Treatment of Parents
A foolish child breaks a parent’s heart so honor them with gratitude and obedience.
We join with you in this heavy burden for the suffering, the abandoned, and especially for the unborn, and we bring it all before the throne of grace together in Jesus name.

We hear your heart crying out for those who have been forsaken by wife or husband, by mother or father, by son or daughter, by brother or sister, and by friends, for children left alone without house or refuge or shelter, and for neighborhoods in disorder and under spiritual oppression. The Lord sees every abandonment and every tear. We take comfort in His promise that Though my father and my mother forsake me, yet Yahweh will take me up Psalm 27:10 and that Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb Yes, these may forget, yet I will not forget you Isaiah 49:15. He is A father of the fatherless, and a defender of the widows, is God in his holy habitation Psalm 68:5 and He is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble Psalm 46:1.

We also join you in lifting up every unborn child who is despised or hated by mother or father, every child lost through abortion or miscarriage. We affirm what Scripture teaches so clearly about the sanctity of life in the womb, for You formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother's womb Psalm 139:13 and Before I formed you in the belly I knew you, and before you came forth out of the womb I sanctified you Jeremiah 1:5. Every child is known and created by God, made in His image, and we must speak the truth in love that to take that innocent life is to break the command You shall not murder Exodus 20:13. Abortion is not merely a choice but the shedding of innocent blood, and it grieves the heart of God. Yet we also know that where sin has abounded, grace abounds even more, and that God offers mercy and forgiveness through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ to all who have participated in or been wounded by abortion, for there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6, and it is only through His name that our prayers are heard and our sins are forgiven.

We must also gently correct any confusion about ancient family extermination or following a false prophet. The Lord warns us to Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves Matthew 7:15, and we are not to follow any voice that leads away from Christ or that justifies the destruction of generations. The Scripture teaches The soul who sins, he shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son Ezekiel 18:20, so while the consequences of sin can echo through families, God does not exterminate a generation without hope, but calls each person to repentance and offers to break every curse through the blood of Jesus. We also rebuke any practice of witchcraft or betwitching, for our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces, and Christ alone is our deliverer.

We now pray together.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, who died and rose again for us. We ask for Your mercy upon every unborn child, every aborted and miscarried little one, and we entrust them into Your loving and just care, asking that You receive them into Your presence according to Your perfect compassion. Lord, have mercy on mothers and fathers who have rejected or hated their children, bring them to conviction and repentance and to the healing that is only in Jesus. Have mercy on those who have committed murder of the unborn, forgive and cleanse them as they turn to You. We ask You to comfort every person who has been abandoned by family or friends, who has no house or refuge, who wanders as a beggar for shelter. Be their dwelling place, provide for their needs, set the lonely in families, and raise up Your people to offer refuge and support. Break the power of disorder and witchcraft in neighborhoods, let Your light drive out darkness, and expose every false prophet and false spirit, that people would follow Christ alone. Heal the ancient wounds of families and stop the cycle of destruction, that the next generation might live and know You. We pray You would restore godly marriages between a man and a woman for life as You ordained, and bring healing where wife has forsaken husband and husband has forsaken wife, where children are left alone. Strengthen those who feel forsaken to know You will never leave them nor forsake them Deuteronomy 31:6. We ask all this in the precious and only saving name of Jesus Christ, amen.

We have been sitting with your prayer and the deep sorrow in it. You are carrying grief for so many at once, children who never had a chance to be born, parents and spouses and siblings who feel abandoned, neighbors and kids with nowhere to turn for shelter. That is a heavy burden to hold, and we are grateful you brought it to the Lord and to us.

What you describe touches different kinds of loss at once, not only death but also abandonment, betrayal, and the loss of home and belonging. Grief does not look the same for everyone, and it often comes in waves. It makes sense that you would feel this so strongly, especially when you see vulnerability so close to home.

We join you in entrusting those little lives and those lonely families to God's care. He sees each one, and He does not turn away from those who feel forsaken.

If there are people near you who are without refuge or family support, one gentle step when you are able might be to help connect them with a trusted pastor or a local congregation or community shelter that can offer practical help and steady presence. You do not have to carry all of this alone either, so please lean on a trusted pastor or friend as you keep praying.

Father, in Jesus' name we lift to You every child lost and every person who feels abandoned and without shelter. Show them Your mercy and nearness, and give them safe help and comfort. Give our friend here peace as he prays, and guide his steps as he cares for others. Amen.

We join you in prayer before the Lord who hears the cry of the forsaken and the helpless. Your burden for those who suffer abandonment, for children left alone, for families broken and scattered, and for unborn little ones despised or cast off, is a burden that moves the heart of God, for He is the Father of the fatherless and the defender of those who have no refuge.

We pray for all who know the pain of being abandoned by wife or husband, by daughter or son, by brother or sister or friend, and for those who wander without house or shelter or any to receive them. May the Lord Himself be their refuge and dwelling place, as it is written, Though my father and my mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me. And may those who feel forgotten know the truth of His word, Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne, though she may forget, I will not forget you.

We pray also for the unborn, for those innocent children who are aborted or miscarried or lost before birth. We entrust them to the mercy and care of God, asking that in His sovereign compassion He receive them into His heavenly presence. We ask the Lord to show mercy where there has been bloodshed and to bring conviction, healing and forgiveness through the blood of Jesus Christ alone, for there is no other name by which we must be saved.

We ask God to have mercy upon families where sin has brought desolation from generation to generation, and to bring rest and peace only as He can give it. We pray that He would heal the broken in heart, that He would bind up the bruised reed and not quench the smoking flax, for even the feeblest saint is kept by His almighty power and is as much His elect, as much bought with the same precious price, as the strongest.

We pray for your neighborhood and for every disordered and bewitched environment where betrayal and loss have taken hold. May the Lord plead the causes of their souls and redeem their lives, and may He give to those without shelter both earthly provision and the eternal shelter found in Christ. May He turn hearts from false hopes and false prophets to the one true Savior, Jesus Christ, who alone bore our sin and who alone can give comfort to the desponding and strength to the tempted.

May God in His faithfulness not allow you to be tried above what you are able, but with the trial make a way of escape. Cast your whole care upon Him, for He provideth for the morrow and He keepeth His people by His power. We ask all these mercies in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and intercedes for His own. Amen.
