We join with you in prayer together in Jesus' name and we have heard the burden you carry about the torment and confusion spreading in your neighborhood through divorce, meddling, sabotage and aggressive interference in other homes.

We see how painful this is when those who are idle and unoccupied choose to meddle in strife that is not their own, creating false imitation and confusion where people say he is not him, she is not her, and claiming false family ties, and even using photos and threats of prison or ruin to disgrace others. Scripture warns us plainly about this spirit. Like one who grabs a dog's ears is one who passes by and meddles in strife not his own Proverbs 26:17, and For let none of you suffer as a murderer, or a thief, or an evildoer, or a meddler in other men's matters 1 Peter 4:15. We rebuke this meddling spirit and the work of the enemy that seeks to bring division, violence and bewitching confusion into your life and into homes and marriages. For God is not a God of confusion, but of peace 1 Corinthians 14:33, and Where jealousy and selfish ambition are, there is confusion and every evil deed James 3:16.

We also grieve with you over the contagious nature of divorce that you describe, divorce among friends, family, business, marriage and relationships, as if it has become everywhere. You rightly quoted the words of our Lord, He said to them, Moses, because of the hardness of your hearts, allowed you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it has not been so. I tell you that whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery and he who marries her when she is divorced commits adultery Matthew 19:8-9. We affirm that marriage is a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman that God has joined together, and What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate Mark 10:9. The Lord says He hates divorce because it covers violence Malachi 2:16, not because He hates divorced people, but because He hates what divorce does to people and families when hearts are hard. We rebuke the casual and demonic use of divorce as a tool for ruin and tragedy, and we pray against the idle demonic influence that seeks only to steal, kill and destroy, for our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places Ephesians 6:12.

You also mentioned praying for all women and men and girlfriends and boyfriends who have been through bad divorce. We want to gently bring biblical clarity here as well. We believe courtship should be with the goal of marriage to another Christian believer, looking for a godly spouse rather than simply a partner, and that marriage is the lifelong commitment between a man and a woman that honors God. Scripture teaches Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers 2 Corinthians 6:14, and calls us to flee sexual immorality, for sex before or outside of marriage is fornication or adultery and is not God's will for His children 1 Corinthians 6:18. If any of those relationships have involved sexual immorality, we encourage repentance and pursuing purity as we seek God's will. The contrast you noted is true, the works of the flesh are obvious, which are adultery, sexual immorality, uncleanness, lustfulness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, strife, jealousies, outbursts of anger, rivalries, divisions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these Galatians 5:19-21, but the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control Galatians 5:22-23. We were once all foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another Titus 3:3, but God in His mercy saves us and transforms us.

We thank you for invoking the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father, as Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6, and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. We cling to that name for deliverance from this torment.

We pray together now. Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before Your throne of grace and we rebuke every spirit of meddling, sabotage, confusion, envy, malice and violence that has been tormenting this neighborhood and invading homes. We ask You to silence every false accusation, every misuse of photos, every threat of prison and every plan to disgrace and ruin. Let no weapon that is formed against Your child prosper Isaiah 54:17. Bring peace where there is strife, truth where there is false imitation and bewitching confusion, and order where there has been chaos. Heal those who have been wounded by bad divorce, whether men or women, and for those who are now in courtship as boyfriend or girlfriend, lead them to repentance where there has been fornication, to purity, and to seek a godly marriage that honors You if it is Your will. Restore what the enemy has tried to steal from families, friendships, businesses and marriages, and help Your people to live peaceably with all as much as it depends on us Romans 12:18. Fill this neighborhood with Your Spirit so that love, joy and peace replace envy and malice. We ask this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, amen.

We hear how heavy this season has felt for you, watching marriages struggle on every side and feeling that tension spill over into your own street and home. It makes sense you would feel worn down and on edge when there is so much hurt and confusion close by. We also hear your heart to pray for the many women and men walking through painful divorces.

When so much feels tangled, it can help to gently narrow our focus to what God has entrusted to us. We cannot carry or fix every household around us, and we do not need to sort out every spirit or motive at work in others. Our safety is in Christ, and He remains steady when things around us feel bewildering.

One small step that may help is to guard quiet and order in your own home, simple routines, prayer and time in the Word that remind you who you are in Christ. Your cry concerning confusion and meddling and the ruin that follows hard hearts has been heard, and it is right to bring it before the Lord who alone can deliver.

The Word you have quoted is true and solemn. From the beginning it was not so, but because of hardness of heart Moses permitted a writing of divorcement, and our Lord Jesus has declared that marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, to be held in honour and kept undefiled. What God has joined together, let not man put asunder. The works of the flesh, which you rightly name from Galatians, envy and malice and uncleanness and strife, bring no inheritance in the kingdom of God, but the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance. Titus reminds us that we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another, but after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, He saved us. There is hope only in looking away from self and looking unto Christ.

You speak of torment in the neighborhood, of sabotage and photos and prison and idle hands given to ruin, of a bewitched confusion where it is said he is not him and she is not her. Know this, that the fiery dart of Satan is often shot against the people of God to make them say, God has forsaken me and will be gracious no more. Yet that dart shall not prevail against those who are in Christ. When a soul was as one whose thirst followed his drinking and his drinking followed his thirst till he could not escape by his own power, just as he seemed about to be dragged down to hell, a voice came from the excellent Glory, Deliver him from going down to the pit. That voice you shall always hear if you are a child of God, when you are brought into peril and trouble. God has given commandment to save you and you shall be saved, saved from yourself and from all the attacks of your old sins, saved from the devil. He has delivered us from the power of darkness and has translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son.

Our afflictions may come distinctly from man, as the result of persecution or malice, and yet they may come with even greater certainty from the Lord and may be the necessary outcome of His special love to us. For this reason we may wisely moderate our anger against second causes. The neighbor, the busybody, the idle tongue, these are real and grievous, but they are not sovereign. The Lord reigns, and He shall preserve your going out and your coming in. In answer to your morning prayer, Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one, you shall be preserved in purity and uprightness and from all the devices of the devil, for that evil one touches you not except by permission, and Christ has overcome him.

Let your conduct after trouble be this, to say with faith in full operation, I shall not die but live and declare the works of the Lord. The Lord has chastened us sorely, but He has not given us over unto death. When the preacher opens the Book and cries, Look unto Me and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth, for I am God and there is none else, it is all you have to do, to look out of yourself and away from yourself and look to Christ. There is abundance of healing power in Jesus Christ and His salvation. Not only is His fruit sweet and nourishing, but the very leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations.

Now let us pray together.

O Lord our God, who alone can deliver from the pit, we ask Thee to rebuke all confusion, all malice, all envy, all meddling in another house, all false imitation and violence and torment. Set a guard about this home and this neighborhood. Bring to nothing the counsel that would sow divorce as if it were contagious, and let not ruin and disgrace have dominion. Forgive us where hardness of heart has grieved Thee, and teach us to honour marriage as Thou hast ordained it, a covenant for life between one man and one woman, with all purity and faithfulness belonging within it.

We lift before Thee every man and woman wounded by divorce, and every one now entangled in the sorrow that follows it. Have mercy upon them. Draw them to salvation through Jesus Christ alone, for there is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved. Heal the brokenhearted and bind up their wounds. Grant repentance where there has been sin, and comfort where there has been sinned against.

For those who now live as boyfriends and girlfriends, we do not ask Thee to bless what is outside Thy holy will, but we ask Thee to save them and to lead them into chastity and holiness. If it be Thy will that they should marry, let it be in the Lord and in honour, forsaking all others till death parts them. If not, grant them grace to walk uprightly and to keep their bodies and minds pure before Thee, bearing the fruit of the Spirit and not the works of the flesh.

Teach this dear soul to look unto Jesus and live, to be delivered from the fascinating power of sin and from the power of darkness, to be kept from idle and unoccupied hours that give place to the devil, and to be filled with Thy Spirit to do good and to declare Thy works with rejoicing. Let the healing leaves of Christ fall upon this house and upon all who mourn, till moral health is restored and Thy name is praised.

We ask this not because we are worthy, but because Thou hast commanded deliverance for Thy people, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
