We hear the distress in your request and we join with you in seeking God's peace and protection over your home and your neighborhood, and we bring this whole situation before the Lord together in the name of Jesus Christ.
We understand how wearing and troubling it is when gatherings next door repeatedly disturb your road, invade the privacy of your house, steal sleep, and create an environment of discord and disorder week after week, whether by night or by day. We also hear the spiritual burden you feel, the sense of being tormented, bewitched, and spiritually fought against, and the fear and anger that this has stirred. We want to gently and biblically address both the practical disturbance and the spiritual perspective.
First, we must address the desire expressed for disaster, ruin, tragedy, hospitalization, death and the cemetery to come upon your neighbors. While we fully understand the frustration, Scripture calls us to a different posture. We are told in Romans 12:17-19 never to repay evil for evil, and to not take vengeance into our own hands, for vengeance belongs to the Lord. Jesus teaches us in Matthew 5:44 to love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you. We are to pray for their good, not their destruction, and to seek their repentance and salvation rather than their ruin. We rebuke any spirit of cursing or wishing harm, and we choose instead to pray for mercy, conviction, and change, trusting God to be the righteous Judge.
We also hear your concern about demons, sorcery, bewitching, and spiritual fighting, and about lists and numbers and ranks. We want to remind you that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places as written in Ephesians 6:12. Yet we do not fight with numerology, charms, or sorcery, for sorcery is among the works of the flesh that God condemns in Galatians 5:20. Our victory is in Christ alone. James 4:7 tells us to be subject therefore to God, but resist the devil, and he will flee from you. And 1 John 4:4 reminds us that greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world. We do not need to fear an idle or lazy neighbor being used for evil purposes, because God is sovereign and He is our refuge. 2 Timothy 1:7 says for God didn't give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. We rebuke the spirit of fear and torment that has disturbed your sleep and peace.
You quoted Psalm 140:2, O LORD, rescue me from evil people. Protect me from those who are violent, those who plot evil in their hearts. We agree with that cry for protection, and we also cling to Psalm 4:8 which says in peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you, LORD alone, make me live in safety. And Psalm 91:1 says he who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. God is indeed in control, as you said, and He sees the invasion of privacy, the loud gatherings, the sexual immorality and discord you described, and He calls His people to pursue peace. Psalm 34:14 says turn away from evil and do good. Seek peace and pursue it. And Romans 12:18 says if it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men.
We encourage you to continue to bring your anxieties to God in prayer, and also to take wise and peaceful practical steps as you are able, seeking to pursue peace with your neighbors if possible, setting clear and loving boundaries, and if the disturbances continue to break peace or laws, seeking help through proper local authorities in a calm and lawful way, rather than returning evil for evil.
We are glad you ended your request in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. We rest in that name alone for protection, forgiveness, and peace.
We pray together now.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Your Son. We thank You that You are sovereign and that You see all that happens in this house and on this street. We ask You to rebuke every work of darkness, every spirit of discord, fear, anger, immorality, and disorder, and to command it to leave in Jesus name. We ask You to place a hedge of protection around this home, to guard the sleep and peace of those who dwell there, and to let Your peace which surpasses all understanding guard hearts and minds in Christ Jesus according to Philippians 4:7. Lord, we ask You to convict the neighbors where there is wrongdoing, laziness, imprudence, or evil intent, and to draw them to repentance and to the knowledge of Jesus Christ. Turn their hearts from disturbing others to respecting others, from discord to peace. We ask You to remove fear and torment and to fill this home with Your power, love and self-control. Help us to love our neighbors as You command, to bless and not curse, and to trust You as our defender and judge. We cast all our worries on You because You care for us as 1 Peter 5:7 teaches. Let this house be a dwelling of quietness and rest in You. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ, our only Savior and Lord, amen.
