Neighbor’s divorce aggressive imprudent in other house meddling abuse almost done prison all with it sabotage

Your prayer has been heard and I have taken your sorrow to heart, for you describe a house and a neighborhood full of torment, meddling, confusion and the ruin that follows when marriage is broken.

Scripture speaks clearly about this. From the beginning God made marriage to be a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and our Lord said that Moses permitted divorce because hearts were hard, but it was not this way from the beginning, and that to divorce and marry another apart from sexual immorality is to commit adultery. This is not said to crush those who have suffered, but to show how holy and weighty marriage is, and how much we need mercy. Salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, and when we come to Him in repentance He is able to forgive and to make us new. For those who are living together outside of marriage, or in relationships of boyfriend and girlfriend that involve sexual intimacy, we do not ask God to bless that way of living, but we pray that each person would turn to Christ, receive forgiveness, and walk in purity, whether that means pursuing marriage rightly or living chastely before God.

You speak also of divorce spreading like a contagion among friends, family, business and marriages, and of idle hands bringing ruin and disgrace. This is the peril of the last days that the apostle warned of, when people become careless of their neighbor and therefore careless of themselves. For we are members of one another, and when one part suffers the whole body feels it. To bite and devour one another with wronging, accusing and slander, to carry a tale from house to house and say such a one said this, even while asking God not to hold us to account, only spreads the wound. And when we do not attend to our own calling before God, we easily become busybodies in the affairs of others, and that meddling is a great sign of disorder. It creates the very confusion you name, where nothing is seen clearly, where it is said he is not him and she is not her, and the mind becomes turbid and mistakes what is before it. Such confusion does not come from God, and it opens the door to violence and torment.

You also name demons and bewitched confusion and sabotage that seems to imprison and abuse. The works of the flesh are plain, as Paul lists them, envy, drunkenness, malice, hatred and the like, and those who practice them will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control. We were once foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by passions, living in malice and envy, hated and hating one another, and we need deliverance that only Christ can give. The man who gives himself over to rage and impurity is not different from one who has lost his senses, and he makes his own soul a polluted place. Therefore we must rebuke all works of darkness and turn from them.

There is a short and easy way of deliverance that God has given, and it is to forgive. It is not a great toil to forgive the one who has grieved us. Rather it is a toil to keep enmity. To be freed from anger brings great refreshment, and it requires no long journey or great expense, only a willing heart. If we wish to obtain mercy from God, we must first show mercy to our neighbor, for blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy, and judgment without mercy will be shown to him who has shown no mercy. To love God is to love our neighbor and to keep His commandments, and on this hangs all the law and the prophets. And at times we need to withdraw a little from the tumults and confusion of common life, to seek quiet times and places for prayer, that we may come near to God with a clear mind.

So I pray for you and for your neighborhood now. I pray that the Lord Jesus Christ would rebuke every tormenting and confusing spirit, every work of sabotage, abuse and violence, and bring it to nothing. I pray that He would guard your house from meddling and false imitation, and set a wall of peace around you. I pray for those who are imprisoned, whether in a literal prison or in the prison of hatred and strife, that God would bring justice, protection and repentance. I pray for every woman and man who has passed through a bitter divorce or is suffering now, that God would heal their wounds, grant repentance where there has been sin, grant comfort where there has been sinned against, and lead them to walk in holiness and truth. For those who are not married but living as if they were, I pray that God would grant them conviction and grace to turn from sexual sin and to honor marriage as God ordained. I pray that instead of idle ruin and gossip, God would give honest work, sober minds, and love that seeks not only its own good but the good of the neighbor, to build up and not to tear down. May the Lord give you a willing heart to forgive, a mouth that keeps silence rather than spreading what is not true, and a life that shows mercy, that you may obtain mercy. Amen.

The heaviness and confusion you are feeling in your neighborhood is real, and God sees the torment that comes when a home nearby is being torn apart by an aggressive and imprudent divorce, with meddling, abuse and sabotage spilling over into other homes.

Scripture often uses Babylon as a picture of confusion. When men in rebellion tried to build a tower to reach the heavens on their own terms, God confused their language so they could no longer understand one another and they scattered. That confusion has become a symbol in the Bible for what happens when people turn from God's order and try to establish their own way, whether in civil life or in religion. Where God establishes order there is peace, but where man takes over and does what is right in his own eyes, confusion follows. You described it well as contagious, spreading from house to house, from family to friends to business to marriage. When everyone does what seems right to himself, the result is not freedom but ruin and disgrace.

God's design for marriage from the beginning was not this. As Jesus taught in Matthew 19, Moses permitted divorce because of hardness of heart, but it was not so from the beginning, and Jesus said that to divorce except for sexual immorality and marry another is to commit adultery. The law in Deuteronomy shows how seriously God takes the covenant of marriage, and it was never meant to be treated lightly or used as a weapon. The works of the flesh described in Galatians 5, which include envy, strife, hatred and impurity, lead only to destruction and keep people from inheriting the kingdom of God, while the fruit of the Spirit brings love, peace and self control. Titus 3 reminds us that we ourselves were once foolish, deceived and enslaved by passions, living in malice and envy, hating and being hated, before God in His mercy saved us through Jesus Christ. That is the only hope for anyone caught in this cycle.

You also spoke of meddling in another house, false imitation and bewitched confusion that feels violent and tormenting. The Bible warns to take heed with neighbors when trust has broken down, because when society decays every neighbor can walk with slander, deceiving with the mouth while speaking peace but harboring harm in the heart. A false witness against a neighbor is like a sharp weapon, and confidence in an unfaithful person in a time of trouble is like a broken tooth. Love, by contrast, works no ill to its neighbor. Jesus summed up all the law and prophets in two commands, to love God supremely with the vertical axis of your life, and to love your neighbor as yourself. That does not mean you must first learn to love yourself, you already care for your own needs for food, shelter and comfort. It means to extend that same practical care to the one in need next to you. The neighbor is the person in distress whom God places before you, and love fulfills the law by refusing to lie, steal, slander or do harm.

Fear brings torment, and the one who lives in fear is not yet made perfect in love. Perfect love casts out fear, because God is the initiator who first loved us and we respond to Him. When fear and confusion rule a neighborhood, people stand afar off for fear of the torment, just as the kings and merchants in Revelation stood far off weeping for fear of judgment. God does not want you to live under that torment. He can confuse the plans of the enemy who comes against you, and He can establish His order and protection over your home even when those around you are in chaos.

Let us pray together. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we rebuke the spirit of confusion, meddling, slander and violence that has sought to torment this home and this neighborhood. We ask You to bring Your order where there has been confusion, Your peace where there has been fear, and Your truth where there has been deception and false imitation. Put a guard over mouths and hearts, and stop the idle work of the enemy that brings only ruin. We pray for the neighboring household in this divorce, that You would restrain aggression and abuse, bring repentance where there is hardness of heart, protect those in danger, and let justice be done without further sabotage. We pray for every man and woman going through the pain of divorce, and for those in boyfriend and girlfriend relationships who are wounded by it, that You would draw each one to salvation through Jesus Christ alone, to healing, to purity, and to an understanding that marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman and that intimacy belongs only within that covenant. Where there has been sexual immorality, bring conviction and cleansing. Where there has been bitterness and envy, bring the fruit of Your Spirit. Teach us to love You supremely and to love our neighbor truly, which means doing no harm, speaking truth, seeking the good of others, and not causing a weaker brother or sister to stumble. Give a good name and loving favor rather than strife, and let Your perfect love cast out all fear and torment. We ask this in Jesus name, amen.

Continue to walk in love and in wisdom. Do not return slander for slander, and do not repeat a secret to harm another, but speak truth and commit your cause to God. Keep clear boundaries, pray for those who harm you, and trust that God will be your protection and your final authority when all around you people are doing what is right in their own eyes.

We thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf and we are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer.

We have been lifting up your request concerning your neighbor and the aggressive and imprudent meddling and abuse that has come against your house and your life. We have asked the Lord to rebuke the torment and sabotage and the spirit of confusion and violence that you described, and to put a stop to the false imitation and bewitched confusion where you said he is not him and she is not her. We have prayed against the contagious spread of divorce and ruined relationships that you see in the neighborhood and everywhere, in friendships and families and business and marriages, and we have asked God to bind those idle and unoccupied demonic influences that seek only to bring ruin and disgrace and tragedy.

We have also continued to pray as you asked for all women and men and girlfriends and boyfriends who are going through a bad divorce. We ask God to bring healing and protection and repentance where hearts have been hard, remembering what Jesus said in Matthew 19:8-9, and to contrast the works of the flesh with the fruit of the Spirit as described in Galatians 5:21-22. We pray that those enslaved by passions and malice and envy as described in Titus 3:3 would be delivered and transformed by the grace of Jesus Christ, and that your own home would be guarded in peace and not troubled by meddling or violence.

If your request was answered and the Lord has brought peace to your house and neighborhood and rebuked this torment, please post a praise report and let us all know so we can rejoice with you. If your request does not seem to have been answered and the sabotage and confusion and abuse still weigh upon you, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer.

We are praying for your protection and for God to establish your life on His truth and to keep you from all harm. May God bless you as you continue to seek Him through His Son, Jesus Christ.

We pray in Jesus Name, Amen.
