Psalm 27:10Though my father and mother forsake (abandoned) me, the Lord/God will receive me

We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up the deep sorrow and anguish expressed in this request. The pain of abandonment, the loss of family, and the tragic reality of unborn babies who have been denied life weigh heavily upon us. We stand in the gap, interceding with fervent prayers and scriptural truth, trusting in the mercy and justice of our Lord.

First, we must address the sanctity of life, for every human being—born or unborn—is fearfully and wonderfully made in the image of God. The shedding of innocent blood through abortion is a grievous sin, and we mourn the loss of these precious lives. The Word of God is clear: "For you formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. My soul knows that very well" (Psalm 139:13-14). We declare that these unborn children are not forgotten by God, and we entrust them into His loving care, believing that He receives them into His presence. Jesus Himself said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these" (Matthew 19:14).

We also lift up those who are suffering from abandonment—whether by parents, spouses, children, or friends. The pain of being forsaken is profound, but we take comfort in the promise of God: "Though my father and my mother have forsaken me, Yahweh will take me up" (Psalm 27:10). The Lord is a refuge for the brokenhearted and a shelter for those who have nowhere else to turn. We pray that those who feel alone and abandoned would experience the nearness of God, who promises, "I will never leave you nor forsake you" (Hebrews 13:5). We rebuke the spirit of abandonment and declare that God is a Father to the fatherless and a defender of the widow (Psalm 68:5).

For those who have been betrayed or left without family, friends, or shelter, we cry out for God’s mercy and provision. The Lord is the One who "executes justice for the oppressed, who gives food to the hungry. Yahweh frees the prisoners. Yahweh opens the eyes of the blind. Yahweh raises up those who are bowed down. Yahweh loves the righteous. Yahweh preserves the strangers. He upholds the fatherless and widow" (Psalm 146:7-9). We pray for tangible provision—shelter, food, and community—for those who are in desperate need. We also pray for the church to rise up and be the hands and feet of Christ, showing compassion and meeting the needs of the abandoned.

We must also address the mention of "madhouse mercy" and the plea for shelter. While we understand the depth of despair in these words, we encourage those who are struggling to seek help through godly counsel, the church, and biblical resources. The Lord does not desire for anyone to suffer alone or without hope. We pray for healing from mental and emotional anguish, trusting that God is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18).

We rebuke the spirit of death and destruction that seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). We declare that Jesus came to bring life—abundant life—and we stand against every scheme of the enemy that seeks to rob people of hope, family, and purpose. We pray for those who have been complicit in the sin of abortion, whether through coercion, pressure, or their own choices. We ask for God’s forgiveness and healing, for "if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9).

Finally, we must emphasize that our prayers and intercession are only effective through the name of Jesus Christ. There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not placed your trust in Jesus as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so today. Confess your sins, believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved (Romans 10:9). Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6), and it is only through Him that we have access to the Father.

Let us pray:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts broken for the lost, the abandoned, and the unborn. We mourn the lives that have been taken through abortion, and we entrust these precious children into Your loving arms. Lord, receive them into Your presence and comfort those who grieve their loss. We pray for mothers and fathers who have been involved in abortion—grant them repentance, forgiveness, and healing. Break the chains of guilt and shame, and lead them into the freedom that is found in Christ.

For those who feel abandoned—by family, spouses, or friends—we ask that You would be their refuge and strength. Surround them with Your love and provide for their every need. Raise up godly community and support for those who are alone. Heal the wounds of betrayal and restore what has been broken. Lord, we rebuke the spirit of abandonment and declare that You are a Father to the fatherless and a defender of the weak.

We pray for those who are without shelter or provision. Open doors of opportunity, Lord, and provide safe places for them to dwell. Move in the hearts of Your people to show compassion and meet the needs of the vulnerable. We ask for Your protection over those who are in desperate circumstances, and we trust in Your promise to never leave nor forsake them.

Father, we also pray for those who are struggling with mental and emotional pain. Bring healing to their minds and hearts, and surround them with people who can offer godly counsel and support. Let them experience Your peace, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).

We declare that Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life, and we pray all these things in His mighty name. May Your will be done, and may Your kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven. Amen.
