tomorrow when you can do good today, but also do not take upon yourself what belongs to God. You are not God, you are not required to defend or carry the ruin that others create. The Lord is your defender.

Let us pray together.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, we ask You to rebuke the spirit of gossip, slander, idleness, meddling, voyeurism, deceit, sorcery and discord that has brought confusion, bullying, financial burden, sickness and anxiety. We ask You to silence the lying tongue, to stop the distribution of disrespectful images and false information, to expose corruption and to bring order where there has been disorder and delay. We ask for Your protection over this home, over reputation, over deliveries and provision, over health, and we ask for healing where hospitalization and suffering have come. We do not ask from a demand that You must heal all sickness in this moment, for not every person is healed as we desire and it is wrong to say suffering is always from lack of faith or hidden sin, but we do bring the sick before You as the early church did, asking for Your mercy and Your touch according to Your will, and for grace to endure with peace.

Grant peace with You through the blood of Jesus to all who will receive it, and grant the peace of God to keep heart and mind. Teach this dear one to keep the mind stayed on You and to sow peace rather than strife, trusting You to be the judge and the provider. Let Your grace, mercy and peace be upon this household, and let Your healing come to those far off and to those near who call upon You. In Jesus name, Amen.

Continue to walk in truth, to guard your tongue and your heart, to pray for those who mistreat you without joining their ways, and to trust the Lord daily for His care. He is your peace.
