We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up the deep pain of abandonment, loss, and the tragic reality of lives ended before they could even begin. The cry for mercy on behalf of the unborn, the abandoned, and the brokenhearted rises to heaven, and we join our voices with yours, standing in the gap for those who have no one else to plead for them.
The Lord sees every child formed in secret, every life snuffed out by the violence of abortion, and every soul left desolate by abandonment. Scripture declares, *"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart"* (Jeremiah 1:5). These little ones, though their earthly lives were cut short, are not forgotten by God. We trust in His perfect justice and mercy, knowing that He welcomes the innocent into His presence. As Jesus said, *"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these"* (Matthew 19:14).
For those suffering the agony of abandonment—whether by parents, spouses, children, or friends—we declare that God has not forsaken you. Even if every earthly refuge fails, the Lord remains a stronghold. *"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit"* (Psalm 34:18). You are not alone, though you may feel utterly deserted. The Father’s love is deeper than any human betrayal, and His presence is a shelter no storm can destroy.
We must also confront the grievous sin of abortion, which has brought so much death and devastation. The shedding of innocent blood is an abomination to the Lord (Proverbs 6:17), and we mourn the millions of lives lost to this evil. Yet even here, there is hope in repentance and redemption. If anyone reading this has been involved in abortion—whether as a mother, father, or participant—know that God’s grace is greater than all sin. *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"* (1 John 1:9). There is healing in Christ for the broken, restoration for the repentant, and peace for the wounded.
For those without homes, without family, without even a friend to turn to, we cry out for God’s provision. The Lord is the defender of the fatherless and the widow (Psalm 68:5), and He commands His people to show compassion to the needy. *"Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed"* (Proverbs 19:17). We pray that the body of Christ would rise up to be the hands and feet of Jesus, offering shelter, love, and hope to those who have been cast aside.
And to those who feel they have nowhere to turn, we say: Look to Jesus. He was despised and rejected, acquainted with grief (Isaiah 53:3), yet He laid down His life so that you might be reconciled to God. There is no abandonment in Him, no betrayal, no loneliness that He cannot heal. *"Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest"* (Matthew 11:28).
Let us pray:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with weeping hearts, interceding for the unborn whose lives were taken, for the abandoned who feel forgotten, and for the broken who have no refuge. Lord, we trust in Your justice and mercy. Receive the little ones into Your arms, and comfort those who mourn their loss. For those left behind, abandoned by those who should have loved them, be their Father, their Friend, their Shelter. Break the chains of despair and fill their hearts with the hope of Christ.
We repent for the sin of abortion in our land and in our world. Forgive us, Lord, and turn the hearts of mothers and fathers toward life. Heal those who have been wounded by this evil, and restore what has been lost. Raise up godly families, churches, and communities to stand for the defenseless and care for the needy.
For those without homes or loved ones, provide for their needs and surround them with Your people. Let them know they are seen, valued, and deeply loved by You. And for all of us, draw us closer to Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith, in whose name we pray. Amen.
